Hi! My price is $12 which includes the $6-$7 USPS shipping as well as the weird little paypal fees. I kind of design my sales as “You’re welcome to pay what you can afford, but the minimum is ____”, haha. It basically covers shipping/fees and a small profit which I use for my aquarium or birds. C:
I would be shipping probably around 60% of what is pictured, which is the top of a 8 gallon cube tank (about 12″ square) so it would be a couple large handfuls. They grow pretty fast I’ve found, so with that starting amount they should easily spread and cover your tank!
Selling Amazon Frogbit! As you can see, my cube is full again. I would be able to ship this week before the Midwest temperature drops again. Selling about 60%+ of this, shipping is about $6-$7 through USPS and it will come tracked and in a box (to avoid the plants being crushed). How did you get into keeping the type of animal your blog is focused on? For birds, I was actually planning on getting a lizard, but my family really dislikes reptiles. My dad suggested a budgie, since we had one when I was little. Two birds later, I think it was a good choice.
In terms of fish, freshman year of college my friend said “Get a fish, they’re so easy to take care of!” A little bit of research later, and I upgraded to a 5, then 10 gallon planted tank for my betta.
What inspired you to start your blog? I really love my pets, and like showing them to other people. I figured people would get sick of that pretty fast on facebook or in person, haha.
Favorite animal or dream animal you’d like to one day keep? Besides cats and dogs, I would really love to have a cockatiel someday!
How do you feel about the pet community you are a part of? While I don’t post a reblog from the community a whole lot, I love seeing other people’s pets and finding great tips and advice from more knowledgeable people.
Anything you’d like to communicate to your pet community? Do your research! If you want a low-maintenance pet, get a cactus. Animals need care and attention, not to just sit on display. But I think my community knows this pretty well.
Are you comfortable with followers asking pet care questions? I haven’t been keeping birds for long at all (not even a year yet) but I’m fine if people just ask me questions about what I do.
For fish, I love talking to people and giving them tank tips, but I don’t know a lot of details about the very technical side, so those would be best to ask someone else.
Any interests outside of your pet community? I’m a film and photography student in college, which I would consider my main interests. I’m also a bit plant-obsessed. In my small studio apartment I think I have 30+ plants. Woops.
What do you do outside of Tumblr? Kinda answered in the last question, but currently I’m a college student. Being an art/design student at my college is pretty grueling, but I love it!

Hey! I was wondering what kind of lighting you use for Your tank? I just upgraded to a 10 gal and I don't know what kind of light to use for it.
If you’re talking about my old 10g betta tank, I used to use the Aqueon Floramax as I recall. Either that or a different Aqueon bulb. It will depend what kind of light setup or hood you have, but I had success with those in the past. Make sure you replace them when you’re supposed to. The light may still look bright but after a period of time it won’t be helping the plants as much.
Right now I have an 8 gal. cube, so I just use the Fluval lighting that came with it.

How do you stop it from going everywhere? Every time I do a water change my sand starts floating around like it’s lost its mind and ruining my tank aestetic.
Fill slowly and carefully
It helps if you have a piece of driftwood, a plant, or a tank ornament to pour over. If you pour on top of them, it deflects the water and you get less of the pressure hitting the sand. Otherwise I’ve poured on top of my filter.
I know that when you usually put sand down the first time and go to do the initial tank fill, it helps to put paper towels on top and fill after so the sand stays in place. Maybe that same idea could work for water changes?

I've never had java moss before - it doesn't seem like it's very high maintenance but what would I have to do to add it to my betta tank?? I'm interested if you haven't sold it. I just don't have a lot of plant experience b/s marimo. :(
You should be able to just add it straight to your tank! Not much more work than Marimo in my opinion. I don't use co2 and only occasionally dose fertilizers so it shouldn't be an issue. Someone else is also interested but you're second in line if that doesn't work. Thank you!
