Doug McClain - Reasons Why Helping Others is Important
Throughout the course of his life, Doug McClain has always had a desire to help others in whatever capacity he could. He does this in a professional capacity through his work in medical research, and on a personal level as a part of Living Word Ministries, which he has been a part of since the 1970s. Offering a helping hand to those in need is important for many reasons, including all of the below.
Improving Lives
There are few better feelings in the world than knowing that the work you have done has helped to improve somebody else’s life, if only a little bit. By helping others when they need a hand, you can not only help them become more active participants in their local community, but also get the benefit of feeling like you have accomplished something important in the bargain.
Creating Bonds
When you offer to help a person who needs it, you immediately create a bond that is very difficult to sever. You will often find yourself forming friendships that you will end up valuing immensely as you continue to live your life. Furthermore, you will also meet others who believe in the same causes as you do during the course of your efforts.
Understanding Issues
Doug McClain often points out that it is difficult to understand the issues that other people have to face until you actually make the effort to give them a helping hand. In doing so you will often come to realize what you can do in order to help with the social issues that affect your local community.
NIH-funded vaccine for West Nile virus enters human clinical trials
A new vaccine for West Nile Virus, sponsored and funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the National Institutes of Health, has begun testing in human clinical trials at Duke University. Researchers from the Oregon National Primate Research Center at Oregon Health & Science University, in Portland, began developing the vaccine in 2009 after receiving a $7.2 million grant from NIAID, and after successful animal-testing, the remedy is ready for human trials.
Clinical trials done on mice show that the vaccine is successful in protecting against the virus while also producing a positive immune response. The human trial will aim for similar success among its 50 volunteers – healthy men and women between 18 and 50 years of age.
West Nile has been a serious threat to public health since 1999, when cases of the infection began appearing in the United States. Spread predominantly by mosquitoes, the virus is responsible for over 40,000 infections and 1,500 deaths in the country since the turn of the century. Scientists hope that this will prove to be the first human vaccine approved for commercial use.

Doug McClain - Reasons Why Clinical Trials Are Important
In his efforts to help other people manage chronic illnesses as comfortable as possible, Doug McClain has been involved in the creation of a lot of medical research during his career. He has also conducted clinical trials on a number of occasions and knows that they are vital in order to prove that a theory created through research is a viable solution for a number of reasons.
Does The Treatment Work On Humans?
During the course of medical research you may try a number of different treatments on animals, but this does not necessarily show that the same treatment would have a positive effect on humans. A clinical trial is intended to demonstrate the effects that the treatment has on a person and, just as importantly, how pronounced those effects actually are. In essence, you will be attempting to show that you are making a step forward by creating something that works better than other treatments or can act as a viable alternative in cases where people can’t take the treatment that is usually prescribed.
What Are The Risks?
Doug McClain knows that practically every form of medical treatment has risks attached to it. In best case scenarios this can be as simple as considering the possibility of allergies and how the treatment may affect somebody whose body is not capable of absorbing one of the ingredients or chemicals used. However, a clinical trial will also allow you to study potential side effects that may not have been immediately visible during the course of your research. In some cases, these side effects may be so severe that they will prevent the treatment from being used in a medical capacity and it is crucial that this is discovered before the treatment is brought to market.
Doug McClain - Tips For Conducting Quality Research
As a researcher of unmet medical conditions for more than a decade at this point, Doug McClain understands the effort that goes into producing a quality piece of research that will actually be useful to the medical community at large. It is vital that your research and its results are as accurate as possible, so follow these tips to make sure your end product is not misleading in any way.
Remain Ethical
There are a number of ethical guidelines that are in place to ensure that medical research is conducted in a way that does not violate the participants’ rights. It is crucial that you adhere to this code of ethics at all times and conduct your research in the proper manner, else your results may be discredited before they ever get published.
Understand Your Aims
Before you start your research you should have crafted a detailed hypothesis that demonstrates what you aim to achieve or prove with the research and the parameters of the experiment you are about to conduct. It is vital that you stick to these parameters and don’t make an effort to manipulate your results in order to suit your hypothesis. Remember that even failed experiments can provide useful information.
Know Your Resources
As a medical research professional, Doug McClain needs to understand what resources are available to him and how he can use them to provide more thorough and accurate research. Take full advantage of whatever equipment and information is made available to you and use them to inform your hypothesis and research techniques.

Doug McClain - Reasons You Should Consider Adoption
Being a parent is one of the greatest joys that Doug McClain has experienced in his life and he is delighted to have raised six wonderful children with his wife. On top of this, he has also helped raise thirteen other children in an effort to provide them with a stable environment to grow up in and he offers the following reasons as to why people should consider adoption.
Changing Lives For The Better There are millions of children around the world who have been orphaned, many of whom will end up in care or suffer from an unstable childhood. By adopting, you will be doing what you can to help the most vulnerable children in society, providing them with the stability and love that they need to fulfill their potential in life.
Every Child Deserves a Chance No child chooses to be without a family, but unfortunate circumstances can place them in a position where they have fewer opportunities than children who do have loving parents. By adopting a child, you can help to tackle this injustice directly, ensuring that the child has a chance to develop into the person they have the potential to be and steering them away from the influences that might cause them harm.
Keeping Siblings Together Having recently secured full custody of three siblings, Doug McClain knows how important it is to keep relatives together. If you want a large family, you can help to maintain the bonds between siblings that might otherwise end up broken if they have to be adopted by different parents.
Doug McClain is a devout Christian, a loving father and a passionate immunotherapy researcher. What has encouraged McClain to accomplish all of this, and to be the humanitarian that he is today, is his faith in Jesus Christ. Fresh out of college, McClain traveled the world with Living Word Ministries and spread the Gospel across 67 states—he continued his travels for over 15 years.
