Hey
Hey
I Found My Spark!
For a long time now our philosophy has been, in order to think like an attacker you have to think like one. While this perspective does help security pros in detecting and mitigating vulnerabilities in their networks, it is starting to decrease in popularity.
We are entering a new age where old philosophies are on their way out and a new type of technology is taking hold. Now most of us in this industry have heard about the term Internet of Things and this next phase of devices connected to the web. However, with this new shift security is at the top of this list due to the extreme risk these devices posses. About two years ago I came up with an idea to develop a system that could predict future security threats and go one step ahead of the "Think Like An Attacker" philosophy to successfully defeat attacker tactics. The main reason why this idea I believe came into my mind was that I was looking for this type of system to see if it already had existed and to my surprise Google turned up no sufficient results.
So I set out on trying to come up with the concept of how to build this even though I am not a programmer. Months went by and I still had no clue how to really develop a cognitive security prediction system like IBM's Watson and I knew I wanted something kind of like Watson, but geared towards the Cyber Security Industry and not a one fits all system.

Last week I stumbled upon an interesting company and one that had the word "Cognition" in their name. I clicked their twitter profile and was amazed by the description of their product called, MindSpark. Anyone know yet who I am talking about? :) Anyways, I had finally found a company that not only had taken an idea I also thought about, but had transformed it into an Artificial Intelligence, I.o.T, Cognitive security threat prediction system. I was surprised at what I just had discovered and I wasn't mad at all. In fact, I wanted to help spread the news about this product I had found because I believed this type of A.I, Cognitive, Security Threat Prediction based system is the answer to the future of threat prevention technologies because not only does it think like an attacker, but it out thinks our adversaries years into the future thanks to their pattern recognition based algorithms!
A big shout out to SparkCognition for developing this product and hopefully I can help share it with the industry, provide feedback, feature requests, and future articles about this new technology that has provided me with confidence for the future of Cyber Security. We are no doubt entering a new age in the on going war against our enemies.
The company I am talking about is called SparkCognition and they are based in Austin, Texas! For more info visit SparkCognition.com and on twitter @SparkCognition.

Of course there is one. :) And actually the best in the whole internet, trust me. :) Tronblr. (Okay, not just the Legacy, we love the whole franchise, I think. Check some blog I follow for instance. ^^ Most of them are Tron-related. \o/)
