I'm begging everything, living and non-living, for them to announce an adaptation of the spin-off tomorrow

I made Mob Psycho 100 motivational posters based on all the important lessons I took away from the series using official art
They're free for anyone to use I hope they help people feel good and motivated
I miss the girls. tsubomi keeps popping into my mind – I really like her
It upsets me how few female espers (and characters in general) we’ve seen
I make up my own, and find myself admiring other people’s
I just want some extra storylines about the mob psycho 100 minor characters
I won’t ask for anything else...
I’ll never stop thinking about the dystopian potential of the world of mob psycho 100
not something that goes to extremes, not quite so grand or obvious
topical, subtle and inescapable
terrible
It’s hard to tell, because I don’t like leaving an idea in its infancy, and it takes a lot of effort and time for me to describe in detail how it works (in my head, at least)
I just think about the role the state might play, in theory, in all the esper-related turmoil...
the canon has touched on this topic, but in my humble opinion, it wasn't sufficiently explained, only mentioned
and I’d like more mess and something unpleasant, so that is why the changes are needed, and this will be yet another AU, but canon related in many ways
every time I try to draw, it turns into an act of self-sacrifice on the canvas
success trips me up and I just end up wallowing in metaphorical paint and choking on it
because I was never good enough, my mental state was severely affected during the process and I’d get up from the table in tears
I really did give up and abandon what I’d dreamed of excelling at
I haven’t drawn for the last four years.
(those sudden comebacks, which ended with torn-out sheets of paper, don’t feel like proper attempts to me)
and six months ago I simply decided that I’d wasted enough time and it was finally time to build up my drawing muscles
(people around me have noticed some progress in my sketches, but, as usual, I’m very hard on myself...)
It really gets to me that people my age are achieving amazing things.
but, for goodness’ sake, if I carry on standing still, nothing’s ever going to get any better.
I believe that in order to improve my work, it has to be there in the first place
let’s keep going! ( ´ ▽ ` )
I feel really awkward when I realise that absolutely everything is turned on its head in my ageswap AU
I suppose it’s predictably—
because when characters grow up, they change (and conversely, people can be completely different as children) and this loophole inspired me so much that I got carried away and let my imagination run wild
of course, I try very hard to preserve their main traits, but for the most part I realise I’ve failed on that front
I remind myself that I’m doing this for fun and, first and foremost, for myself
stop stressing my stupid brain, please
Mob vs Touichirou and power vs connections meta
Ok so, the way Shou vs Touchirou fight and Serizawa vs Mob fight happened after each other has parallels as both Shou and Serizawa used a ball of energy against their opponents.
Mob stopped Serizawa’s ’s ball of energy, absorbed it, had Serizawa’s memories and feelings, and gave it back, along with his own memories and feelings. I assume Shou’s charge bomb would have had the same effect if Touichirou had chosen to understand like Mob did. Instead, Touichirou didn’t do anything at all, letting Serizawa stop it. if Touichirou had taken on Shou’s charge bomb properly, he would have faced Shou’s feelings and understood him. Shou is trying to have his feelings reach his dad the same way Serizawa’s feelings reached Mob and they were able to understand each other.
during Mob vs Touichirou fight, Mob absorbs Touichirou’s power and he immediately thinks Mob is trying to turn his power into his own to make his barrier more powerful, even though Mob literally gets to 100% compassion and started crying because he was absorbing Touichirou’s power trying to understand him, just like he did with Serizawa and 100% friendship, but Touichirou saw it as a threat. Mob asks how his life became so empty for that to be his reaction.
And unlike with Serizawa, Mob didn’t give Touichirou that power back. Which is for his own good as Touichirou’s body was already not handling that much power.
and then there’s also 100% kindness where Touichirou expected that Mob came back to kill him before the explosion to prevent it and Mob says leaving him alone would be really sad and tries to save him, then Mob absorbs Touichirou’s power, gets Touichirou’s memories and empathises with him about their love problems, and tells him “You have to tell her how you feel!”
