Thank you to everyone who voted! The admin team are super excited to ramp up the preparation to open the roleplay. Woohoo!
We have one last poll for you all and that is to decide if it should be a tumblr roleplay, a hybrid (tumblr/discord) roleplay, or a discord roleplay.
The reason we are asking is because we have received several anonymous questions about this, and the pro's/con's of every choice, but the admin team would rather give the writers a chance to vote because as we are comfortable with whatever you want. As an admin team, we have experience on both platforms.
What's your opinion? Vote now: Tumblr, Hybrid (Tumblr/Discord), Discord, Do not mind...
omg this looks so detailed with lore and its a blend of so many fantasy tropes!! can you give me some examples of what characters you would like to see? is it skeleton or appless?
Thank you so much, lovely!
The format will be semi-appless because we have had some feedback that a full, lengthy application process can cause a lot of anxiety and stress. We want to trust in our writers and allow them the freedom to explore a character that they're really passionate about.
We will have a page which outlines the key roles within the Dragon Riders and we will invite people to apply for them - such as the Dragonflight Generals, Lieutenants, Wing Leaders, Squad Members, and so on.
However, we will post character suggestions because the world is big and we understand that it may be intimidating to know where to start a character! Although our plot is focused on the dragon riders and their quests across Eldaria; there are many more kingdoms and regions out there to take inspiration from for a character's background. So we might create some 'lowkey' skeletons/vague character suggestions. How about a princess from a conquered kingdom, that was lost to the Verge's corruption, who is hellbent on revenge against the Darksworn? And so on!
I hope that gives you an idea of the freedom and creativity we really want to nurture here!
LORE PREVIEW: REN SÁRON
City in the clouds; the last dragon city to survive the Cataclysm; a reminder of the grandeur of the Second Age; a relic of the past; bastion of magic and knowledge; domed rooves and elegant buildings; waterfalls cascading off the edges into the clouds below; lush greenery; a dragon rider's home amongst the mountains and clouds.
The Inquisitors earned their name because they are dedicated to uprooting and destroying evil. They value loyalty, strength, and tenacity above all other traits. When an Inquisitor walks forth, it is met with either relief or fear. Relief to those who have nothing to hide; and fear to those who may have strayed from the light. They are imperative to protecting the world from threats from within; yet they usually leave only impersonal destruction and cleansing in their wake, making their presence a feared yet respected necessity.
Inquisitors usually attract riders with offensive or defensive signets because their duties are highly combat focused. Their dragons are typically just as zealous and committed to uprooting evil as their Inquisitor riders. Their armband and cloak colours are crimson red.
Their main duties are:
HUNTING DARKSWORN: recognising the signs of a Darksworn (a Corrupted human); hunting them down; executing them before they can cause harm
FIEND EXPERTISE: dedicated to understanding Fiend physiology - how to destroy them the quickest; providing information of any new Fiends to other Dragonflights
BLIGHT EXPERTISE: maintaining up-to-date knowledge on the different Blight areas such as: how large they are, how many Fiends are estimated to be within the borders, and how fast they are expanding
Hello, hello! Thank you very much to our followers and to the kind messages we have received over the last couple of months. We are very sorry that we disappeared for a while as all three admins had sudden life priorities (aaah internet woes) but we are very much stable now and would like to create a fantasy roleplay.
Firstly, we want to ask the community which three ideas are most intriguing or please let us know if you have any yourself!
We are experiecned in creating high fantasy roleplays (maps, lore, and all) with lots of magic, action, and adventure as core themes, with grimdark/serious themes too. We really want every character to have a special plot role. Everyone should feel involved and treasured. We also do not like application forms. It can cause a lot of anxiety and work to some writers, and we really want to trust every writer, and make it as stress free as possible.
StrawPoll below!

will this rp have a central city/country all our characters can be in? like basgiath college! wide spanning roleplays can be difficult for people to connect on but this looks really fun!!
<3 Thank you anon (and apologies for the slow reply over the festive period)!
I can confirm that there will be a central base/headquarters for all of the characters to have more casual threads in - as well as training, living quarters, all of that fun! It will also be where our first plot drop will be focused on. The extended world is more for missions and really... it's up to our players! We want to provide full flexibility as well as a world that is rich in diversity.
Ren Sáron is very much influenced by Tar Valon (Wheel of Time) and Basgiath College (Fourth Wing), and will act as that central city. <3
We just posted a lore review of the Aetherwalk and we'll upload a map of Ren Sáron so that it's all clear.
LORE PREVIEW: THE AETHERWALK (Inspired by Fourth Wing's parapet/gauntlet and the Wheel of Time's Aes Sedai Trials.)
Spanning the vertical expanse between the Ground City and the Middle Islands of the dragon rider's city of Ren Sáron is the majestic Aetherwalk, a challenging pathway that serves as both a bridge and a crucible for aspiring dragon riders. This remarkable structure tests the fortitude, balance, and grounding skills of initiates, determining their readiness for the profound responsibilities of dragon riding and if they are worthy to become a first year cadet.
The path to the Middle Islands is perilous, claiming the lives of many initiates. Some meet their end by plummeting from dizzying heights, while others succumb to the magical traps that line the route. Additionally, the journey is not without the danger of initiates turning on one another. The reasoning is perhaps cruel—fewer cadets increase the chances of successfully bonding with a dragon, rooted in the belief that only the strongest are worthy.
