A Cheat in Hard Mode (MCSMxIsekai!Reader)
Chapter 3.5: Event parties, and skeleton horses.
After successfully taking two skeleton horses, Petra and Y/N’s client invite them over to their event party, where Gabriel will be attending. To no one’s surprise, Y/N meets another canon character again.
Desc: Jesus, is this a MHA fic??
A/N: Part 2 of chapter 3 since tumblr couldn't post it all as one.
The party wasn’t too special, just some more than average richer people talking in their business casual attires, while Y/N was here with her pink button up top and worn down green denim pants. She looked like she was the one organizing the party, which was already her job in the town as its designated event designer.
She took a sip of juice they were giving out, nothing special. That was one thing she didn’t like about this world, such taboo concepts like having a red light district or even the existence of alcohol wasn’t present. She understands now why people go to conventions instead.
Her attention hovered over to her friend Petra, currently social networking with the other guests. It seems that she was selling herself as a ‘favor’ girl, the type of person who would get you your desired rare items from far away. Sometimes she would gesture over to Y/N’s direction, presumably referring to her as her assistant.
She looked over to Gwen and Joel talking to none other than Gabriel the warrior himself, clearly seeing how much the two couples were boasting about the horses. The worst part? It was working. “These horses weren't an easy feat to get, dear!” Gwen’s laugh bounced in a way you couldn’t afford.
Joel silently agreed before stroking the chins of one of the horses. “Our citizens have hidden gems amongst them, so much so they could get these stallions in under a day! But they’re not always so sure of themselves. If someone like you could encourage them, give them a push of courage, who knows how many warriors this town could be hiding!”
Gabriel hummed in thought from their claims, genuinely thinking about how his presence could, in fact, change the city for good. “You two are right. I suppose giving them a nudge in the right direction would do some good.” Gwen vigorously shook her head in agreement. “Yes, yes! That’s why we’d love it if you were to feature in next year’s Endercon to hold a bit of –”
“A keynote!” Joel interrupted. Gabriel looked to his feet, a semblance of guilt and shame only those who knew would understand. “Yes I… I suppose I can…” He grumbled. Leaning off of the wall, Y/N decided this conversation was not her cup of tea. Well, at least I know now why Gabriel suddenly appeared in Endercon. Y/N mentally noted.
Y/N was about to get another cookie in the catering area when a gust of movement caught her attention. She looked to her left, and saw a familiar shade of long black hair, along with a murky green robe. Maybe it’s a different person… She told herself.
There was no way that was really him, it was too early in the canon for him to be here? Oh god, what if my existence accidentally changed something? What if the canon actually starts now? Because of me?! Y/N anxiously fiddled a part of her braid while her feet tapped in a rhythm. Cold sweat started forming at her forehead, already making up plans on what to do next if it were.
But wait… She reminded herself. What if he was only here to gather more intel on Gabriel? There was no way he already had the ingredients for the wither. Just then, Y/N counted to herself to keep her breathing steady. Yes, that’s right! She shouldn’t be panicking over something she still has control over. Gathering herself up mentally, she went to the direction she last saw Ivor walk to.
Ivor was talking to the lady Jesse and the others would talk to in the building competition! I guess that makes sense… But what is he doing? Trying to look as discreet as she could, she walked towards the back of the woman. “Yes well, I suppose we could use more hands on deck…” She hummed. “Wonderful!” Ivor rejoiced, causing Y/N and the lady to jump a bit at his enthusiasm. “…I’ll have to run it with the event organizer to see if we need any more volunteers. But don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll welcome you in!” She chuckled before leaving.
Y/N could clearly see Ivor’s villainous scheme, complete with the tapping with his fingers and that devious smile. Y/N could roll her eyes over how obvious he was being. Taking this opportunity, Y/N walked over to the currently distracted Ivor. “Hey there.” Ivor screeched at the new presence in front of him, almost making Y/N screech herself too. “You! What do you want?” He snidely eyed the girl.
Y/N gave an unimpressed look before continuing. “…Yeah, hi! I heard you were going to volunteer for next year’s endercon.” Ivor’s eyes widened before pointing an accusatory finger to her. “And how did you know that? Were you eavesdropping?” He asked.
Y/N sighed before continuing. “No nothing like that. I just couldn’t help but hear, since I will be the event designer. I’ve only been recently hired to be the designer, so I want to get to know everyone’s tastes and preferences here as much as I can.” Y/N reached out her hand for Ivor to shake.
“My name is Y/N. You?” Ivor looked at the braided girl apprehensively, before realizing who he was talking to. “Yes, I know you…” Ivor hummed while striking his beard. Y/N stiffly put her outstretched hand to her sides. “You have? I’m flattered. My builds usually get lots of traction–”
“You’re that treasure hunter girl’s assistant, right?” He asked with such confidence. An empty smile replaces her genuine one before responding. “Yes… You got that right…” Ivor clapped his hands as if he made a decision. “Yes, very good. It’s good that you’re planning this event then.” “Oh I’m not the–” Ivor interrupted. “Doesn’t matter! This will surely make things easier.” He nodded his head. Christ, if I didn’t know him I would have reported his ass for suspicious behaviour… Y/N decided to change the topic before Ivor could expose himself.
“Look over there.” Y/N said, her eyes lock onto Joel and Gwen. Ivor’s eyes followed suit, only remaining at Gabriel’s figure. A snarl plastered itself on his face. “They’re doing everything they can to make Gabriel appear at the next convention.” Y/N sighed. Ivor took notice of the girl’s disinterest over the renowned hero. “Yes, he’s quite the catch, isn’t he?” Ivor worded his words carefully. “No, not really. I don’t have much of an interest in heroes.” Y/N responded, aware of how this was going to play out. Ivor raised his brow.
“And why’s that? Did you have a complication with one of the orders?” He asked. Yeah you. Y/N bit her tongue back.”Not at all. I just find it weird how the world congratulates people who murdered an innocent dragon in its own home.” Y/N shrugged. Ivor stiffened at the mention of the Ender Dragon before sighing.
“I suppose you’re right. They killed it merely for glory, and nothing else.” Y/N nodded in agreement before continuing. “I mean, they even disbanded right after their great battle. Makes you wonder what happened behind the scenes, no?” Y/N laughed. Ivor was getting uncomfortable by this point, but the girl wasn’t done.
“I mean, I’ve heard of the horror tales of Ellegaard and how she seemed so conceited with her knowledge of redstone, Magnus yearning for nothing but destruction, and I barely know anything about Gabriel the warrior, and… Soren.” Ivor eyed the woman before him. “The supposed leader of the order of the stone, goes missing after their greatest endeavor. I’m just not sure if I can see myself supporting such people.” Nore finished her long winded rant about each member.
“I’m surprised to know there’s still some smart people out there…” Ivor mumbled. Ugh, rude. “Remember this girl. Everyone loves believing in legends. But as time passes by, more and more people forget the true parts of each story. Until all of it is just…” Ivor looked longingly towards Gabriel, but hatred soon replaced his features. “Nothing but lies.” He finished.
Y/N chose to nod and hum.
A/N: Tumblr I just wanted to post a super long fic chapter ):
