inktober day 4: spell

I broke the inktober rules today to introduce one of my charcters a little more thoroughly. Sam (aka Samantha) is a trans female based on my real life partner. I picked Jack for her costume because Jack is a leader character with an undying loyalty to his friends and an unending passion to try the unknown and make other’s lives better. My spouse has always taken on cool and surprising projects and their most recent one will hopefully help other LGTBQIA+ in the future. I am in awe everyday of the love and caring they show not only to me but to everyone they meet and I couldn’t be prouder of them taking steps to find their true self and discover happiness for themselves. I’m honored to be their wife and do sometimes feel like Sally falling more in love with my dramatic and charming  Jack. So to top it off with a bow, the theme for today was spell. I love you Sam; I’m spellbound by you everyday :)

I’m going to write down a theory that has been nagging at my mind since Danny Don’t You Know first came out. Has anyone thought that ninja Brian could be a Pooka? Pookas are said to be adept shape shifters which can take human form and are usually described with dark fur (or clothes if they’re a person?) they can be invisible at will and tend to gravitate towards an individual they find interesting sewing mischief and guidance wherever they see fit. They have vicious senses of humor and while most are described as benevolent, some have been said to both kill and eat people (ever wonder what happens to bodies from ninja Brian’s killings?) Brian is also portrayed as a unicorn in the latest NSP song and Pooka’s common forms in lore were horses. Another cool fact from the Pooka wiki page I that peter S. Beagle (author of the last unicorn) also has a story with a Pooka as a main character.

I began thinking this because in DDYK when little Danny is in class, we see ninja Brian sitting a few seats behind him with no one giving any indication that they see him. What if this is because he’s invisible at the time?

So my theory is this. Ninja Brian is an ancient creature called a Pooka who roams the earth making his own fun for himself. One day he stumbles upon a young Danny walking to school and decides to follow him; partly out of boredom and partly because he is drawn to some chaotic potential that Danny’s soul possesses. He watches Danny be picked on and feels a touch of sympathy. He decides to morph into a deadly ninja which would appeal to Danny’s nerdiness and allow him to protect this strange boy if he wanted to. It’s this day that older Danny appears and triggers Brian to reveal himself to little Danny as seen in the song. Once little Danny has returned to his time and leaves school, ninja brain stays with him as his friend and protector but remains invisible to the rest of the world. As days pass Danny learns Brian kills and eats humans; this is terrifying at first but soon the two begin to bond and Danny starts to overlook that trait which is. Brain begins to teach Danny ninja secrets as he grows up which puts at the time of “I Just Wanna Dance “where after years of being taught by Brian, Danny decides to put away his ninja skills and instead pursue music and dancing and hitting on girls.

While killing is more fun for Brian, he agrees to help Danny and together they begin their unsuccessful and goofy antics of the early ninja sex party songs. However, Danny still remembers the meeting of his future self all those years ago and builds the time machine space ship in order to see the sexy rocking world that Danny came from. During the song we see the ship enter a worm hole to reach the year 6969. What we don’t see is that when passing through the worm hole, Danny and Brian’s genetic makeup is twisted together from the force of ninja Brian speed. They soon discover on the other side that Danny has now become a Pooka hybrid with special powers such as shape shifting, bending reality, and immortality. Brian as well has been altered with human emotion and mind powers such as eye lasers.

They go on to save the future with their new-found abilities and along the way meet a futuristic band who also have a Pooka member (Commander Meouch) who appears as a bi pedal lion. The whole group returns to the past and begin their rise to fame. Danny’s ship allows the band to travel to different times (Peppermint Creams) and his reality bending powers allow for a lot of fun for him and ninja Brian (Samurai Abstinence Patrol).   Time passes and the band gains steam. Danny’s immortality makes him become almost a peter pan persona with the desire to have fun all the time. This suits Brian just fine as he’s very protective of his friendship with Danny and doesn’t want things like love or conflict to ruin what they have. Finally, after years the band has become famous throughout time and space. Danny seems to be loving his life in “Orgy for One” and decides that now is the right tie for he and Brian to visit little Danny in the past to keep the current timeline constant. But when Danny returns to the past he sees a girl he was desperately in love with in school and feels longing for the first time in a long while. He decides to find her in his own time and happens spot her in the crowd of one of their concerts. They reconnect, and Danny falls for her again. He begins to woo her in the only way he knows how. His touch with reality is somewhat gone with him playing in fantasy for so long. But his overwhelming wonder of life and genuine sincerity win her heart and we see them kiss at the end of “Heart Boner.” Brian looks horrified in the background. Brian never thought Danny would find a girl ok enough with his nature to ever worry about him falling in love. But now the time has come, and we see Brian become clingy and wanting of Danny’s affection. Only time will tell how this goes but I personally hope Brian can accept this new girl and maybe find a love of his own.