Any initiate who successfully navigates the Aetherwalk will earn the privilege to step onto the Middle Islands and become a first year cadet. This challenging gauntlet becomes a symbolic obstacle, ensuring that only the most deserving cadets progress to the specialized dragon rider training that awaits them in the celestial realm above.
Is this roleplay going to be set in a college/training period (like fourth wing) or after graduation?
A fantastic question, dearest anon!
This roleplay will be designed for fully trained/graduated Dragon Riders (or their Mage and Knight companions) because of the dark themes involved.
Also, the plot focuses on doing missions which a cadet would realistically struggle in.
Hope that helps!
what powers/magic is there?
There's so much magic... where to begin!?
Dragons are divine by nature and their fiery breath can cleanse demonkind. When bonded with a rider, the rider is able to wield a powerful divine signet ability which is usually linked to a dragon's colour but isn't always! (We wanted to give roleplayers flexibility here but it will be rare if a rider awakens a power that is 'unusual' for that dragon's colour... like a shadow magic signet under a gold dragon? Woaaaah! It'd be seen as something... unseemly or corrupted but not impossible). Go wild with your ideas!
And beyond that, Mages exist - these are humans who have the same potential to use some magic like riders but have not bonded to a dragon (or failed to). They can use lesser magic (potion making, enchanting armour and weaponry, basically imbuing objects with magic) and greater magic (spellcraft, chanting, longer and more complex magic that takes time compared to a riders' innate ability).
I've broken down the 'common powers' under each dragon type below!

FANTASY ROLEPLAY WITH DRAGONS! im in. are there fae? or other species?
Thank you so much, sweet anon! To answer birefly - sort of, yes (fae inspired dragon riders anyone?)!
In detail: in terms of our playable 'humanoid' species, it's currently only humans (including the darksworn/corrupted kind), but that doesn't mean there may not be more in the future. Also, we just recently set up a queue for our lore previews and the Seldorai (our Dragon Riders) have pointed ears, increased strength, speed and extended lifespans. Very similar to fae/elves!
The roleplay is going to have a diverse bestiary, including gryphons, elementals, giants, goblins and so on... but we also have demonkind here too!
Any suggestions are more than welcome.
LORE PREVIEW: THE DRAGON RIDERS
The Seldorai, bonded with dragons, possess the unique ability to wield divine magic through their bond, which is awakened as a special signet ability. They are revered as the protectors of humanity worldwide. Demons from the Forsaken lands are vulnerable to both the divine flames of dragons and the special magic of riders.
To become a Rider, one must possess the innate spark for magic, granting them the ability to use both lesser and greater magical talents. This is a prerequisite for forming a bond with a dragon and manifesting a divine signet ability.
The Seldorai are organized into five Dragonflights, each specializing in distinct military disciplines. They are trained in the floating city of Ren Sáron - the only surviving city from the Second Age - which guards the dragonlands at the heart of the Core. After graduation, riders will choose a Dragonflight as their lifelong career and will be stationed at various bastions along the Verge or Blights to be ready against the constant demon invasions.
Through their connection, riders gain enhanced attributes, including speed, strength, endurance, and extended lifespans. Over time, they undergo physical transformations which are thought to resemble the Gods' own appearances; marked by pointed ears, luminescent veins, and radiant eyes that are tied to their dragon's colour. (It differs betwen riders but it is usually 5-10+ years before these changes appear.)
The training of a rider is intentionally grueling and perilous. Most cadets struggle to survive the initial week, let alone complete the first year. They must be ready to confront the darkest and most treacherous of threats, and there is little room for weakness.
Cadets who fail to establish a bond with a dragon upon graduation have the option to repeat another year of training or choose an alternate path as a Mage or Knight.
LORE PREVIEW: GOLD DRAGONS
Gold dragons once served as the divine guardians of the Goddess Kelraėlmír (lit translation: The High Sun Mother in the divine language of Renorn), the Goddess of the Righteous Sun. When they arrived on the world of Eldaria, they were the first of dragonkind to pledge a bond with humans to combat against the evil Nevenii. These bold and fearless actions prompted other dragons to forge bonds. When the connection to the divine weakened and dragonkind became trapped on Eldaria, it was felt more profoundly by the Astral Dragons - Gold, Black, Silver, and Purple Dragons - who were more tied to their divine ancestry. It weakened their morale compared to their Primal counterparts—Red, Blue, Green, and Brown Dragons - and this growing dissociation has led to a notable decline in the ability of Gold dragons to form bonds. But when a bond is forged between a Gold Dragon and their Seldorai (Dragon Rider), the human is more likely to awaken a divine signet closely related to the Gold Dragon's roots which are the magical elements of solar, light, and energy. Gold dragons choose their riders carefully, often selecting individuals who exhibit qualities of courage, justice, and a commitment to protecting others - no matter the cost.
DRAGONWARS.
Coming soon.
A new high fantasy rp that is heavily inspired by THE FOURTH WING; THE WHEEL OF TIME; THRONE OF GLASS; AND DRAGONRIDERS OF PERN. Adventure, questing and action will be the core themes of this roleplay.
