“Hey, Daffodil, there you are!” he chuckled. It had been a good bet that she’d be interested, especially with the promise of sweets. And he always enjoyed spoiling his friends. “Yeah, I know - figured we could make a day of it down at the pier. Hit up the rides and overdo the sugar - of which I promise there’ll be cotton candy.”
“The Pier! No one ever wants to go to the peir with me! This is awesome!” Mostly because she gets distracted in large crowds but today should be slow. Leaving the front door open as she rushed back inside to grab her stuff. “Hey why do you call me flower?” Grabbing her bag of necessities and throwing on a windbreaker and some flip flops. The windbreaker being a highlighter yellow, nearly impossible to miss. “I think I’m set. Am I missing anything?”
“Cute little pumpkins are always fun and make for cute little gifts during Halloween.” She was a girl of simple delights for the most part, it was easy to make her happy. The store was small but a lot of cute little spooky items. “Lets go to the back first, I think I see cute little trinkets.”
Dory skipped to the back and found a table full of treasures. Dark little items all will different smells and textures. One thing that caught her eye was that of a sparkly little spider with wirey legs that moved. “I’d call him Frankie. Cute little Frankie.”
Maybe it was the fact that he was doing so well lately and Bruce was a classic self sabotager, Maybe it was the drinks he had before heading out, maybe it was the fact that Bruce hadn’t had an episode in a while and the anger had been building, but when the creep spoke like that about Dory his anger bubbled over. It was like something snapped inside him, and Bruce didn’t really know what was happening anymore. “She said back up” He snarled at the man as hist fist made contact with the man’s face. It should have ended there, but it never seemed to with Bruce when he was having an episode. Caleb and Drew called it his “going shark” but Bruce had no control or recollection of what was even happening. He continued to punch the man his anger growing with every connection his fist made with the man’s face.
Not quite sure how she was in any way asking for it but that wasn’t anything to set her off. Normally she would just walk along and say something sarcastic, but Bruce had taken this to a whole other light. Something she had never seen him do before. The drunked man before her was now looking like those faces in a haunted house. “We can just ignore him Bruce. You gotta stop.” But the damage had already gone too far and the best should could do was put her arm in harms way to push him back. “Drunk man, I’m so sorry he’s really a nice guy I promise.” She tried to explain to the man who was hardly concious enough to probably hear or understand what she was saying.
“I make music but I have been told I draw cute looking rabbits and cats.” He chuckled softly, tilting his head to the side. Yeah that would be a reason, a lot of my family are blonde.”
“Woah, that is so cool. You know my parents used to write me songs to help remind me of things. Music honestly saved my life.” She said over gesticulating during her speech. “If life was a musical I’d be one happy fish. But I do like your black hair though. It goes really nice with your eyebrows.”

“Dory!” Caleb knocked on the door. He’d gotten tired of his walls and didn’t want to hit the waves or work on the machines. Given his want to do something fun but not a nightclub, he’d gone straight towards the friend who he thought might want to join him. “Hey, Daffodil! I’m in a mood for some rides and sugar. You free?”
Dory had been drinking a coffee in the living room when there was knock at the front door of the house. Knowing it had to be for her when her name was called. Leaving the drink behind and going for the door. Opening it without even checking the peep hole to see who it was. “Sharky!” she exclaimed when revealed who it was. “You know I could never have enough sugar. Do you think there will be cotton candy?”
Bruce could see that Dory was uncomfortable and his anger was only growing from there. Dory was one of his sweetest friends and he was not about to let this person hurt her, or make her any more uncomfortable. “Hey she said back up.” Bruce’s voice was gruff and his fists were clenched at his sides.
Dory hadn’t noticed the fists yet so she for the moment being stood her ground along with Bruce. Glad to know she had a friend that was on her side no matter what. “Yeah back up, guppy.” She said sounding like any hype man at a comic show. But the man showed no guilt or regret and continued to hold his ground saying “She was asking for it, just look at her.”
“Awww,” Nani smiled towards her friend. First, she was impressed Dory had remembered that. But… “I love Steve. Thank you.” She was slightly more at ease now that they’d been walking around for a bit without anything overly terrifying happening. She was pretty sure she saw a rat and almost screamed. “Oh gods, why did that scare me?”
Dory flipped her hair proud of her accomplishment, or the amount that she had watched that show. She wasn’t sure which reason it was that she could remember. “Yeah Steve is pretty cool. I wonder if I should be his friend for halloween...” She got her notebook out to remember because it dawned on her that it wasn’t a bad idea. “What? What scared you?” Dory looked up from her notebook and the rat was now in a new hiding spot. “Did you see a ghost?”