Touichirou’s relationship with his wife needs its own post but just, she tried to be subtle about encouraging him to try to change and be better through taking care of a cat and he was upset, leaning in on how powerful he is so he doesn’t need to work on himself about anything else and he’s offended she even mentioned it. He thought of it as a challenge
And when you think back to the Shou vs Touchirou fight: even though Shou is going out of his way to face Touchirou head on, Touichirou is ‘disappointed’ that Shou didn’t try to stab him in the back and try to inherit the world.
it kinda hits that Touichirou can’t recognise acts of compassion or attempts at connection and/because he’s too focused on power and violence. like Touichirou believes in the world as kill or be killed and strong above the weak and its shown through even the little interactions in the fight between him and Mob that he can’t even identify when people are kind to him. (note how isolated Touichirou looks in the panels because of his powers)
he’s an outmost lonely person, its not because he didn’t have people ever be good to him- it’s that compassionate acts never reached him. and that makes mob cry about how lonely he is and compares that to his own feelings in mogamiland!
And this is Touichirou’s ideology; it’s his choice to view the world as kill or be killed/to see others as a threat or tools to use/and to view himself as absolute, that is isolating him. He made his life miserable for himself. And It’s not in a feel bad for him way but- *gestures to the tragedy of it all* and also in Mob going “ I dont wanna end up like that” way
He is self destructive> which is represented through his powers -that he considered making him absolute as he didn’t care for connections with others- being literally too much for his body and he needed someone - Mob- to help him absorb his powers and talk to, and that saved his life
I’m five seconds away from starting to write fanfiction myself and stopping all this grumbling
and in a way, I’ve got enough imagination to come up with the strangest pairing in the fandom (or just an unpopular one)
shoumob and riteru, watch out for me
or maybe shouriteru??
I’d like to see more development in the relationships, more challenges, and the characters working hard to overcome their inner fears and conflicts
especially in the case of serirei
I think my posts are partly connected, so yes, I’m coming back to the point that katsuya’s very limited screen time has had a negative impact on how he’s perceived within the fandom
(I’m not generalising, just sharing some of my observations)
often people view him one-dimensionally, focusing mainly on the most visible consequences of his trauma – anxiety, social awkwardness, insecurity. and that’s fine, but it’s not enough to fully reveal his character? I feel there’s a lack of in-depth exploration??
what’s more, sometimes it’s the case that they make him seem far too helpless and take it to extremes
he’s a grown man. he has his struggles, and I’m sure it was hard for him to come to terms with that. but we can see him developing, even if very little screen time is devoted to it (this is particularly evident in the reigen spin-off)
serizawa is clearly not standing still (though one cannot entirely rule out his self-reflection. I do not believe that the consequences of fifteen years of isolation and working for a terrorist organisation can be overcome in six months or a year), so it saddens me when his character is reduced to a single trait
I miss seeing the characters as individuals, rather than just within the context of their romantic relationships. and whilst the situation is less critical in reigen’s case, poor serizawa, more than I wish, gets lost in the background of their great love
and in truth, however much I love serirei, I often find myself thinking that I can’t quite picture their dynamic in my head, at least not straight away
I reckon they’re quite complex to develop, because they definitely have enough issues of their own and there’s no guarantee that their union will have a positive effect on them
perhaps I’m a pessimist. but relying solely on reigen’s uninhibited nature or katsuya’s infatuation or appreciation doesn’t strike me as the best idea
I'm not saying it’s impossible or that they aren’t suited to each other. It’s just that, in my opinion, they should have more time (ideally a description of how they gradually grow closer during that period)
and they need to be seen as more independent in the eyes of the fandom (specifically in the ship context)
although, you know, highlighting the really serious disagreements between them when they’re already in a relationship sounds like a brilliant opportunity to stir up some drama!
you know, those consequences that come when you don’t talk about problems and just believe that love will fix everything. I’m evil, haha!
this is not meant as a dig at anyone, nor is it an attempt to judge anyone for their preferences (。•︿•。)
it is simply an opinion, a few thoughts, and a touch of dissatisfaction. I'm just a fussy person
Touichirou relationships and goal meta
So I want to talk about Touichirou’s disconnect from people. I had made posts for Shou, Shou’s mom and Mob but this one is for his general attitude towards everyone else and how that relates to his main goal of leaving a scar in the world.
