Aura masterpost
This took forever but its done! This post includes the colors and correlations of an aura, a description of what they are, aswell as other small bits of information I’ve picked up over the years and how to start seeing them. If I’ve missed any colors-be sure to let me know! 💕
DESCRIBING THE AURA
All beings have what is called an aura. It is an energy field around a person/animal and sometimes thing, everything gives off vibration, which some people can feel, sense, or most commonly see as a color around a person or the thing. An aura is usually about 3 feet outwards from the subject, however auras have been known to expand up to 50 feet in most often survivors of a trauma. This probably comes from the subconscious need to protect oneself from the event. Commonly there are seven “layers” or different colored sections of an aura, where some people can see more then nine. A more experienced psychic will eventually be able to see all of these colors, however the most common to see first is the first layer of aura, the Etheric aura. Each layer has a higher vibration of the one beneath it. The etheric layer seems to be the most structured and solid, and the highest layer seems to come off as a gassy or oily looking mix of color, like fog.
Like all vibration our aura can be intercepted and mix with other peoples if they touch us, or express emotions towards us, if we’re emotionally attached to someone, etc. Peoples auras are known to turn pinkish shades if they’re in love. Expand if angry, retreat if sad. If there are sparks in the aura, the person is known to have divine protection, depending on the color-white sparks usually represent angelic interference. Before one dies or if one has a near death experience their aura can turn dead white. Sparkly white can also indicate someone about to become pregnant or someone who is pregnant. A weak, small or faint aura can represent someone who is sick spiritually or physically just as a strongly vivid aura can indicate a healthy person. If someone has an intricate idea, the aura around their head can sparkle or turn bright, (Like the cartoon lightbulbs on cartoon characters!)
LAYERS OF THE AURA
First layer-Etheric
-About one-quarter to two inches from the body. This has to do with the physical body and overall health of the person.
Second layer-Emotional
-One to three inches from the body. This color has to do with the overall emotions of the person.
Third layer-Mental
-Three to eight inches from the body. Associated with the thoughts and thinking process
Fourth layer-Astral
-One to one and a half feet from the body. The bridge between the physical and spiritual planes. We express here our relationships to others and the spiritual plane.
Fifth layer-The etheric template
-One and a half to two feet from the body. Here is how we manifest energy and our true personality.
Sixth layer-The Celestial layer
-Two to two and three quarters feet from the body. This is the layer where you will see the connection to the spiritual plane, and the relationship to the universe//God, universal love.
Seventh layer- Ketheric Template
-Two and a half to three feet from the body. The strongest layer of the aura. Here is our true spiritual self, our being’s color.
[Other layers are yet to be explored or have any pinned meanings]
SEEING THE AURA
Seeing an aura is easier then you would expect, especially if you are already used to spiritual topics and sensing energy, or meditate on a daily basis.
The first step is being relaxed, and being aware. Meditate for a few seconds, get in your “zone” for witches or workers, this is the place you go before you complete a spell. For newbies, this is just a calming zone, until you feel detached from the physical realm enough to start.
Normally, dim lighting works best, but its all about your awareness and preferences-the best place for myself and a few others i know was always a brightly lit grocery store. Wherever is right for you works! Also, dark backgrounds can warp what color the aura truly is,making it darker-make sure the background behind the person is light, preferably white, so you can see the aura in vivid, bright color.
Most people can see aura through clothes, but its obviously easier to see it on skin, and you wont have to worry about the color of clothes warping the aura.
For some people, its hard to see an aura straight on, and for others, you can view it better from the corner of your eye.
The forehead method:
Start by staring at the person’s forehead. Relax, and start slowly unfocusing your eyes. There should be a clearish color starting to form around the person like a shield, lining the person’s body. Remember not to look directly at the colors forming or the clear vibration yet-try not to move your eyes from the unfocused position either, be as still as possible, and the clear shield will start forming into a color.
This is the best way to start seeing past the etheric aura, the outer colors of the aura closest to the skin.
The straight-on method:
Take the person’s hand or arm, place it on the light background you’ve chosen. Now focus as close as you can to their skin, without looking directly at their skin. Like the forehead method, a clear surrounding should start to form right outside of the skin. Keep focused, and eventually you will see color.

These people are almost always loners. They start style trends, usually having colorful or a very different hairstyle. Usually “punks” the punker versions of indigos, with more, spike in the indigo aura’s peaceful step. They have a more physical and grounded type of peacemaking. They like very unique music. They love bright colors. They love music and aren’t afraid to act out at a concert. They look for the reactions in people- what kind can vary on what this person has missed out on or feels him/herself-attention, to anger, to sadness. They can evoke actions in people and make people fearless. Usually they call themselves “night owls” loving to walk cities in the dark, the fog of the night. These are the people who spray paint a city-for a political or big movement, and aren’t afraid to do so. They are often judged as scary because their personality can range so far, and is new and unusual to so many people. Magentas can have trouble with exhaustion or lack of energy because they use so much of it as well as depression-feeling like they have no emotion in general because they feel so differently, or are treated as if. (Look up portraits of ascended masters, or even Jesus-you’ll see they have a golden halo surrounding their heads.)
Silver:
When the aura turns silver it indicates a spiritual awakening or a new idea. Cosmic energy. Nurturing. Seen in older people , a sign of wisdom.
Black: A negative influence or sickness if muddy or dull. Lack or emotion. Grounded, a stable person. An intense person. This can also indicate a surviver of abuse. Long term-unforgiveness. Unable to feel guilt. Secrecy. A hard color to interpret! Be positive.
White
Again a hard color to interpret. This color is more like a “noise” when read. In some cultures, this is a color of death, and white appears right before the time of death in the aura,or in someone who is terminally ill or addicted to substances. In a better light, it is divine, angelic or indicates a spiritually well person. Someone peaceful, purity. Like pink this can represent powers not yet obtained or dormant or developing abilities.
Yellow/green: If found in points along the body it can indicate sickness or an illness healing in a person.
Grey:
Loneliness, developing abilities, Shyness, Depression.
Muddy colors
Colors that are muddy or foggy or seem to be darkened or not bright can be signs of instability or manifesting thoughts, the bad ones. These colors should be read very carefully, remember that its not always the bad reasoning first. For example, black can show up in spots of an aura of someone working through bad emotion, black taking the light to manifest and transform it into something good, or consume it,black can actually be PROTECTING someone from negative energies. As muddy colors are mostly portrayed in a negative light, the descriptions are going to face that direction aswell, but remember not everyone suffering is a bad person, they’re just going through something tough like we all do eventually. These colors are not usually strong points, and show as spots in the aura.
Muddy brown:
Selfishness, anxiety, paranoia. Low self esteem. Material greed.
Muddy pink:
Immaturity, dishonesty
Muddy Lavender/Purples:
Spiritual greed, entitlement,humility,alcoholism, Arrogance.
Muddy orange:
Suffering from addictive behaviours or vanity, worry. Anxiety
Muddy green:
Resentment, not owning up to actions, playing victim, mistrust or uncertainty.
Muddy yellow:
Mostly found in students. Someone working too hard, trying to learn everything at once.
Muddy blue
Blocked perception, worry,rushing
Muddy turquoise/teal
Struggling with their life purpose. Thinking they will never amount to what they need to be spiritually.
Muddy red:
Anger or someone who is being bullied.
Muddy Gold
Indicates a working alchemist.
Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.
