She could feel herself getting just a bit tad more light-headed. “S-Sorry!” Still, she couldn’t believe this. Was that butterflies in her stomach starting to form? Or was that just more anxiety? She couldn’t decide. “… H-Huh? Oh. Um… Actually, I kind of d-do know who you are. I… took the Galar Challenge b-back about… summer of l-last year?” She pauses, shuffling her hands together with her Charizard soon wrapping his tail around her feet, giving a wide berth, but a protective nature being shown, settling himself with a folding of his arms.

“… A-Ashe. My name is Ashe… and this is M-Meteor.” She reached up to pet the side of the Charizard’s neck, a growl of sorts coming from him in acknowledgement to Raihan and his current partner out and about. “U-Um… As for that f-fire landing… It’s actually a t-technique we’ve used before to stop ourselves from f-falling before.” She remembered back in Kanto just trying to ride on Meteor’s back at first. It was… something. “… Andfortherecordi’mabigfansomaybeIcouldsitandtalkwithyou– I-I mean–”

And there goes the Charizard tilting his head back as if he’s done with the world and her frozen to the spot.

“Pleasure to meet you Ashe, and Meteor,” he greets to both of them. “That technique sure is something. Definitely beats falling, I bet. Though not sure how effective it would be when falling into a lake.” Flygon audibly huffs, giving a small side-eyed glare to it’s trainer. Flygon didn’t intend to let Raihan fall that time, and it was lucky that a large body of water was beneath them when the dragon had to pull that somersault to avoid a flock of startled Rookidee coming their way.

“Sorry, sorry, just prodding at ya bud,” Raihan says, giving a rub to it’s neck in apology. “He hasn’t let me have a tumble like that since then.” Flygon forgives it’s trainer and leans into his hand.

Raihan barely manages to catch the last thing Ashe says, but did manage to hear ‘fan’ and ‘talk’, and the gym leader was happy to oblige a fan. “Yeah, I have some time before Sonia arrives. I’m just here to hand over an item to her before I head back. Wanna tell me more about how you two came up with that fire landing?”

      Piers makes a motion towards Raihan, mischievous grin upon his face.

“The Great an’ Mighty Raihan, singin’ to a potion. Ah, yes. I can see it bein’ th’most viral thing since my accidental leak of – You know. Never mind there.”     No need to relive the viral memes of that incident no thank you!

       “Come now Raihan don’t be comparin’ yerself t’me in anyway now.” Sure he’s KNOWN for his singing and other musical talents but does that mean he thinks he’s any good at all? Absolutely not.

       “I take it you didn’t originally come here t’sing t’potions then, yeah? Serenadin’ them b’fore buyin’ them? Does that make their prices go down?”

“Well, no. I mean, I’m sure if the store gave a good discount just for singing each item you buy, then I might just do that,” he laughs. “It’s just... the song is really really catchy. And I didn’t think anyone would hear me or pay much attention.” He rubs the back of his neck as he admits this, for he was lost in his own moment during shopping.

“You doing a bit of shopping too? Or looking for ways of getting my secrets to store discounts?” He chuckles at his own joke.

A little grey blur ran past Raihan, letting out a happy “VOI!” As the pokemon ran up to the Goodra. It was an Eevee, a shiny Eevee, who was looked up at the slimy dragon before wagging his tail and ran around the Goodra in excitement. He was wanting to play, he wanted to be friends! “Castor? Castor! There you are!” A voice spoke up as young women jogged up to the little group looking worried. “I’m sorry sir, I hope Castor isn’t bothering you or your Goodra, he just likes taking off when I am not looking.” The Eevee looked up innocently but with a bit of mischeif in his eyes as he tried to play with the Goodra. “Honestly….” The women sighed, placing a hand over her heart. She was really worried!

“Whoa there!” Raihan exclaims when he feels the rustle of grass rustle beside him, following the creature until it stops right before Goodra. Goodra is surprised for a moment, looking down at the bouncing fluffy Pokémon before giving a happy chirp. It’s head turns and follows the Eevee as it runs around her before she waddles after it.

