After mulling over it for the past few days I’ve come to the decision to archive this blog. You can find the old man and me over here and I have every intention of continuing any established thread I have with partners who want to continue writing with me.

Just a little heads up for you all! I have my Botox injections on the 18th so dad and I will be heading up to Seattle tomorrow and staying with my mum’s family until the 29th. I will be bringing my laptop with me but I don’t know how often I will be around. This is technically the second Christmas without my mum but considering she passed so close to it we were all still in shock.
I’d love to get some new stuff going so this is also a starter/plotting call. Give this a like and I will get in contact with you during the week or when I get home!

He eyed the extended cup for a moment, one dark brow arched in a rather tired form of curiousity then nodded and reached out to accept it with a muttered ❝ thanks. ❞ He didn’t take it straight away - due strictly to the fact he’d seen his grandfather down it on countless occasions, and his reaction to it was always telling.. so he figured that if he took a few moments to steel himself, his own reaction might not be unbearably ridiculous. – A deep breath before the plunge; he lifted the cup’s rim to his lips and turned it back, and downed the entirety of its contents with one especially harsh swallow - followed immediately there- after by a full-body shudder and an expression of disgust. Of unbridled displeasure. ❝ That’s… ❞ He paused briefly, struggling to find a respectful way to phrase his objection. ❝ absolutely HORRENDOUS. ❞ ( That worked. ) For the first time in quite a while, a weak chuckle thrummed in his throat at that notion. ❝ Mn, I have no doubt she’s spent a good bit of time with Lancelot lately.. so the thought probably DID cross her mind. ❞ ( Part of him would have been thrilled by it.. But he knew she was rather like her cousin in the fact she too was rather protective of their grandfather. They ALL were, of course. No one quite so fiercely as Lancelot.. but Fern was probably a close second.. ) ❝ – I wouldn’t know. All I’ve ever seen from her are those looks Stephanie used to give me.. All I ever see when I look at her is Steph. ❞
"It tastes much better when you mix it with wine and I'm sorry I gave it to you straight but I'm honestly struggling right now," Vladimir said as he shifted a little in discomfort. He had been kept drunk and high as a slave and hadn't touched either since his brother, sister and uncle got him off of the drink and the drugs when he was thirteen but that by no means meant he didn't deal with cravings or the want to just give in to the oblivion that he sometimes missed dearly.
The older man looked back over at his granddaughter and her boyfriend when Daniel said that all he could see in the girl was her mother, "She does take after her mother in looks but everything about what makes her is all you." He said before admitting something Daniel's ex-wife admitted in an argument between her and Fern that he had unfortunately walked in on the last time he stopped by the Harrow house in order to try and see Fern. "You didn't hear this from me but part of the reason Stephanie has sometimes been half-assed in trying to actually help your daughter is that Fern is too much like you for her mother's taste."
He reached over and wrapped an arm around Daniel so he could hug him close for a moment, "I look at that beautiful young woman and see the strength that helped my brother and I stand up to an empire and the strength it takes for me to keep living countless lives and strength it will take when I have to bury you and the others that I've let close starting with a baby I found in the midst of death and destruction."

Vladimir gave his grandson a knowing smile and held up the cup he had brought out. It was a dose of the pain medication he took and considering he was a drug addict and an alcoholic it had to work on both the former knight's bone and nerve pain without the side effects and dangers. It was a druid secret that Myrddin or Merlin himself had come up with in order to help his nephew, "Try this little one." He said before looking down at Daniel's daughter and her boyfriend.
"You should have seen the look on that boy's face when he figured out where he was and who your uncle Artur is." The Sarmatian/Celt said as he leaned against the wall. "Of course the first question he asked me when Fern told him who I am in the scheme of things was did I sleep with Guinevere? Gods above I did not realize how much Fern gets from us... I thought she was going to pick up Excalibur and relive Callan of his manhood right then and there. You didn't tell me that she's picked up the Drăculești glare as some of my volunteers call it."

