Robotics Age: The Journal of Intelligent Machines, 1982
1999. “Y2K Fears” news spot examining the hype and facts around the Y2K bug
diabolical-n-coder:
He didn’t question the continuous ask of his robotic status,whether he was a robot or not.He felt like he shouldn’t ask it wasn’t his job to,his job was to get her working again.
“Well,theres not much to go off on,i crash landed here and now im stuck on this island,Thats its so far till i get back home.”
He glanced over to her then back over at the laptop.It had finally booted up,all he needed was to type a code in then it would be fully functional.He didn’t really care all that much about this laptop,it was just a throw away,he would break it a part and use the scraps for a new laptop.Once it was on and loaded,he got to work and opened up the usb folders and started to scan through them.
“But in all honesty,id would love to just stay here and research about this planet,theres so much that i don’t know.And humans are so interesting,much different from home…home is just full of robots and creatures who both don’t care about anything and just riot to no end,there was a huge war between them,during that war i escaped and travelled the universe.Only to be shot down by cortex”
He sighs,and highlights a line of code in her system,he then moves that code to a note pad,keeping it for later,so he can fix it.He does this several times while going though the code.He stops as he finds a certain line of code,he glances back over to her,How curious and embarrassing.He chuckles finding himself amusing,he couldn’t help it,he burst into a fit of robotic laughing.
“heh..hhaha! m-maybe you should of deleted your history!”
He shook with laughter.
“u-unless this is part of the virus! ahaha!”
@dr-n-hance
N. Hance just lay there, absorbing all of the information N. Code was telling her. It was fascinating to learn about another robot, she hadn’t met one as competent as him before. And he was from another planet? A planet full of robots sounded infinitely interesting to her, but it was no good if all they did was riot. She had little interest in war.
She could see N. Code highlighting pieces of information. She knew her way around her own brain, but she was just so clogged with pop-ups and malware that it was overwhelming to sift through it all. When Code found an embarrassing line from her search history, she just laughed.
“Haha yeah! These viruses have been pretty brutal,” she said, “they made a bunch of weird stuff come up on my screen and in my files.” Honestly she didn’t know if the line he highlighted was from the virus or her own search history, but she wasn’t about to take responsibility for that.
She processed everything he’d said before she finally responded. “Yeah, the islands here are pretty interesting! There’s a lot about them that led to me coming here, and pretty much being the way I am now.”
Harass my muse with questions about their relationships, their past, their future or anything else you’ve always wanted to know but never asked.
Make them question their actions or decisions, or think about things they’ve never considered before.
diabolical-n-coder:
He gave an amused look and quickly started opening the metal box,inside was various tools.Some alien looking,some quite normal ones.He picked up a simple looking screwdriver.
✘”Hmmm,nice to meet you,its good to see another robot around”✘
He started unscrewing a panel on the side of her head.Once the screws where gone,he reached in,moving wires and other things out of the way.Reaching back with his other arm he grabbed a wire that had clips on the end of it and clipped it to one of the devices in her head,he then turned around and grabbed a small laptop off his desk.He walked back over,the sound of metal clunking as he got closer.Gripping the other end of the wire he slotted it into the side of the laptop,it was like a makeshift usb stick attached to a wire that was connected to her mother board.Booting the computer up,he waited as it loaded.
✘“so any questions or do you want to talk about something while we wait?”✘
N. Hance felt a small spark run through her circuitry when N. Code hooked her up to the laptop. She felt connected to the device and could see inside of it like she could her own brain, but there was nothing to see yet as it was just starting up. In the meantime, she just lay there and displayed her usual smiling face on her monitor.
“Sure! You’re N-N-N. Code, right? Why don’t you t-t-tell me a little about yourself?” she said, folding her hands on top of her chest. “You seem like an interesting person. And you’re a robot, right? I’d l-l-love to get to know you!”
cncmy-to-all:
Well, looks like he had to answer at this point.
Truth be told, his helmet served many functions. Boosting his memory, easing the pain, and more.
Still, he didn’t want her to know any of that. Besides, she asked an entirely different question, one that he could truthfully answer.
>> “It’s shaped like a skull because it’s symbolic. Skulls represent death, and death is the universal enemy.”
N. Hance looked thoughtful. She’d been messing with him, but N. Nemy actually gave her an insightful answer. “Ahhh, now that I can relate to!” she said, putting a finger to her chin. “Death, who needs it, right? That’s why I’ve decided not to die!”
@cncmy-to-all (continued from x)
“Haha, you’ve got a point!” she said with a smile. “But then again, I’m basically a computer program, so having a computer for a head just makes sense. What’s your excuse?”

cortexscommandos:
“WAAH!”
Winnie yelped as she was unexpectedly held up by the doctor. She was confused, and even a bit afraid, but couldn’t help but be flattered by her comment. She doesn’t usually get complements.
“Oh, gosh…eh.. t-thank you, ma’m! B-but I don’t I’ve seen you around here before, could I ask who you are?”
“Certainly! I’m Dr. N. Hance,” she said, rocking Winnie a little in her hands before putting her down. “I’m fairly new here, so that’s why you probably haven’t seen me before! I’m a scientist who studies robotics.”
Winnie was particularly interesting to her. She was an animal, but yet she wore the garb of a lab worker. Most of the talking animals that N. Hance has met on the island didn’t work with scientists.
“I couldn’t help but notice your little uniform there! Are you a scientist too?” she asked, a smile on her monitor.
diabolical-n-coder:
He looks up from his work.A look of genuine surprise crosses his face.
✘“sorry what?,wait virus?”✘
He knew that he should just ignore them and carry on but he was kind of curious at the same time as to who this person was and it would give him an opportunity to learn their code for future references.
In a state of panic he grabs them by the shoulders and guides them to his desk full of computer stuff and computers.
✘”Sit here will you.I,Dr N-Code will fix you up the best I can!”✘
He grabbed a small metal box and wandered over to a long medical table,there he placed it on it.Then turned back around towards the other.
✘”Shall we begin?”✘
“Sweet, th-thank you!” she said, her voice glitching a little as she talked. N. Hance walked along as N. Code guided her around, grateful for the help, as she couldn’t see through her webcam properly because of all the viruses. She then climbed up onto the table and lay down flat on her back, quiet for a moment before speaking up.
“...... I’m N-N-N-N. Hance, by the way. I work with robots!” she said quickly, realizing she hadn’t even introduced herself.
@cortexscommandos
“Aww, aren’t you adorable!” she said, picking up Winnie.
@diabolical-n-coder
“Hey, you! You’re a hacker, right? Get these viruses off of me!” she said, running up to N. Code with dozens of pop-ups on her screen.

△ Name one thing from their past that they regret.
(( She regrets the actions she took that led to her needing a new body. This is a work in progress so I won’t say too much but some of the stuff she did led to her getting sick and stuck in a cycle of harmful behavior. ))
✂ If they had to choose one weapon to carry forever, what would it be?
(( her fists! they’re her greatest asset, her fingers have all kinds of plugs in them and her elbows have boosters in them that can make her metal punches hit extra hard. ))
☾ What is their favorite and least favorite thing about the night?
(( She doesn’t really go out at night because everything is hard to see on her webcam, but she likes that its a signal to go home for the day and do her own thing. ))