Raihan was relieved that it was just a playful Pokémon encounter, and didn’t have the chance to wonder who the Pokémon belonged to before a woman approached them, calling the Eevee’s name.

“Oh, your Castor’s fine, no problems here Miss,” he assures her, shifting the bouquet of flowers into the crook of his arm. “Goodra loves playing and making new friends. She’s the biggest sweetheart I know.”

        “Sure was…” he mumbled standing as his gaze settled on Raihan for… well, he wasn’t sure how many times that day. He almost wanted to tell the man that ‘He was incredible’ but he kept his thoughts to himself. Well, almost. He could hear Darko laugh as he approached him.

        ‘I certainly agree, we should congratulate them. C’mon Piers’ With that he floated on by, hovering beside Raihan as Piers groaned before tagging along. As ther made it down the stairs, Piers was consumed by his thoughts again as he watched Raihan taking a few long strides across the field. His eyes fixated on the man’s bare calves as the flexed with ever–

        ‘Earth to Piers,’ sang Darko as Piers blinked, then gave his Pokémon the stink eye while Darko let loose a jolly chortle. He’d gently bonk him on the head with his mic if he could.

        Shaking his head, he passed Darko and walked up to the two girls and congratulated them.

        “Rockin’ fight y’ all had. I could feel the shudder of anticipation in m’ weak lil’ bones…” he trailed off, looking down at Gloria, “An’ you, ya twerp, keep up th’ work on fightin’ without dynamaxin’, fer Marnie, fer Spikemuth!” 

        He reached forth to dip his fingers beneath her cap to roughly ruffle her hair, just to be a turd.

“Och! Yer mussin’ up ma do!” says Gloria as she swats Piers’ hand away, though her grin is still wide from her triumphant win. Leaf giggles from the exchange, for the other young champion was still a kid after all. A very powerful kid.

“That was absolutely thrilling. Galar battles are definitely something else,” says Leaf as she shoulders her bag once her Pokémon were completely healed by the gym aides.

“They sure are, and I’m glad I got to witness two Champions going head-to-head like that. I hope to face you one day Leaf, a friendly match of course,” Raihan replies as he rests a hand on a hip.

“I’m looking forward to it.” Leaf give a brief roll of her shoulders along with a small, tired sigh. “Phew, I haven’t had this much excitement in quite a bit. Time for me to take a rest someplace.”

“Let me know what you prefer and I’ll have my aides set it up for you,” Raihan offers. “PokéHotel, or even one of the rooms here in Hammerlocke Castle, I got some perks that got you covered, and think of it as thanks for such a great match today!”

“Thank you, that’s so generous!” says Leaf, a bit relieved that she wouldn’t have to venture to far for a place to stay. An aide approaches her to set up the accommodations. When they finish, she says her goodbyes before taking her leave and promising to see them all again tomorrow. Gloria makes her way home as well, unable to wait to tell her mother about her battle today and to have a home-cooked meal.

Unfortunately for Raihan, he still had a bit of restlessness within him, making it far too early to turn in. He turns to Piers and his Malamar.

“Would you like to hang around here a bit longer or... Wait, you still have that rehearsal to get back to, yeah?” he asks. “I’d be happy to walk you back, unless you want me out of your hair.”

A low rumbling purr emits from Piers’ chest as he’s pulled into a kiss. He feels a warmth radiate throughout his from the mere action, but he doesn’t allow himself to get to lost. Instead he partly uses this moment as a distraction, and reaches into the other’s pocket to pluck his phone. Piers then pulls away, swiftly turning around with the phone in his hands while snickering as he attempts to see what Raihan was trying to hide from him.

He had fallen that quickly into the critter’s trap, even though Raihan had honestly set it up for himself. There’s no time to pout when their kiss broke, for he realized that his phone was snatched.

“Hey hey! That’s not for you! There’s nothing in there!” He attempts to reach around Piers to grab his phone back. “R-Rotom! Delete history! Delete history!“ he practically yelps at the device.

“Stuff, huh?,” he whispers, nuzzling up to Raihan’s face as he playfully nibbles at his cheek. Meanwhile, he allows his hand to travel down to the other’s pocket, teasingly dipping each digit inside.