From his chosen perch on the wall he could see Fern and Callan curled up together like little Lovebirds - Callan with his guitar resting across his lap quietly playing some tune he’d written, and Fern with her head resting on his shoulder. ( In truth, he still wasn’t quite certain how he felt about the two of them.. but he did feel infinitely better about Callan after a number of conver- sations they’d had - without Fern’s knowledge, of course. ) As for himself? He was absentmindedly flexing the surgically repaired muscles and tendons in his hand, biting back a hissed string of curses with each movement caused by the flexing and relaxing of his fingers - the opening and closing of his fist. – Mentally? He was doing a fair bit better than he had been the day Artur and Vladimir had come to the Institute.. but he was still tired. Still not quite right - as evidenced by the fact he’d spent so much of his time tucked away. Silent. Avoidant. He’d no way of knowing what time it was, or just how long he’d been seated there on the wall when he was alerted to the fact he was no longer alone. ( Somehow, during the earliest stages of his recovery from that self-inflicted wound, his watch and his phone had been stolen.. ) ❝ – Grandfather, ❞ The most he’d said all day - that lone word offered in acknowledge- ment of his elder’s presence, and in greeting. ( It wasn’t really a greeting at all, but it would have to suffice. )
A few weeks ago Vladimir was working in Australia in order to avoid an International incident and it had been if his heart stopped when his brother had called him and said that Daniel was being taken to the hospital with a severe wound down his arm. The centuries-old man had rushed to the hospital and had been by his grandson's side throughout it all. When it became clear that Harrow would need extensive surgeries and physical therapy Vladimir, Artur and a cousin also named Vladimir had insisted Daniel, his daughter Fern and her boyfriend Callan allow Artur and Vladimir bring them back to northern England and to Daniel's ancestral home.
Everyone let Harrow be for the most part so that he could work through whatever had sent him into the depressive state that had caused the accident but was slowly urging him to come out and get the fresh air that he needed. Vladimir had been working in the hospital he ran at the wall but had ventured out to take a break when he heard Callan start playing his guitar.
"Hey, baby boy." He said as he joined Daniel along the wall, it was not widely known that soldiers used to patrol on Hadrian's Wall itself so there were stairways and walkways that were still usable. "How's the pain today?"

It was nice to finally have an explanation of the situation. Everything seemed to make a little more sense to Danielle now. “I see. Well I believe that to be a very noble thing that you have done.” She smiled a little.
Still, even though some things had been cleared in her mind, other new questions began to appear. “So how long do you have to be in the form of a bear for exactly?” Her brow furrowed a little in the frustration that her understanding appeared to be so short lived. “Is it for a short time or eternity or what, exactly?”
The bear went over to Vladimir and gently nuzzled him, causing the knight to smile a little and rest his forehead against Artur's for a moment. The love and the bond the two brothers shared would have been clear to even the blind, "There is some truth to the Once and Future King part of the legends my dear." Artur said as he looked over at Danielle. "Just not quite how it is written."
And I asked to share my brother's burdens so I will be by his side for as long as it takes." The bear then smiled again as he sat down next to his brother "I can take human form now and again, would you like me to show you?”
Vladimir was finally starting to feel back at home in England, King Edward IV had ended the exile of him and his brother Artur after he married Elizabeth Woodville and the Sarmatian/Celt had been named Royal Physician, an adviser and a part of the structure of the Royal Guard and stables. His favorite duty, however, had to be the fact he and his brother were put in charge of the royal nursery, even though it was untraditional to have men involved with the royal nursery. The knight was the many times' great-uncle of the house of York but to most of the court, he was seen as Lancastrian due to the fact he had openly acknowledged Owain Tudor as one of his direct descendants.
The knight felt more than heard Edward’s brother Richard enter the room as he took the few days old Princess Elizabeth from the wet-nurse and truly smiled as he placed a cloth over his shoulder and moved the baby to it as he gently patted her back, “My Lord Richard.” He said as he carefully bowed just enough. “What brings you here?”
