Me and my friend were just talking about our favorite fanfics and I mentioned The Rose Thief and I was a bit upset bc it contained RH. Then I looked it up and saw your note on it and just so you know - thank you! Thank you for putting so much work into such a long story so that people like me, who love it so much, can enjoy it again. You are amazing!

Ah!... why thank you. The pandemic has definitely been kicking my ass mentally so I havent completed the work yet. Barely done any writing at all for a year... But thank you for the kind words :) it means a lot to me.

Apologies for how long this took, but the Rose Thief has been fully edited. Hopefully I did not miss anything, as I am just one person, but at the very least his name should not appear anywhere. I used the Find tool to grab his name...

Unfortunately I do not have the motivation to do the more extensive edits my other fics would need, and I have orphaned a couple Oneshots I had done with JRH in them. One day i hope to revisit the world i created for the Rose Thief, but it will maybe be a different story. Not sure. I dont like to delete things, so the sequel will remain until I figure out what I'm doing.

this turned into a rant

Sorry I haven’t been updating as much recently.

I really wanted to focus on my ongoing gen fic before posting any new stories, but no one is reading it or commenting on it. It’s really killing my motivation.

I’ll probably end up posting a new story in the next couple weeks that should probably be a bit more popular. No, I’m not writing it because it’ll popular, I’m writing it because I want to, but it still should be more popular, so I’m moving up my time frame.

Look. I’m not going to beg you to read my stories. That’s fine. Not everything I write will be a winner, or popular, or in your interests. 

But if you want your writers to keep writing, you HAVE to leave comments!!! A single kudos isn’t enough. You HAVE to let authors know that you are enjoying their work. Most authors leave anonymous comments on, so you don’t even need an AO3 account!!! 

No Author in the entire world will find it creepy or rude or weird if you leave several comments on one fic. No author in the entire world will think it weird or creepy or rude if you leave comments on an old fic that hasn’t updated in a while, or an old fic that was completed three years ago. THEY WILL LOVE IT AND LOVE YOU. 

There is something extremely something about getting an email, and someone (one person) has left a kudos on your 80k word fic that was a sequel to a 30k word fic that you completed a few years ago. Or a single kudos on a 150k word magnum opus. What did you think of it? Did you like it? WHY DID YOU LEAVE A KUDOS? was it exciting? Did it hold your attention? WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT IT????????

There is literally no reason to not comment on a story if you liked it and want the author to write more. No reason. Writers THRIVE on comments. This is the only fucking thing they’re getting out of posting our fics online. It’s really fucking disheartening to tell stories to blank faces and brick walls. Try as you might to focus on the intrinsic value of writing stories.

(but also, whatever you do, don’t comment “when will you update next” or any rude requests like that. JUST TELL THEM YOU LIKED IT AT LEAST.)

Gonna update Zugzwang in the next couple days! It maybe doesn't get the attention I want it to, but I made a private pledge to not let a fanfic go unfinished again. I'll try to make some headway before having three in-progress stories again XD

That being said, the Christpunchers fic I've been working on with a friend will be starting soon 👀 just gotta prepare a few more things..

This story doesn't get as much attention but I honestly don't really care, haha. I love writing supernatural shit. Plus I like having gen options for my readers~
