❝Forgive me, but I couldn’t help noticing the…Um…the odd position that you’re in.❞ An awkward smile graced Emily’s features as she regarded the man before her, curiosity swimming in her amber hues. She had been just in the middle of her afternoon romp through the park, to feel the shining rays of Sun on her face and the gentle wind breezing through her hair; the bookshop often became too stuffy during warm days such as this, so she enjoyed partaking in these walks when her break rolled around.
❝I came over to ensure you were alright, sir.❞ Her bright eyes shifted to the papers clenched lightly in his grasp and she tilted her head, loose raven hair flowing over her shoulder. ❝I do hope I am not too intrusive by asking, but are you writing something? You appeared to be in the depths of concentration.❞ Raising her arm, she set her handbag down on the wooden bench beside his feet. One of her beloved novels was nestled inside, its words ready to engross her, but this encounter was far more interesting in that moment in time.

At the voice, he blinked his eyes open, peering up at the rather pretty woman. A easy going grin spread across his features as his free hand rose to give a small salute in greeting, a wink underneath given along with them. “I’m perfectly fine, Miss.” He hummed before he finally righted his position, sitting on the bench properly without a struggle.
At the mention of writing, there was a nod as he laid out a booklet that had seen better days from his back pocket. It was obviously something he had poured his thoughts and story ideas into. “You have a good eye. I’m trying to write the ending for a story I’ve been working on for awhile now. I tend to go a very bitter sweet route, but I’m really trying to break out of that same song and dance, ya know?”
