Opie and Donna
requested by escapist90
Just checking in for a minute, guys.
I'll be around more tomorrow, and I'll be replying to threads/posting opens/plotting then.
Goodnight!
Opie lingers there for a moment, wanting to help with setting up the table, but instead he lets her to her own devices and goes to wake his kids up. The tall biker quietly walks towards his daughter’s bed and kneels down and whispers in her ear to wake up, shaking her gently before going over to his son and doing the same thing. “Breakfast is ready.” Opie announces and goes back to shaking them gently until both of his children are awake. They both get up without a word and go into the kitchen.
He frowns, but doesn’t vocalize anything and follows them to the kitchen and goes to sit in his spot at the table as he attempts to get them to talk, anything, but there is absolutely no response, and he looks at Donna, seeking help.
Donna clears her throat. "So, your Dad and I were talking about doing something fun today, and he suggested the movies, or the zoo. Think you guys might wanna have a day out?" There's automatic smiles from both of them and Donna smiles Opie's way encouragingly, hand sliding to cover his.
She has to be right. This has to get better, because she can't imagine the pain it's causing him to be a stranger to his own children, and she'll help any way she can. A memory comes back, of his face the days Kenny and Ellie were born, how much he loved them, how much she knows he still does. He's a wonderful father, if their children would give him the chance again. And she knows they're trying, that Opie's almost a stranger to them, but she also knows they have a few memories of him, and she hopes that's enough for them to let him back in.
He glanced into her eyes, an expression of uncertainty across his face. The kids didn’t even utter a single word to their father, and it wasn’t like he could blame them. Opie had been gone for a long time, they were practically strangers, but he kept his insecurities inside and forced a smile for Donna.
"Yeah, I know, Just—" he stopped and placed his hands on the back of the chair, eyeing towards the direction of his children’s room. "Should I wake the kids up?" he asked with a grin as he kissed her back.
He's hiding things, putting on a brave face for her. She's loved him since they were in high school, she knows him enough to know that. But she figures it's a discussion they can have later, when he's more open to talking about it or she feels like drawing it out of him, whichever works.
"Yeah. Tell 'em breakfast is ready." She steals another kiss and then pulls away to get down glasses to fill them with juice, reaching for plates as well to set the table.
He stomach growls at the fresh smell of pancakes. Opie had been dying for a home cooked meal every day that he had been locked up, so whenever Donna made something from scratch, well he was just all over it. He walked towards the table to grab his kutte, taking out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter and proceeded to place one in his mouth and lit it. The biker put them back into his kutte and walked back to where he previously was.
He looked over at his wife, “Maybe the zoo or the movies?” he suggested. “Think the kids would like that?”
"Of course they would. You're their father. I'm sure they'd like to spend time with you no matter what they're doing." She turns off the stove and sets the platter onto the table and then turns to slip her arms around his middle, face tilted up.
"I love you. And they're going to love you. You just have to get to know each other again." She gives him a warm smile and presses up on her toes to kiss him. "Alright?"
It had been tough for him to re-adjust to live outside of prison, but he had done so with the help of his wife. The kids had some trouble, but he figured they’d eventually come around, he was their father after all. Maybe a trip to the local park would help ease the distance that he current;y had with his children. All he knew at the moment was that he missed his bed, missed his beautiful wife sleeping next to him and of course his children. Nothing could ever compare that feeling of unity and being a part of a family, it was all he had; all he ever wanted.
He had been awakened by the smell of fresh coffee and his favorite cooking in the kitchen, the empty space on the bed indicated that Donna was awake and roaming around. She had always been an early bird. Opie tried to walk slowly in the hallway, not wanting to wake his kids yet. They needed the peace and quiet for as long as it lasted in this particular household.
He walked into the kitchen and goes over to Donna, dipping down to wrap his hands around her waist, pressing a kiss on her lips and lingers there for a moment. “Good morning baby.” he whispered. Opie stepped back a bit to give his wife some room and leaned against the kitchen counter, watching her as she maneuvered around the kitchen, not able to feel anything but lucky to be back on the outside with his family.
Donna smiles and flips another pancake onto the platter sitting readily by and glances at her husband. The five years without him were the hardest she'd ever experienced, and she's happier than she can put into words to have him back
"What do you wanna do today?" Sundays usually mean that there wasn't much to do with the club, so she's hoping to have him all to herself today.
