PoM - Differences Well, I decided to draw the new movie and the TV show versions at once. Brrr, the new movie version was similar to a torture. But I have to practice. I like their new appearance, too, but the older is better. What do you think about the new movie? Do you wait it? Time: about 3 hours. Used: A4, colored pencils.
Idea and artwork © me, a 15 years old girl. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, Private © DreamWorks.
I sooo get where you’re getting at! I just loathed the movie and how infantilized Private was. Btw, spanking job you did there especially with the colors!
I was at Komikon 2016 last Saturday and found @trisketched (whom I currently go to the same school as) offering to do commissions! I didn’t come prepared with references though! So I had the next best thing: my new sketchbook which I hardly take out of my bag (I probably wouldn’t have brought it if I put it out the other day) and which has way way less character sketches. All I had were the studies of Fr. Horacio Luis V. de la Costa (a legendary historian Jesuit from my country) which I worked on during my Holy Week retreat in Ateneo de Manila University, and the good father’s been haunting me (in a good way) lately. I asked @trisketched to add whisky and smokes ‘cause the good father was quite known for his chain smoking and drinking binges. Anyway, thanks a-plenty Tristan for the super kewl job you did! *kowtows*
I did this little take on Southeast Asia after seeing the Earth’s map from It Could’ve Been Great. Now I know this may not be super accurate since places in Southeast Asia (particularly my country) get rendered in oversimplified silhouettes, but I found this interesting to do anyway.
I bumped into this on TvTropes and can’t find the exact source, but I made a little addition to the Philippines. My island’s apparently missing in the Steven Universe world.
My Gravity Falls-related hauls from Fine Arts Week in UP Diliman!
Never really got to make any fan art for this show. Thanks for the ride Alex Hirsch!

One of the greatest mysteries in Gravity Falls is how an old man can be so buff
I go to the same school as the artist now, and I just so happened to snag a print of this yesterday at the annual Fine Arts Week!
For starters...
A lot of crap happened last year. Friends dying, an uncle being gone on Christmas Day, being someone’s backup friend and realizing it (the little gremlin’s gone on Tumblr fortunately, and I unfriended her on Facebook), it’s been one heck of a ride. I finally got to update my OS, so Tumblr’s been swell right now. Just need to pick up the pieces. I’ve been really inactive here and in my creative pursuits. It’s time to turn a new leaf now!
Oh, they are fine, the usual stuff, not much has changed since you *sniff* LEFT us... In all seriousness, it's good to hear from you again, i hope you'll decide to return to the forum later, it'd be nice to see some old faces again!
Hey sorry for the super duper late response!Aww, you’re making me tear up man. Jk. But really, I’m flattered! Thanks. Sure I’ll return, but maybe when it’s a few eps before the finale? I’ve been rather busy with school and thinking some crap through ‘cause I’ve been going through sporadic depression (and procrastination) phases as of late; I’ve been really down for the past few weeks.
Anyway, I still have your Skype! Maybe I could talk to you from there if ever.
frozone. Some days it takes a little longer to find your super-suit.
Keep it cool now!
Kinda wary of an article or author who is toting something like “yeah, I put gay characters into my story! Deal with it!”
There are circumstances when it’s warranted. Naturally. Blanket statements are pretty dumb.
But the “U MAD?!” tones always make me not want to participate in their work.
I’m gay so I’m all for gay characters but it’s really not a big deal to me at all. Not a deal breaker; not an instant attention grabber. Whatever you wanna do, go ahead.
If anyone has to rely on “minority marketing” tactics to make their product seem interesting, chances are it’s a shit product.

