“Hey all ya crazy people, I’m Lt. Surge, the Lightning American!”
"Surge. Lieutenant Surge. I've heard of you," Clair said, crossing her arms as she sized up the giant-like man. "I'm Clair."

[Concordia’s face started to flush as Clair came closer. As if on instinct, she took a few steps back, swallowing all the saliva in her mouth. Picking a fight with the Plasma Peace Goddess was like picking a fight with a marshmallow. She, for the most part, was little more than squishy fluffy sweetness who couldn’t handle a little heat.]
Y-you lost somebody…? It isn’t my place to pry or anything, but…but, um…um…
I said I'd almost lost somebody. [She snapped at Concordia, a scowl forming on her lips.] My Dratini, a Dragonair now. I jumped and took the attack that would have otherwise paralyzed or even made him faint, subjecting him to capture. He, in turn, evolved and kicked their ass. Not that it's any of your business.

[How on earth could she respond to that? Just…how? Some of the more eloquent Grunts probably could have argued a fine case here, saying something awe-inspiring or at least respectable, but Concordia was no silver-tongued savior. All she could do was be a friend to her Audino and a source of comfort for N. Honestly, Clair had left her speechless, let along tongue-tied.
All she could find in herself to do was wrap her arms around herself and hope that Audino hadn’t hear those words. And then, as if by some miracle, a few words slipped through her lips.]
That’s so…harsh…
[Harsh. Was that all she was going to say? Well, Clair supposed she could chalk this up as a win, another point for the blessed user of dragon pokémon. Shame, she hoped the girl would surprise her and have some fight, but--as she'd been doing all day--she expected too much.
Harsh. The word sat in her mind, and she had to fight her sneer from growing. What a disgusting rebuttal, especially to someone--to trainers like her. She wasn't being harsh, she was merely telling the truth. If Concordia couldn't handle it, then she had no business being in Clair's line of sight. She sauntered up to her and stood over the woman, her heeled boots adding to her already tall and imposing figure. She spoke, her voice low and cold.]
It's not harsh if you'd almost lost a lifelong friend to one of you disgusting teams.

[She frowns at that, trying her best not to make her lip quiver. He really did love that Hydreigon, from what she could tell. It always stayed near him, sometimes it slept in the bed with him, and he’d feed it from his own plate. Clearly she didn’t know Lord Ghetsis.]
Ruse? Me? Oh, no. Really, I’m not playing anything. We’re trying to make a kinder world for Pokemon everywhere. That’s why Lord Ghetsis raised Lord N as he did, so he’d be sensitive to the needs of any Pokemon, from the largest Wailord to the smallest Joltik.
[Her face goes down toward her feet now and she tries her best not to fidget.]
I wasn’t aware the Johto Region had a faction of Team Plasma. You honestly make it sound like you know us, but I doubt you do.
A kinder world, ha! [She throws her head back in a laugh before facing Concordia again.] That's always the reason with you Teams, sans Team Rocket. At least their intentions were clear. Listen--Concordia, was it? You may think I don't know you, but I'm pretty sure I do.
You have Grunts running amuk willy-nilly throughout Unova, don't you? Each one of them perform missions of sorts for the Boss, or in your case, Lord. They probably steal Pokemon, don't they? They steal them, but they think they're doing something right by doing so, and it's all in the hopes of getting in good graces with the Lord. You all probably think you're doing something good, something to help a world that didn't ask for it. That doesn't need nor want it.
You attack innocents and deprive them of their companions. You ransack stores, centers, and entire towns, all for the "greater good". Tch. And believe me, dear, just because your Team is set in Medieval times, just because you have different divisions, or a different cause--it doesn't mean your crimes any different.
Then, when approached with the severity of their crimes, they have to nerve to act surprised. They claim not to know any better, because they were so invested in their cause. [She sneers] It's you people that disgust me.

