Aidan nodded slightly smiling down at the fox girl in front of him, “yes I am” he watched her prowl off and followed a distance behind, every now and then stumbling slightly as his head began to get foggy and his vision blurred. He’d shake out his head and blink a few times as he walked as quietly as he could behind her, glancing around for anything that might be good.

Axl glanced back at the guy curious to how he was going to hunt with that racket. She wondered how he got away with murdering anyone like that. Deciding something must be wrong because no one is that bad at this, she wandered back over to him shifting back human. She lightly touched his shoulder to help steady him. “Are you okay?”, Axl asked concernedly watching the changes in Aidan’s eyes. She smiled to herself and wondered a loud, “Did you go swimming earlier?”

“You should only be so lucky as to leave here.” He looked around, chuckling a bit. “Some say this place in haunted, you know. I’m not sure if I believe in all that nonsense.” He looked at her and tilted his head. “Would you mind accompanying me to the library?”

Axl laughed and shook her head lightly. “Just because you don’t believe in them doesn’t mean they don’t believe in you. Most spirits are pretty harmless though, and normally when you sense one it’s just an animal or one of your guides or somebody else’s. Your guides are completely harmless to you. They keep you safe and help you through things. Now other people’s guides can be harmful to you, but only if you’re threatening their person.” Axl spoke nonchalantly about the topic. “Like with my tigers, you could be simply sensing them if you were sensing something right now. Either way, they get me through a really lot. I couldn’t imagine not having them. They’re gentle, kind, and loving, but if something were to threaten me.. different story.”

“Sure, I’ll go with you. i haven’t even been in there yet, and I love libraries.”

His lip curls in a snarl, mumbling something incoherent with a shake of his head.

   “What do you want.”

The oldest patient furrows his brow at this girl. 

  “Now why the fuck would I do that?”

That must have been a hallucination of sorts since there clearly was no such creature around. “Uh, right…”

Axl smiled softly, “I’m sorry. I forget people don’t see their guides much anymore. I guess we’re too busy and worried about controlling everything rather than the things that matter.” Axl shrugged it off before getting back on track. “Anyway, you should allow yourself to meet her. It’s really easy. You just take a moment to yourself, relax, and let your walls down. She’ll be able to help you a lot more if you could only trust and know her.”

Grumpy Hound Of Hell |OPEN|

Finally, the hound had calmed from its rage, stalking the halls solemnly, grey-blue scales almost smooth against its whole body. Heavy foot falls echoes with the click and drag of violent talons.

But the beast wasn’t interested in using them, just in finding somewhere to be alone and wait this out.

The beast heard movement and paused, ears twitching to listen, a huff itching towards a growl rolled from its chest.

Axl padded down the hallway in her new fox form. She was enjoying how quiet her footsteps were like this. She could never have to socialize again now! Axl’s fox hears picked up a strange noise. She sniffed into the air lightly as she continued a little more cautiously down the hallway before making it to the next corner. She crouched down beside it to peak around. At first she saw nothing in sight and was about to move on when it rounded the opposite. Axl watched a moment longer before deciding to continue down the corridor anyway.

Jim had to hand it to her, she had him there. He couldn’t do that, and it upset him because he felt it would truly help her, though maybe that was just him. At the next comment he laughed.

“Oh, a medical doctor came with me, so I guess not alone. A good friend of mine. He’s a bit rough, but he’s trust worthy.” Jim said lightly smile flaring up only to tone down to something softer.

“It is simply darkness because you lost your light to guide you. You need to find a new light, so to speak.” he said and looked to his hands. “I’ve been in the dark without light before. I was lost, but I found a light and got out. Now I strive to be that light for others.” Jim smiled again at Axl and shrugged.

“Guess I’m a little crazy, huh?” he asked lightly.

Axl feigned shock and amazement as she asked breathlessly, “Are you Jesus?” 

Axl shook her head like shaking off the thought. “No, that can’t be right. Metatron has no plans in coming back anytime soon. So, you must be a false prophet.” Axl thought a moment before deciding, “We could work so well together at corrupting and leading people!”