Toto was born in the Philippines with a heart condition that without surgery will result in death. In the U.S., surgery to correct ‘Tetralogy of Fallot’ is performed within the first 6 months of life. Without surgery survival is 75% to age 2; 60% to age 4; and 30% to age 10. Toto is 6 years old and needs surgery ASAP! Please make a lifesaving contribution today!
My Californian history professor is running this donation drive on behalf of a boy here in my country with a heart condition. Toto, the young lad, is in dire need of a heart surgery which would surely be life-saving. If you’re willing, please do donate! Or at the very least, please reblog this and spread the word! Have a <3, save a <3!
I found this really cool editorial cartoon from 1913 at the Bear Flag Museum blog wherein the Californian Bear jumps out of his flag. And yesterday (by my timezone) was the 165th California Admission Day to commemorate California’s entry into the Union as the thirty-first state. So whoo-pee-doo!
And let’s see... My favorite history professor and his family are certified Bay Area folks, my favorite travel blogger (and friend) is from San Francisco, an aunt of mine & her family along with my grandma live in Los Angeles, and a dear friend of mine who happens to be the nephew of an acclaimed writer from my country stays in Sacramento. So I guess I’ve got a reason to celebrate this day then!

I haven’t been active on tumblr latey ‘cause of the heavy memory usage here in my laptop’s case. The poor thing needs some air now that its disc space is suffocatingly low. Not only that, it uses an outdated Mac OS X 10.6.8. I’m still self-fundraising for a new external hard drive to back up my stuff. Anyhooty, to anyone (who cares), I’ll now be uploading vintage Filipiniana (AKA stuff from my country before the mid-1970s at least). Those may be images I picked up somewhere like the Facebook group Manila Nostalgia (credit will be given of course) or heck photos of my private collection (which is still shamefully measly). More importantly, I’ll be putting up photos of things from the place I volunteer at: a heritage house with the biggest darndest collection of old magazines! The Rosendo Mejica Collection. You’ll be seeing stuff hardly accessible on the Internet like old covers of Philippines Free Press magazines and local ads from yesteryear. Other than that, I’d like to give a spotlight to vintage Philippine illustration, so there’ll also be old cartoon strips like Mang Ambo (English: Mr. Ambo) or illustrated commercials of local brands like PureFoods. But just to give some distinction, I’ll put up specific tags for such. What I really expect is for someone to come out of the woodworks and give a shout out on who the illustrator might be, because many of these works, sadly, are unsigned. So here’s my first upload of a Philippine illustration: an ad of Tancho, a brand of Japanese pomade my grandfather used to use, dated from the June 11, 1970 issue of The Sunday Times.
Do you ascribe to the g4g theory?
At this point in time, no. I personally love the idea of Stanley being their grandfather and I wish they’d gone that route with the story, but as of now it seems like they’re really both just great uncles.
I can see why the writers did that; making Stanley a grandfather makes everything a bit more complicated and they only have so much of season two (which I’ve heard through the vine is likely the end of the show - a movie might be released afterwards?) left to deal with the current character conflicts and arcs. Stanley already has his arc with repairing his relationship with Stanford, so I can see why they wanted to focus on that instead; the bonds formed between twins/siblings is one of the biggest themes in this show.
Some people have called that “chickening out” because it would be complicated to write, but you have to take into consideration that GF doesn’t have a lot of episodes left. If S2 is the end like we think it is, we probably only have 10 or 11 episodes left. With that in mind, I don’t think that Hirsch and crew could cram in a whole “btw Dips and Mabel: Stanley’s your grandfather and now you have to get used to this” arc and also give the Stans’ sibling relationship the focus and effort it needs and focus on Dipper and Mabel’s upcoming conflicts with one another and focus on Bill’s upcoming apocalypse. When you’re a writer you have to make tough decisions, and sometimes those decisions cut out some really cool ideas due to time constraints and bigger priorities.
However… some of the things the Stans said in AToTS and some of the Shermy timeline we’ve figured out are wonky… so I’m not entirely convinced that it’s debunked yet. But for now, no, I don’t ascribe to the g4g theory simply because I’m pretty sure it’s debunked.
It’d be cool to make an AU out of it, though. Have people done that already?
Actually I won’t hate you for not subscribing to G4G, because I’m one of those who feel that it’s a rather bad story element; the show’s theme after all’s centered on summer and we’re here to see how the Twins’ work their summer vacay out and stuff like their parents and how school is for them, basically things not seen in their summer, should be left out or at least kept discreet. Why would we want to see direct family like their grandpa?