That’s rather nice of you, actually. Does the same hold true for other talented Dragon-tamers, or did you make an exception for Mr. Drayden? Dragons are difficult to work with for most people, but our lord and great orator has one and loves him dearly.
Yes. I said I’m with Team Plasma. Please don’t take that to mean I’m a battler or a trainer, because I’m not. Audino and I serve another purpose entirely, and we’re happy with it…for the most part.
Team members are supposed to be evil? That’s the first I’ve heard of such things…
Hm, of course it is. Your "lord" owns a dragon? Should I be impressed? He will more than likely not be considered a part of the Association, much less the Clan. Our...love for one another only extends so far as to Dragon masters, not to not-so-common tamers.
But he's doing well loving and caring for him, for a Dragon can kill just as easily as it can breathe.
...For the most part? Oh, do tell. [She rolls her eyes a bit, not really caring about the sob-story that may follow, until she heard her last statement. She narrows her eyes at the woman.]
What do you mean this is the first you've heard of such things? Just what kind of ruse are you trying to play?

I wasn’t aware that Drayden was part of the clan until you said something. That’s quite interesting…
They do? Um…I wasn’t aware…
[She sheepishly places a hand to her mouth, as if to cover it, and lets her eyes wander to the nearby floor. One of her feet is wiggling back and forth to show her shyness.]
I am Concordia, of Team Plasma. I am the keeper of the peace and one of the two guardian caretakers for our king.
He isn't, technically. He's more so part of the Association than the Clan. The Clan deals with descendents, but the old guy is like family, so we consider him a part of it.
[She crosses her arms and coolly raises a brow at the woman's display of shyness. It was weak, and she was going to exploit it.]
Concordia, of Team Plasma, you say? Hm. Aren't Team members supposed to be a bit evil? Strong, if anything? Least of all, shy little schoolgirls who advocate for peace. I don't know what I expected, but you don't meet it.

Greetings! You hail from the dragon clan of Blackthorn City, don’t you?
...Greetings. Yes; I am Clair, of Blackthorn City. I am the Dragon-Type Gym-Leader, and...cousin to that imp.
Oh, so you've heard of the clan, consisting of myself, grandfather, the imp, and Drayden? Impressive, I suppose, though that really isn't much to be proud of. Most know about us.
And you are...?
Have you forgotten who Will is, Clair? Perhaps you need a refresher on who makes up the League. Will is a Psychic. He can see into the future. On top of that, he’s a good friend, so I trust he gives me reliable information. And what he told me was indeed true, there was a problem in Unova.
Have you forgotten who you are? Your duties lay here, in Johto, your own region. The events in Unova are none of your business. Unova is an isolationist region for a reason, Lance. They don't need nor want your help. They have their own League and Champion for that. Maybe you should focus on the rising crime rates here instead of a problem in a region you've no business with.
Oh, Easter.
It's time I prepare the Gym for the Easter Egg Hunt.
Yes, it should be quite entertaining watching the plummet of many into my lava pit after an egg or two.
Entertaining indeed.
Will informed me that there could be something happening with the dragons of this region, which I think it a very important issue. Don’t you?
Perhaps, if only because of the mention of Dragons. And yet, I can't help but wonder, how would Will--who's a Johto Elite, mind you--know about that, hmm? I suppose the whole League is full of slackers now, isn't it?
champion-lance replied to your post: My cousin has appeared.
I wouldn’t be leaving unless it was important. This is important.
Of course. What tomfoolery is it this time around?
My cousin has appeared.
Disappeared.
Re-appeared.
Disappeared again.
And re-appeared once more.
And now I hear talk of him planning to go to Unova.
Yes, because that's the best thing to do.
Gasp! A fellow dragon-lover? Where are you from?
Blackthorn City, Johto. You say you're a Dragon-Type lover, hmm? As a matter of fact, you do look a bit familiar. Your name escapes me at the moment.
I'm Clair.
Today, I took a trip to Olivine.
It wasn't to visit anyone, more so to check on the city.
Also, it's been a while since Charizard has stretched his wings. I felt bad for depriving him.
The melody of the sea sang beautifully today. Especially coupled with the screams of one rogue Gym Trainer as I tossed him into the water below.
Oh, how I do love these trips.

gottalovebikeshorts replied to your post: That’s so cute. Gettin’ all worked up over an “e”. People mess my name up all the time, but I don’t lose my shits over it.
Gonna have to agree with Clair on this one—the spelling of one’s name is totally important!
Thank you, Kris. It's nice to know some people have sense.
