i am sometimes tempted to write a jaytim high school AU specifically bc when i see jaytim high school AUs they never have the specific dynamic i think they should have
pre-death jason wore sweaters with button-ups, said "aw heck" when he was upset, volunteered to be a class officer and help plan field trips for his class, had an interest in historical fashion that once helped solve a case, and was (of course, famously) a bookworm who read a lot of classic lit. i feel like he also did tech for school plays but i can't remember the source off the top of my head so don't quote me there
high school era tim drake wore jeans and green day t-shirts and flannels, played d&d and was very excited to get some first edition books as a birthday present, owned the box sets for buffy the vampire slayer, and liked reading old sci-fi novels. also he owned a skateboard and regularly used it for transportation.
IMO high school jason and tim (assuming a jason who never died) wouldn't be jockxnerd. they'd be nerdxgeek. jason is taking tim to bookshops and plays and museums. tim is taking jason to comic shops and concerts and conventions. tim convinces jason to play dnd with him and jason gets way more into it than either of them were expecting.
Wow, it seems like only yesterday that a couple of bright-eyed, bushy-tailed fans announced the first JayTim Week. While those founding mods have since moved on, the ship week itself is still chugging along just as strong as ever—a whole decade later!
We had a lot of grand ideas while brainstorming for this year's JayTim week. There have been a lot of events (sometimes more than one in a year!), in a lot of different ways (longtime fans will remember the epic JayTim BINGO Month of 2019), and over the years we've had a heckuva lot of prompts. Why not pull on all that history to make something unique and special?
This year, JayTim "Week" will span 10 whole days, from June 19th through June 28th, 2026—one day for each year. To pick prompts for each day, our dedicated mods compiled the past prompts (all 301 of them), weeded out the repeats, and randomly divided them between the 10 days. Then, to mix things up a bit more, we made a picker wheel for each day.
To decide on your prompt(s) each day, simply spin the wheel and let fate decide. Since we don't have a free day this year, each wheel also includes a Free Day!, bringing the total number of possible options for each day up to a whopping 25 prompts (wow)!

Okay this is simultaneously a really simple fic concept and has SO much going on 😂
It's an omegaverse au, it's a "Jason lived" au, it's a "Tim isn't a bat but assists them anonymously" au, Jason is technically doing surveillance on Tim, it goes on. But the actual plot is just, "Jason and Tim talk at a gala and then have sex." Part of the reason I haven't made as much progress on this fic as I would like is that it contained an unconscionable amount of world building LOL
Since it's me, Tim is a beta and has a complex about it and Jason is an omega who decides he's very into him.
Here have a snippet:
Tim feels eyes on him, and glances across the room to find the source.
He sees Jason Todd, looking nonchalant, snagging an hors devours from a passing waiter.
There's other people in the vicinity. Tim is being ridiculous. There's no reason for Jason Todd (Robin, Robin, that's Robin, Tim's mind chants, even knowing that Jason had passed on the mantle a few years ago now) to pay any attention to Tim Drake.
Jason looks up and locks eyes with Tim.
Tim knows that it looks suspicious when he jerks his gaze away, shamefaced, but he can't help himself. He needs to be better, needs to be collected in every way to make his public persona into what he wants, but he can't help but feel embarrassed at being caught staring.
Have two!
Jason can't say when this surveillance mission turned into a honeypot.
Okay, that's a lie. He knows when it happened. It was when Tim Drake turned out to be hyper-observant and, apparently, really into him (and also smelled fucking amazing. Jason isn't anosmic, alright, forgive him for a little flirting.)
Okay so are you familiar with the incubus fics pepple have written in the fandom? Where an incubus/succubus is a sort of emotional vampire? They have empathetic powers to sense peoples' emotions and are able to feed off of and sometimes manipulate those emotions. I was like, this is great, but what if we add back in some sexual stuff for extra trauma?
I've only written a couple of sections of this fic and the first one explains the concept so let me just add that (warning for non-descriptive mentions of sexual assault, pedophilia, and discrimination. Jason is not the one who was assaulted.)
Jason grew up dreading the day that his powers would start to come in.
He may have been a kid, only able to suck down the emotional sustenance his mother offered him, but he wasn't stupid. He knew how it worked. He knew that before anything else, before he could feed through his own power or twist other people's feelings, he would develop a glamor, and he would have it until he figured out how to make it go away.
He knew why it happened, hypothetically. It made sense that demons would want to lure in their prey by making themselves more desirable. The problem was that Jason didn't want to be desirable. The neighbor girl, Carrie, was a succubus a few years older than him, and she'd never been the same after her court case. He'd read the documents online, and from what he could tell, the public defender had barely even tried. No judge in Gotham was going to jail someone for raping an incubus or a succubus, not when they were literally, magically asking for it.
The aura was alright for adults, because they had the control to turn that shit off. (It wasn't alright. He knew it wasn't. Every single one of them he knew were doing sex work, because that was the only thing anyone wanted them for. Even Carrie, who didn't have time to babysit him anymore, not when she was too busy working corners to pay off her medical bills.)
As soon as puberty started, Jason knew he'd be in for months or even years of hell. The leers he got when men learned what he was were going to become constant, and if he didn't get strong enough to protect himself, fast, he knew exactly what would happen.
So the fic follows how this affects Jason's life. Psychically starving after his mom dies. Getting taken in by Bruce, finally being able to feed, becoming Robin and being so happy. He can fight now, he can protect himself and others, he's building muscle that makes him look less like what people imagine incubi to look like. His glamor coming in and making him miserable and emotionally volitile. Dying. Waking up in a lazarus pit and realizing that his body has changed, matured, filled out, and people WANT him. Killing every assassin who looks at him wrong until he's trained himself to shut down his aura completely. Going back to Gotham and becoming Red Hood, making sure people fear him instead of anything else. Attacking Tim in Titan’s Tower, taking off his helmet in a dramatic reveal, and being very, very surpised at Tim's emotional reaction. Yeah he's horrified, but also kind of... awed? Happy? And Jason's glamour must be slipping, 'cause why the fuck is he mildly horny right now?
Tim: Jason Todd is alive and he just broke my arm with his big strong muscles holy shit holy shit holy shit

