I love your "they ring the same bells for weddings and funerals" tag bc I work as a bell-ringer at one of the few churches in my city where you still have to ring the bell manually. and we do ring the same bell whether it's a wedding or a funeral! but ☝️ we also ring it if the local sports team wins at sports (the secret third thing that is neither a wedding nor a funeral)

They once considered making Torchwood (the series) into a musical and got Björn and Benny of ABBA fame on board. The MI5? They investigated doctor who (the sea devils) because they somehow accidentally made a nuclear submarine that was classified information. How? Stuck a random vacuum cleaner part on top of a model submarine, doctor who style. I could go on. I love this show.

Seriously though, with a lot of people, especially friends, you can shamelessly and blatantly trade pizza / food for help and labor <3

Eventually you get older. Your friends all have back problems and acid reflux. But by then you hopefully have a bit more stability. Enough to pay for a couple young strapping lads to haul your stuff around, and the favour your friends can do for you is feed you while your life is in boxes so you don't have to live on pizza. (You also have reflux.) Your friends want to help even if they can't lift boxes like they used to. Let them feed you.

I want a home mostly just to welcome people into it. There will be bowls of candy for guests, and the cookie jar is full. I’ll always say “I was just about to make a coffee/tea/cocoa, would you like one?” when somebody walks in. There’s lemonade and iced tea made fresh on hot days. Once it hits That Hour and they start saying they really should be going, I’ll remind them that the futon is always open, and I’m making cinnamon rolls tomorrow. There’s champagne and sparkling juice hidden on a high shelf just in case somebody announces their engagement or their pregnancy or their new job while they’re here. There is an extra chair in the living room, at the table, and on the deck, and it’s for you. I want to be able to say “if you’re ever in trouble, come to me.”
