This blog is dedicated to the Ren'py visual novel, Danny Phantom Date Sim. As game development progresses, we will post updates periodically. CURRENT COMPLETION IS AROUND 75%. We are currently waiting on other contributors to send their artwork and scripts.
Yeah she’s an OC, made by @zalkyria and helped to be ruined by me. She’s a gremlin that dreams of being a journalist, loves all things spoopy, adores Amity Parks new ghostly hero and follows him everywhere trying to get the latest scoop. She was made around 2012. Largely a comedic character. She’s also in the Shorty Squad with Sam
So it has been a year since we've last informed you guys about the update of the game. One I can say it is still being made, just we've all have become extremely busy. I have semi-sad and good news, the sad is we were recently informed of the departure of one of our bachelorettes for the first game, Cassie Whitworth. Although, this is sad news to see a character with so much potential go from the first game she will most likely be in the second game instead as a new bachelorette. With this, it will give @funkatronicdea more time to flesh out the character and work on it when they have more free time. So I wish them all the best, they will still be helping out with our villain sprites so they didn't completely leave the game. We won't be opening up the slot for another girl, we will keep it as we have it now. The reason for this is considering how long it has taken for us to make this game. We want the game to be done so that everyone that has been watching this project grow, can finally get their hands on it. @arabian-magic and I will try our best to finish the game, we just both need to find time to work on it.
hi!! no rush at all, obviously, but i was curious if you guys had any more updates since the last time you posted? :3c
Slowly but surely! Currently we’re waiting on other members to contribute, but we’ve gotten a decent chunk of the game done and we’re planning on creating a demo soon!
I know in our last post, I’ve mentioned that there was a possibility of finishing up the game at the end of the year.
...Weeeell that isn’t the case.
It’s not that we’ve been slacking, Twilight and I would consistently work on the game a couple of times per week, speaking with our coder (who has been a HUGE help) and adding in scripts.
I would be lying if I said we hadn’t gotten a lot done, which we did. We have dialogues for every week of the game properly spaced and coded. However since three of our bachelorettes are from other contributors, Twi and I have been playing the waiting game for them to send over what they have. Since the last update earlier this year, we’ve gotten a fair amount. However due to time constraints, busy work schedules, and some setbacks from Hurricane Irma, we haven’t gotten as much as we’d hoped.
We aren’t blaming them for anything though! We appreciate the time they take to work with us to get his game done. Obviously it’s not a quick as many other games because this is based on volunteer work and the fact that it’s an entire team instead of just one person.
With that being said, the game itself is around 70-75% done. With our newest coder we’ve been able to knock out core aspects that we were having trouble with before, so coding isn’t so much of an issue anymore. It’s mainly just waiting on the scripts and artwork from others.
So let’s move on to the actual game updates!
Thea is now known as Blair. We’ve opted to change her to her ghost form whilst interacting with Danny in his dreams.
A double feature. This is Adriana Santana, a new bachelorette and a third character of mine. Along with her is our normal choice menu, however we’ve updated it so that it is impossible to scroll back and choose another option. So choose your responses wisely.
Gwen McBride is another new bachelorette, both her and Adriana were last minute decisions after some of our original contributors opted out of the project. She belongs to Twilight!
Cassie Whitworth is a third new bachelorette into the game, belonging to Funkatronicdea.
Some bachelorettes will have a double scene with another. In this case, Misty and Gwen are friends so Danny will often find the two of them together. This also means you can either please or piss off both of them!
Other additions and changes:
We’ve removed the energy bar due to confliction with other codes.
A fourth new bachelorette, Maria Suarez, has been added to the game. Currently awaiting emotions from her owner.
Added a money and backpack system to allow purchases.
Added a gifting system along with those purchases.
More easter eggs and surprises!
That’s all for now and thank you guys for being patient!
Anyway, after months of not being able to do anything, we’ve recently had a good week of adding more to the game! Scripts and coding wise, I’d say we’re about 40-50% done at this point. Hopefully we’ll have this game done before the end of this year, maybe by the end of summer!
The game is still being worked on! Slowly but surely, it will be done. We are just waiting on emotions and scripts. So please be patient with us. For now, enjoy Thea breaking the fourth wall.
Dance With Me: Looking for Coders/Programmers - Free
Hi everyone, my friend and I are currently working on a dating sim for a show known as Danny Phantom. We've posted about it before, and quite frankly, our coding is a bit of a hot mess.
Neither of us are pros at python or Ren'py coding in general, so we've been going off a lot of tutorials and trial and error. We've had others help us in the past, however they've all kind of vanished without a trace. Currently we are in a time of need, especially when it comes to certain elements, such as an in-game shop and inventory.
The game is supposed to run about 4 weeks, and we've only managed to get about a week and a half done. Our biggest concern is our weekends, which is the game's "free days" allowing the player to roam and choose what they want to do. We have our game set on a timed schedule which shows phases of the day (which is directly taken from the moon phase tutorial) this option however does not exist yet on the weekends because we're unsure how to implement them!
So, long story short, we need help with the more complicated stuff. We run into more errors and glitches than not and we'd appreciate if anyone would like to step forward and help us with our project.
