Why would people ship Batman/Superman with Wonder Woman when a man like Steve Trevor exists?
Ok but the line ‘I can save today, you can save the world,’ is the most powerful line ever spoken in a superhero movie, and is probably the most impactful line I’ve heard from a move in general.
Like everything about Wonder Woman is amazing and so powerful for women and little girls everywhere.
But that line. It did so much. It basically sums up Wonder Woman in a single sentence and I, personally, will never forget it
The thing about Charlie’s PTSD
(contains Wonder Woman spoilers)
You know the thing about him I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone mention? He’s a sniper with PTSD right? And there’s that scene where he points his rifle at the enemy sniper in the tower and can’t pull the trigger. And usually that would mean that the main character would end up having a conversation with him after which he’d get a ‘second opportunity’ to take that shot and this time wouldn’t flinch.
And we’d be supposed to be proud of him because he ‘overcame his trauma’ by… doing the thing that caused his trauma in the first place?
BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT HAPPENED HERE, instead we get an amazing scene where when Charlie thinks there’s no point in him going with them for their mission Diana smiles at him and tells him that there is: without him they wouldn’t have anyone to sing to them.
And I thought it was just so… in line with the message this movie was sending. And so true to Diana’s character.
Because in her eyes Charlie’s value as a person or a friend doesn’t rest in whether or not he can pull the trigger and kill.
And I though it was important.
I mean this movie was filled with many such small but significant moments that addressed things like sexism and racism and the atrocities of colonization, and I’d mention them all it’s just that this one was one I hadn’t seen someone already discussing.
i just love how steve’s first reaction to diana was to try and protect her but the moment it became clear she could more than defend herself he was like “ok!!! u can handle this!!! save the world!!! kill those bad guys!!! u need help? a gun? a snack? i believe in u”
Started a new sketchbook today and still have Wonder Woman on the brain 😜, so I drew this.
I read this somewhere and forget now from whom because I’ve been consuming a lot of Wonder Woman posts/reviews and I realized I shared their sentiment.
I really want Diana to be surrounded by women in modern day. I don’t want to see Diana isolated and alone in modern day! I want her to recreate, in her own little way, Themyscira.
Even if she isn’t pulling off flashy heroics, I want her to be quietly helping people because after Wonder Woman I can’t reconcile a Diana who would just do nothing.
Wonder Woman was good. Go watch it if you haven’t. If you have: go watch it again.
I love you
19 Real Life WWI Heroes Who’ll Inspire You To Find Your Inner Wonder Woman
Marvel fans: please go see Wonder Woman because it’s not very often that we get a superhero movie with a woman protagonist
DC fans: please go see Black Panther next February because it’s not often that we get a superhero movie with a predominantly black cast
What I’m trying to say is, these movies stand for something more important than your fandom
