sorry for being on Hiatus for this long!!★
I haven't responded to questions in a while and generally it's because I haven't felt like it because of personal reasons and the general lack of motivation
Recently, though, I've come back with motivation to draw!! I didn't want to leave you guys with nothing, though, so here's some redesigns of (some) the main cast made last night!!
I drew this at 2am till 6am so I mightve messed up Shellys hand but it's okay
My "au" takes place moreso in the cartoon, but will have GardenView and stuff implemented
Here are some fun facts about my universe!!
mentioned this before, but Sprout is Texan in my headcanon :)
Shelly being "forgotten" is more so an early seasons applejack thing, if you remember the "applejack is the best background pony" memes, she's underutilised and doesn't have as many episodes centric to herself as much as the others mains do, hence not many children caring for Shelly as we don't see much of her that's interesting at least. It's not that Shelly isn't interesting. It's that she's often not a main focus despite her role as main cast. I'd figure an older audience would appreciate and relate to Shelly more so than little children watching the show at a first glance
This one I made up today with a friend, I figured Vee wouldn't have parents, but then I remembered with cartoon logic applied she might've for a gag sequence, so because of Vee's inconsistencies on having both TV and computer attributes, her parents are a TV and a computer (though I will be keeping her design with the white graphics as Vee is mainly TV and TVs didn't have green graphics in her time period as far as I'm aware)
Astro has a whole galaxy of a roaster in family members, I find it comedic for him to have too many family members to count but also fitting as space is big and Astro is a magical other being so I'd find it make sense. I have two OCs that are his siblings. The rest of his family tree are primarily cousins and aunts/uncles. As for his parents, I'm unsure right now. They'd probably be some major cosmic entities that don't really show up in the cartoon besides a few Astro centric arcs
Astro is the youngest out of his siblings, and I had these in universe episodes where we met his older brother and oldest sister (in separate debuting episodes). In his brothers episode, we meet a sun guy named "Apollo," and he's basically a foil to Astro, confident, outgoing, basically a surfer dude trope mixed with the confident older brother trope. In his episode, Astro tries to hide him from his friends because he's a general embarassment to him and the fact that he has four arms, Apollo shows them confidentially but Astro was insecure of having an extra pair, so by common sense he'd figure his friends would put together the fact he has four arms if his sibling does. After some gags, he has a confrontation from Apollo, figuring out what he was doing and was unhappy with it. Eventually, Astro learns a lesson. He can't hide the truth from his friends, his friends will accept him no matter what he's like in appearance or personality, and you shouldn't hurt the feelings of anyone in general just to fit in, and you shouldn't hide who you are either. The episode ends happily, of course. The episode with his sister would happen somewhere in season 2, "Luna" is introduced, she comes down to Earth to tell Astro that he needs to take over the realm of dreams as he's next in line for that responsibility (and Apollo can't do it because he just isn't fit to take over the role), and this episode is primarily story driven, its just to introduce us to Astro's ability to affect dreams
Sprout cusses a fair amount off screen. He'd feel guilty if any child was to overhear him
Sprout views Shelly a bit like a younger sister, though he primarily hangs out with Cosmo, he does try to keep in mind it was Shelly that introduced them to each other so he tries to invite Shelly to hang out with them, however, she usually ends up being a "third-wheel"
Brightney is Vee's manager
Teagan and Rodger are divorced and on good terms
Teagan and Glisten are siblings!
Tisha is Teagan's secretary. They're pretty friendly instead of formal, though
Gigi is an unreliable salesman, selling toons whatever they need at either a high price or a condition that benefits her since I don't believe the cartoon would've promoted gambling to a young audience
Shrimpo is the bully character that shows you what not to do, yes, but he also has depth since I'm not a fan of keeping him one-dimensional (though I do see the cartoon doing that to him...) Shrimpo's character delves into a more sensitive topic outside the same old antagonising he has on almost every other episode. Shrimpo has "neglective" parents, hence explaining his behaviour in the present day. I don't think the cartoon would push it any further and show it subtly in a way older audiences catch onto it faster than a younger audience would. This would show that even bullies have problems and their attitudes stem from somewhere, but that doesn't give them an excuse to pick on you, so even if they have a reason to be mad they shouldn't take it out on you ((I feel like Shrimpo would be a failed-redemption character in my take. He was offered friendship, and he tried and struggled. He inevitably couldn't break free of his habits of being a jerk but he'd open up to the idea of friendship and not push people away as much, and that's somewhat of an improvement from plain old bullying, though he still does make threats that he doesn't usually act upon))
Finn was Shrimpo's friend since children, so he knows Shrimpo better than anyone else, hence why he'd remain his friend even in their adult life. It felt like he was put on the spot for remaining friends with Shrimpo, considering he was a bully, but that gets resolved as it is still a cartoon to promote friendship at the end of the day
Looey, Yatta, and Blot are a travelling circus. They have a name for themselves, and they're fairly well known in most areas. Looey is anxious about fame, but its okay as he's doing it with the people he loves, and they have his back!
Brusha owns an art exhibit
Pebble and Coal are cousins
Boxten, despite his anxiety and struggle to get a grasp on performing new tasks, has a hobby for repairing and humming tunes while doing so
Poppy likes wearing a new outfit every episode
More facts may occur along the way as I'm going to make more redesigns :)
