I’m a rare dotc lover, I think I just read it at a good time in my childhood lol idk but I do love it despite its many flaws. I honestly don’t think a lot of its issues are like any worse than they are in any of the other arcs? But they are irritating all the same
I’ve said it before but I’m not very interested in stormfur— he was a boring protag (and since I’m a bramble fan I was annoyed that they replaced bramble’s POV with storm’s in moonrise as a kid lol). I think his and hawk’s dynamic is cool in the sense that hawk feels super threatened by him because he believes leopard and/or misty would choose him to be deputy which tbh is 100% correct. I think leopard would bc of her guilt (like how she did with misty) and misty would bc of her kinship for storm (and feather) and what they all went through. I think hawk seeing stormfur as the perfect riverclan warrior is interesting considering that for a very significant and impactful time in his childhood stormfur was treated like an outsider himself, so he and hawk probably have more in common than hawk thinks. I don’t really ship it in part because I see hawk caring deeply about feathertail (perhaps in a familial way but definitely in a platonic way) but is wounded after feather suddenly goes cold on him and stops playing with him and moth as kits. So he has complicated feelings about her— wants to impress her, angry that she won’t play with him anymore, desperate to get her approval back— and I think he probably hates that she was the one that died on the trip and wishes it had been storm instead. Because of that platonic connection with feathertail who played with him as a kit, I’m a lot more hesitant to ship him with Storm. But of course that’s a very personalized take on it— not saying at all that people can’t ship it.