“I’ve missed you,” he murmurs hotly against his skin, with fangs barely grazing the surface. It was his way of agreeing to spending time with him in a sense.

“Missed you too,” he utters right back with a smile, before turning his head to meet the other’s lips in a kiss. It’s amazing how quickly Raihan relaxes from the simple gesture of affection, letting an arm slip and wrap around Pier’s waist to hug him closer.

Unfortunately, this drops his guard.

“Mmmmmm… stuff…” he hums, reaching for the strings of his jacket to twirl around his fingers. He noticed the way he had fumbled with his phone earlier, and his peculiar behavior made Piers all the more curious.

“What about you?” he inquired with a faint purr to each word spoken, as he eyes the phone in the other’s hand. A faint smirk spreads across his lips as a curious brow raises.

He tries to be subtle with how he slips his hands (and phone) back into his front pocket, just a normal gesture he always does.

“Me? Probably the same as you... Stuff,” he announces casually, getting a bit more of a handle on himself. “Though, now that you’re here, I wanna spend my time with you.” That was the honest truth.

“Hello love~” he whispers with a wink.

“I-- Er, uhh...” He fumbles with his Rotom phone a moment before closing the search app, even though a questionable images may have been burned into his retinas by now.

“H-Hey there! Whatcha’ been up to?” Nope nope nope, Piers hadn’t seen anything, just play it cool, right?

“What’s this about monsterfu--...?” What better way to answer the question than to look it up himself.

“... Oh.”

A Torracat is perched high, on a shelf, hiding in the darkness as it's yellow eye peer down, gleaming ominously. It snickers, then leaps, landing on top of Raihan's head!

“Ack--!! What the--?” He’s definitely startled by the sudden weight on his head, hands flying up to seize it and remove it from it’s tall perch. He feel fur at first, and when he pries the creature off of him, he recognizes the stripes and orange of--

“A Torracat?” he wonders aloud, shifting it in his hands to have the Pokémon face him.

“Now where did you come from?”

         The two were really skilled. He enjoyed a good old school battle. That was where the fun was for him. The raw emotion and tension between two competitors. Just… being in that moment. It didn’t feel the same once Dynamax overshadowed everything. So, it was nice to see something from his childhood out there on display for the younger audience. However, he struggled keeping focus with Raihan talking beside him. And even more so when the man pulled him so close, their cheeks nearly touched. Piers’ blush deepened and any coherent thought he had fizzled up and died. 

        “U-uhm, yeah! Yeah I did, neat, huh?” he chuckled nervously. The other’s scent was overwhelming, which wasn’t making it easier on his mind. However, he was finally blessed when Raihan let go, and he gave a deep sigh of relief.

        “Yeah, she’s gettin’ quite a wallopin’ o’er there.”

        While a full restore or a paralyze heal would work around that, he didn’t say much on that. Instead his mind was stuck on how close he was to Raihan… and just… a whole lot of Raihan. He began toying with the pendant of his collar, tossing a glance over his shoulder at Darko. The Malamar stared back, his playful chuckling echoing in Piers’ head as he finished the last donut. Piers growled, choosing to watch the fight instead of acknowledging Darko.

The battle raged on, with both trainers and Pokémon putting up the good fight. Raihan’s passion for battle continued to shine through as he watched the exchange of moves and blows. It ended with a full knockout of Leaf’s team, with Gloria’s team taking the close win with Corvidknight’s final blow to the opposing Charizard. The scattered spectators in the stands all cheered for their reigning Champion and for the great battle.

“That was incredible...” says Raihan as he claps steadily for the two trainers. “So many close calls and just... Wow...” He was breathless, the color of his eyes still glowing as if he was the one competing below instead of just cheering from the stands. The gym aides ran out onto the field as both Champions exchanged handshakes from their match, kits full of healing items at the ready for the tired Pokémon.

“Let’s go down and congratulate them,” Raihan says as he turns towards the stairs, giving a nudge from his elbow to Piers’ arm along the way.