“No, because what the hell was that, Tim?” Jason shouted after him.
Tim ignored him, stalking into his living room, dropping pieces of his armor as he went. Jason dropped his helmet on Tim’s dining room table before going after him.
“You let him get away!” Jason said, grabbing him roughly by the shoulder and turning him to face him.
Tim snarled and knocked his hand away, “A thank you would be good.”
“I had it handled,” Jason said through gritted teeth.
“So you have a fear toxin antidote on you?” Tim asked, crossing his arms.
Jason stared at him, breathing heavily in his anger. He didn’t want to admit he didn’t have one because Tim would just use it to justify why he stayed behind, but if he said he did have one, Tim would either demand proof or ask why he didn’t use it on himself.
“I had it handled,” Jason repeated. “I told you I had it handled and you still let him get away!”
“Because I knew you were lying!” Tim shouted, moving closer. “You were slapping your jacket pockets and fumbling around trying to find it. Even if you had one, you’d have been too incapacitated to administer it by the time you found it! You’re welcome!”
Jason shoved him away, “Yes, I’m sure his next victims will be sure to thank you for letting him go!”
Tim shouted angrily, shoving Jason back. They scuffled for a few moments before Tim pinned Jason to the wall. One of Tim’s knees was jammed into his thigh. One hand held Jason’s wrist over his head while his other hand was braced against Jason’s forearm.
“The next person he terrorizes is on you,” Jason spat, leaning into Tim’s space. Tim shoved him back against the wall. “I told you to go on.”
“Shut up,” Tim growled, tightening his grip on Jason’s wrist.
“What, you think you can catch him before that happens?” Jason chuckled lowly. “You’re not that good, Boy Wonder.”
“I said, shut up,” Tim said quietly, an edge to his voice.
“Make me,” Jason taunted.
There was a single charged second between them, both panting and staring at each other. Tim’s gaze dropped to his lips before he surged forward, kissing him hard. Jason sucked in a breath in surprise. He pushed against Tim’s hold on his arms, his instinct to grip Tim’s hips and pull him closer.

Everything in Jason’s body screamed at him to be gentle, to be tender, to hold Tim close and card his finger through his hair and show him a good time.
Tim wouldn’t let him. Tim kissed messily, wildly, and hard, his body pinning Jason in place. Jason didn’t fight him, let him take whatever he wanted.

The air was tense and soupy, humid and electrified. The clouds broke, lightning cracked, and drops of rain fell into Tim's eyes as he watched Jason stalk forward, the glow of his acidic irises cutting through the gloom.
Who knew that there was a Lazarus pit beneath Gotham? Who could've guessed that Jason would risk his own life to save Tim from being dunked in it?
No time for questions, not when Red Hood was juiced up on Lazarus water and nearly feral with it.
Tim stepped into his path, causing him to come up short, those green eyes boring into him.
"Jason," Tim said, firm but calm. "You don't want to hurt anyone."
Jason only stood and stared. Lighting struck once again, illuminating the strangely intense look on his face. Tim took a deep breath of the thick Gotham air, smelling smog and hot asphalt and nearly clean water. He stepped forward.
"You saved me," he said. He lost some of his composure when he added, "I don't even know why you did. You shouldn't have. But you did, and now I'm going to keep you safe. Even from yourself."
Jason, too, took a step closer. Tim braced himself. He'd seen the mindless violence when Jason had attacked the assassins right out of the pit. He knew how bad this could be. He had his hand on his staff, ready to expand it at any moment.
But he hesitated. Jason was moving slowly, deliberately, entirely focused on him. Logically, it couldn't be anything but the precursor to an attack, and yet Tim simply waited to see what he would do.
Jason stopped in front of Tim and met his eyes. After a moment where they simply watched each other, he reached a hand out. Tim flinched. He couldn't stop himself. Jason froze, but only for a moment.
He put his hand on Tim's upper arm. He gripped, but not too tightly. He did the same on the other side, holding Tim in place. It was an incredibly dangerous, vulnerable position to be in. Tim didn't move. At this point, he could hardly dare.
Jason leaned over and nuzzled his nose into Tim's wet hair.
Tim almost sagged in relief.
He reached up, and Jason pulled back so that he could brush some of the water from his face.
"You're okay," Tim said, like he could manifest that it was and would continue to be true. "Everything's going to be okay. Let's go home."
I rarely get asked to sketch or draw ships for people at cons, especially non-anime/manga related ones. Here is Jason Todd and Tim Drake from DC comics. I rather enjoyed drawing this, not gonna lie ;)
