INTRODUCTION TO FLICKERCLAN:
Featherstar is Flickerclan’s leader. She was made deputy by her mother, Nightstar, who had formed Flickerclan in defiance of Daisyclan. Nightstar had claimed that Daisyclan were too soft on outsiders, and promised any cat that abandoned them and joined her would be greatly rewarded for their bravery and loyalty. Featherstream had only just become a warrior, and was easily swayed by her mother. Nightstar died shortly after forming Flickerclan, leaving a very young Featherstream alone to take care of not only an entire clan, but her newborn kit. Featherstar is often extremely stressed, and often disregards what she believes is right in favor of what she believes her mother would do.
Frostkit is Featherstar’s eldest kit, and her only biological one. She was born shortly before her mother became leader. She loves her mother very much, but often feels a bit neglected, as Featherstar has to stretch her attention over Skykit and the rest of the clan as well.
Skykit is Featherstar’s youngest kit, whom she adopted after Birchcloud found him abandoned while on patrol. Wolfdash urged her to let Figswirl take him in, but Featherstar insisted that she should do it, as she was the only nursing queen at the moment. Skykit looks up to Frostkit and the pair are very close despite their age difference.
Wolfdash is Flickerclan’s deputy, and a previous member of Daisyclan. She had been Featherstar’s mentor, and joined Flickerclan to watch over her. She tries her best to guide Featherstar towards a gentler path of life, and urges her to stop living for Nightstar’s approval. She is a kind, yet strong warrior who would protect her clan with her life.
Birchcloud is Flickerclan’s medicine cat. He is an anxious tom who prefers to keep to himself. Nightstar was quick to pick up on this, and promised Birchcloud that if he joined her, he wouldn’t have to worry about taking care of anyone but his own clanmates. Birchcloud, eager to escape the stress of being Daisyclan’s only (overworked) medicine cat, accepted and joined. After seeing all the bloodshed Nightstar caused, however, Birchcloud has been questioning his decision…
Figswirl is a gentle she-cat who spends most of her time in the nursery. She was a perfect fit for Daisyclan - until her own kits were stolen by a group of rogues who Asterstar (Daisyclan’s leader) had been allowing to stay in camp. Nightstar wasted no time taking the opportunity to manipulate the grieving queen into joining Flickerclan, where no outsider would ever come near their kits.
Blazespring is a bright and ambitious young tom. Nightstar promised him a place as deputy, after her own daughter, of course. She had planned to set Featherstar up with him, and have him lead by her side, but unfortunately, she was killed before she could do so. In spite of this, Blazespring isn’t unkind to Wolfdash or Featherstar - he may be full of himself, but he doesn’t let his ambition blind him. He even takes up a somewhat fatherly role to Skykit and Frostkit to help Featherstar balance her duties. His feelings for Featherstar, despite being pushed by Nightstar, are genuine. Featherstar respects Blazespring, but definitely doesn’t regard him in any romantic sense.
