Sometimes humans have weird delusional of grandeur and they think themselves dragon riders.

Now that can go a number of ways:

1 the human gets thrown out of the lair of whichever wyrm they chose to bother

2 said wyrm grew very annoyed and the human is no mare

3 the human finds a wyvern to show off to people and most of the time they're stupid enough to believe him

But sometimes something else happens. Sometimes the dragon looks at that little human and they can't help but wonder why they'd be so drawn to them. To the sky and to the power and safety that a dragon can bring and a life so removed from other humans. Often the answer is greed and we return to point 1 or 2 but sometimes it's not.

Sometimes there's something in that little humans eyes that screams I don't wanna be human at all. Lots of dragons have a strong brooding instinct so when that kinda of sad little human just wanders into their nest they can't help but keep it there. Where it belongs.

Dragons are magical creatures and their nests have power. And well you are staying in the place occupied by a little hatchling and oh you are behaving like one to so with time it might just happen that you find yourself in a body more and more appropriate for the role as well.

Don't worry little hatchling you will be big and strong one day just like you wanted. But for now you're safe and so far away from humans which we both know was the more important part anyway.

I dont knoww that sounds very much like doesnt every man wish to be a woman... You don't have to deny yourself dragonhood because of some silly thoughts that you're not worthy or some such. That's nonsense. And women aren't inherently no threatening thats just internalised misoginy. A truly free woman is and should be a majestic storm of teeth and claws on mighty wings. Also you don't gotta be a big dragon you know. Look at me I'm just little. It takes time for dragons to grow up. After all we live a lot longer than mortals so it only makes sense. Really at 25 mama is gonna be very upset with you if she sees you walking outside the nest again. Anyway you are my clutchmate now no takesie backsies. Get in the nest or mama is gonna be angry with you.

fortunately, dragons aren’t very dense, so the serpent on top of her is uncomfortably heavy but not actively crushing her to death. unfortunately, she’s sitting backwards on her and her cloaca and scent glands are right over the girl’s face, and the smell and damp wetness are intense

In addition to princesses who are dragons, one of the things I’m often thinking about is being a very powerful, size-shapeshifting dragon who is the willing ‘pet’ of a princess. Able to go anywhere from a little inch-long lizard who loves to curl up in her hair and dangle from her ear to a gigantic fuckoff four-story-tall monster ready to defend my favorite human at a moment’s notice, and anywhere in between. Horse-sized to pin any would-be suitors beneath a claw and snap at them to scare them off, lapdog-sized for receiving wonderful scritches afterwards in her chambers, and so many other fun things.

Of course, I’m just hanging out until her parents get tired of waiting for their daughter to pick a suitable prince to marry and arrange a marriage for her, whereupon I ‘kidnap’ her and carry her off the night before she is to be wed, as is customary. Some traditions are simply unavoidable.