I think it’s pretty obvious that I’m much more drawn to the dark and gritty, realistic aspects of mob psycho 100
sweet and heart-warming take on the story is soul-soothing, but the heart-wrenching reflections on the characters' inner conflicts are what keep me going
I’m probably overreacting a bit, but it’s all part of the journey and the healing process, haha
the relationship between toichiro and serizawa means a lot to me
of course, my headcanons come into play: the story gets reworked and becomes, in a sense, less straightforward thanks to what goes on behind the scenes
In the canon, toichiro is an antagonist (we are shown some of his human qualities, but ultimately he is a supervillain, and that role has stuck to him). simple and clear
but I tend to give my favourite characters more depth, even if it only exists in my imagination
I just want to believe that serizawa had an influence on toichiro, that katsuya was something of an foreign element in his life and that’s why he mattered
the hope for their complex and nuanced interactions, which go beyond mere violence and don’t fit into the standard narrative of victim and tormentor – oh, my weakness
It’s clear that I don’t think what happened between them in claw could be healthy or right
just dreams, thoughts...
you know, if we're going to go after all flavors of fucked-up terumob for supposedly not being a tenable premise, or somehow 'missing the point'? one can easily argue the same for fluffy terumob.
given all the in-canon trauma standing between these boys, terumob as a concept is on some shaky-ass legs: teruki is projecting a fuckton of worship unhealthy idealism onto shigeo, and shigeo has every right to be wary of/angry about teruki's attempt to end him, for as long as it takes him.
they're still on family name terms at the end of the story, and teruki is still trying to get shigeo to spend more time with him. ONE leaves us with a long shot at anything between these two beyond casual friendship. (unless teruki is more forthright about what he wants? or shigeo realizes he can reciprocate?)
and the pair both have so much healing to do from the pain they've caused each other. whether they do so together or apart, it's gonna look ugly, perhaps for years.
i actually want to see that, too.
there's nothing wrong with sweet, tender wish fulfillment. there's also nothing wrong with examining how trauma can realistically play out in courtship or dating. and teenagers are not immune to toxic dynamics in relationships! if you truly believe this, i have a bridge i wanna sell you.
fluff does not mirror my experience of childhood in the slightest, but i'm not gonna shake my fists at its creators, and i'm not salty that it exists. it's beautiful. guess what? so is mogamiland terumob. so is codependent terumob. shame on all of you who felt it was OK to harass anyone for them.
people create AUs and draw and write for fun, and not everyone finds comfort or enjoyment in the same things. there should be room here for a wider range of emotional expressions. i mean, there sure is in the source material.
and there is already so much candy-coated marshmallow fluff in the #terumob tag. so much. i don't know about y'all, but i was happy to see some variety for once.
me seeing a mutual's happy post: "hell yeah buddy :)" *hits like*
me seeing a mutual's sad/vent post: "aww no buddy :(" *hits like*
The like button is heart shaped for a reason and the reason is that it means I love you
I love how different, interesting and delightful everyone’s ageswap au is
please don’t ever stop sharing your ideas, I beg you
I really, really need a detailed redemption arc for toichiro suzuki
he’s a total fucking asshole in the second season (his backstory is full of disgusting behind-the-scenes moments, really), but I’m madly in love with him
(he’s my favourite character, funfact)
just make him suffer and write a couple of thousand words about the breakdown of his personality and the frustration felt by anyone whose ideals crumble like a house of cards
I need him to reflect on it. it shouldn’t just happens - it has to literally wipe out everything that came before
make him face the consequences head-on
shove some humanity up in him, now that we’ve reached this turning point
I love him, so have intention to destroy him