          Sheepish grin. He scratches the back of his head, looking away a bit.

    “Aye. It’s a real big hit, innit? Kinda makes me wanna see if I can do my own cover of it.” Now he moves a hand to his shoulder, looking up in thought. “Or even collab with the original artist.”

      A few thoughtful rubs to his shoulder. His attention then turns back to Raihan.

    “Now that I think ‘bout it, I shoulda recorded you. Damn, think’a all th’media responses you’d get. What a lost opprotunity.”

A collab would definitely be something if Piers got the chance to do so. No doubt Raihan would also have that or a cover play on loop if possible. What yanks him out of those thoughts is the suggestion of recording Raihan’s earlier display.

“Oh no no no, no thank you,” he says, both shaking his head and waving his free hand in front of him at the idea. “I mean, more exposure for Doja DelCatty sure, but I’m not here to sing, and I don’t think anyone wants to hear me sing to health potions, nor do I want them to think singing to them makes them more effective or something, aha...”

“Besides, I say a recording of you from earlier would be leagues better than anything I could do.” That and the re-watch value. Hopefully his own brain wasn’t too fried from the surprise performance to replay the moments in his own head.

She’s a right mess being in Raihan’s presence, and it takes a firm paw to her head to even get her to look at her Charizard. [ Focus. ] Smoke rolls from his nostrils with as much patience as he could muster. “R… Right.” Turning to look in Raihan’s direction again, that familiar thrill of excitement in seeing him battle that gets her heart fluttering on television is distinctly there, but she’s trying to focus… and play it lowkey. Low… key. “Y-Yeah! We’re fine!” She notices the Flygon’s protective nature and lets out a nervous hum then. “S-Sorry to startle you! W-We were supposed to land in Wedgehurst for supplies, but…”

Meteor gave a glowering expression. There was no need to explain the entire situation, but with her anxiety amped up, what could one expect from his trainer?

“Uh…–” They had to be on their way, but the chance to talk with the one gym leader she actually followed on social media and match-wise was tempting. Too tempting. “I… I hope we didn’t ruffle up your Flygon?”

The Flygon trills slightly, blinking at the two newcomers. To Raihan though, it was the Pokémon’s way of pouting.

“Not too much, ‘cept for maybe cutting his splash time short,” he replies light-heartedly while giving Flygon a few more assuring pats. The dragon calms a little more, but is still wary of the strangers per it’s timid nature, wings fluttering slightly to try to get the rest of the water from the fine, sturdy membranes.

“You’re a little bit off course, but there’s more room for a flamethrower-landings out here than in town. The residents will appreciate that, I think.” He flashes a smile as he extends a (less damp) hand. “In case you don’t know me already, I’m Raihan, gym leader of Hammerlocke. What’s your names?” he asks of both trainer and Pokémon.

“Sunny Day” - Open Starter

Isn’t this such... a beautiful night, whoa... We’re underneath a thousand shining stars...

Goodra squeals in delight hearing one of her favorite songs come from the Rotom’s speakers. The Pokémon-inhabited device floats around the lavender-colored dragon in time with it’s little head sways with the tune’s ukulele.

Raihan’s Pokémon team all had their quirks; Goodra with her enjoyment of easy-going music, and Flygon with his love of splashing in bodies of water for example. The gym leader makes the time to let his Pokémon enjoy themselves as often as possible between training and battling. Keeps up the morale and strengthens bonds that much more.

Why don't you let yourself just be wherever you are...

Right now it was just Goodra and him in one of the fields off Route 7. Free of distraction and plenty of space to roam around without worry of getting slime in too many places. Well, besides Raihan’s whole front when Goodra held him in a big squishy hug before romping around and smelling the flowers on this sunny afternoon. Nothing a wash cycle couldn’t handle, but not everyone appreciated the unique affections of a Goodra, nor the slimy mess they tended to leave behind.

Raihan follows behind the Pokémon as it wanders around, sniffing the flowers it brings to him and holding them together for it’s bouquet. It’s quite the sight for any passerby, especially how some petals stick to the gym leader’s front and a few on a cheek.