Axl smirked, “Let’s keep that hidden for our benefit ok? You can do better work here than locked up in one of these. It’ll be perfect.”

He shook his head slightly, “Just not feeling well. But I might have an idea on how. Come with me.” he smiled shutting the fridge silently and squatted to pet her head before turning to leave figuring she’d follow. He led her quietly down the hall to the staircase to the roof and picked the lock with a hairpin he had found on the floor some days before that. After getting it opened he walked up onto the roof, picked her up into his arms, ran and leaped off the roof landing perfectly on his feet on the inside of the fence and laughed darkly with a grin, his eyes shifting to solid black and his teeth shifting to fangs as he breathed heavily, “well that worked out better then expected” he laughed and set her down with a smile, “not sure how we’ll get back in but there you go”

Axl spun and followed close and quietly. She didn’t know why she was a fox or how long it would last, but she loved this feeling inside her. Axl tucked away against Aidan when he jumped letting out a small cry from fear. When her feet hit the ground she shifted back to a human form choosing to keep the ears and tail and giggled excitedly. She smiled up at him unable to contain her giggles, “Ready to go hunting?”.She shifted back to prowl off.

Aidan had snuck out of his room silently and was roaming the halls for a walk. He wasn’t feeling well. He felt like his heart was racing and was sweating badly. He made his way to the kitchen and broke in since the patients weren’t actually allowed in here. He got some water to try cooling off some, then went to the fridge to find something to eat as his stomach growled loudly. Hearing a noise behind him he turned to see a fox padding into the kitchen and chuckled softly, “well good evening little foxy. Would you like something to eat?” he stepped aride motioning to the open fridge doors.

Axl shifted back into her human form before stepping over to the fridge. “What’s wrong with you?” Axl raised her eyebrow curiously then opened the freezer section digging through it. “Why is there no real meat in here? Why would they feed us this stuff?” Axl wrinkled her nose in disgust. She shut the freezer door and turned back to the guy at her side. “So do you know how we can sneak outside?” Axl raised her eyebrow and smirked temptingly before shifting back into a fox.

The nurse raised an eyebrow at that. “I have no idea what you are talking about.” She shot another sidelong glance down the hallway before turning her attention to the patient.

Axl shrugged lightly, “Your owl. He’s for protection while you work in this place. No worries though you’re very safe with him.”

Axl slowly pried her eyes open to look at the time. She had already slept through the day and the moon was just starting to peak over the treeline. She stretched out her lazy muscles before pulling herself into an upright position stretching her arms over her head again. As she stood she yawned as a over intense need for red meat hit her highly unexpectedly. She looked around wondering if it would even be possible to get some in this place.

Deciding the need was too strong, Axl shrugged out of her pajamas and threw on some regular clothes to head down toward the kitchen. As she walked down the hallway she felt something brush her leg. The fox tail she saw when she looked down only filled Axl with pure delight instead of worry as she shifted the rest of her body to match the tail continuing down the hall to satisfy her craving.

Jim watched for a moment before making connections and nodded slowly. “It’s okay. You can leave the door open if that helps.” Jim said, sliding his feet off his desk and offered a kind smile.

“If not, then you can come back when you feel more comfortable or tell me where to meet you where you feel you have control of the situation. Social anxiety is something I personally suffer from and it’s not pleasant. Anxiety as a whole isn’t. Don’t think of me as your doctor, okay? Whilst that is my job, it’s not my personal primary goal.” Helping the other was his goal, yes, but getting to know them came before diagnosing them and treating them.

Axl raised her eyebrow, “Then let’s meet at the park out in public, and then I’ll tell you my life story.” Axl stepped more into the room taking the seat mid way between the man and the door. “You look fresh out of schooling, why would you come to a place like this? Didn’t anyone ever warn you it’s dangerous to go into the dark alone?” Axl smirked lightly fidgeting with her jacket sleeve between her fingers. “I think my darkness would scare you.” Axl laughed without humor.

I am getting very tired of being unable to sleep.

Do they not give you anything for it? Or do those things not help?

Out in the real world the only thing that worked for me was Melatonin, but that still didn’t stop the dreams to help me sleep restfully.