Thanks!
Hey there Danny Phantom fandom! What say you about having a little OCT?
I’m in the middle of reworking various elements (reworking the plot, creating applications, and rewriting entry rules) for this original character tournament, but before I really get into things I want to know how you all feel about there being a Danny Phantom original character tournament!
For those of you who don’t know what an OCT is, it’s something like this. Basically, people telling a story about an OC of theirs, through either comics or even literature (which I’ll be allowing this time around), fighting other people’s OCs.
I really want to hear your opinions about this so please respond to this post and also please at least signal boost this!!! So what do you guys think?
Over the summer, we were hoping to move production along even more, expect it did the opposite. Due to some circumstances, another bachelorette leaving, and the general busy lives of all of us, we haven’t had any progress with the game.
With that being said, we’ve officially knocked our bachelorette lineup to 9. This way with less people to rely on, there will be more chances to work on the game as a whole.
Unfortunately, because most of us are college students, we don’t have as much free time. We will, however, squeeze in what we can and hope for a release sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately one of our members has decided to remove her character for the game, leaving us with an empty space. If you’d like to submit an entry for your character to be a bachelorette of the game, read the journal here.
So for those that downloaded and played the demo already know that it was an april fool’s joke. I just want you guys to have a little taste of it even if its just the tutorial. We still have a lot of stuff to get in order and add in before we can officially release a demo. I hope you guys enjoyed it though.
Hello again all! I figured I'd give a heads-up on what's going on. Since our last post, we've found a new bachelorette.
I've also posted an updated a preview on deviantART, but I figured this blog could use some as well.
What's added?:
A slot next to the calendar that tells you the phase of the day (Dawn, Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Dusk, Night)
New graphics including custom buttons and a personal name tag for Danny!
An energy bar that depletes consistently throughout the day.
An option to tell the game whether or not you've played before-to avoid having to go through the tutorial for repeat players.
What's changed?:
The size has been changed from 800x600 to a bigger, less crowded 900x675.
Thea was revamped for a second time.
Unfortunately I can't give too much away, however we've done a lot in the past few months! It's safe to say this game might be officially ready to release in the summer, hopefully!
Due to the heightened offline activity of one of our members, we're short one. I advertised on deviantART here. I got 2 results, however, it is not first come first serve. I figured if there was anyone o the tumblr side who'd like to give it a try. I'm asking for more entries because I know a lot of you want to see this game up and running, so your help would be appreciated! We're also looking for more bachelorettes for our second game.
I know it's been a while since there's been an update on this, but I promise we're still working on this game! Currently we've hit a road block due to our coder going MIA. We're trying to get things out of the way like a money/inventory system, health bar and battles. So far we have a fair clue on how to do this, but we're officially stuck without a coder to review our work.
With that being said, if anyone has any experience with ren'py scripting and has some time to review what we have so far, that would be great.
In the meantime, we'll show you what progress we have so far:
Thea introduces herself and explains the mechanics of the game before giving you the overall purpose of the game.
A date was added in game as you can see in the upper left hand corner.
You've seen this before with our very first post. The graphics have changed. It's the first in-game menu you will see.
Depending on what you choose will activate the love meter for that specific bachelorette. Unfortunately, Danny didn't have luck with Paulina.
Tucker has gotten a makeover thanks to SpectralSpartan.
A preview of the battle system. Unfortunately we're having a layering issue...
Danny will encounter not only his ghostly enemies, but his high school enemies as well. During random times in the game you will run into Dash.
Sometimes the bachelorettes will share their problems with Danny. How Danny will respond is up to you.
With halfa bachelorettes, Danny is going to run into their ghost forms. They don't have a love meter but you can become friends or enemies with them.
Some bachelorettes will be harder to earn love points with than others. Clearly, Ruby isn't fond of Danny boy here.
There will be places to go that has more than one bachelorette to talk to, so who will you choose?
The amount of sass in this screencap is overwhelming. Every ghost girl is going to react differently than their human counterparts. If they were nice to Danny Fenton, don't expect them to behave the same way to Danny Phantom.
Some ghosts can influence how Danny interacts with others later on. Be careful what you say around them.
On the weekends, Danny is free to go out and do whatever. One we have the money system implemented, chores will earn you money to buy gifts for the bachelorettes.
As you can see, there's many choices to pick from when wanting to go explore the town, each place will have someone to interact with. The mall itself is another hub of choices.
Certain bachelorettes you can only interact with during certain times of the day. Here you can find Michelle in the food court (background still has yet to be made).
Last but not least, we have this nifty tool called the info screen. Here it gives basic information about all the bachelorettes you will encounter, minus ghost forms. The "Relationship" status changes depending on how many points you have on the individual love meters. The description will change as well, depending on how you first interacted with them. Other things marked with question marks will be changed later on as you interact with them.
And that's it! We've come a long way but we still need help. Feedback is always appreciated!
But I really would like a response. I’m not going to make this official if just one or two people want to do this. I really want this to be fandom wide like Phanniemay.
Seriously, we all know how much season 3 sucked and how seasons 1 and 2 episodes weren’t…
