User H on forums is genuinely so obnoxious.

I need to just block them already. Any thread about people wanting effects for fests or similar stuff and they're all over it like 'oh some people can't use this because of disabilities so staff shouldn't waste their time implementing it'. It's not just effects but recently it's been mostly that.

Like, I'm in favor of toggles when appropriate. I think we should have darkmode and the Coli CAPTCHAs need fixing. But arguing that staff should never implement features that a subset of users won't/can't use it is so incredibly self centered.

I feel like this person doesn't go outside, but if they did would they also think that gyms having weights above what they lift is discriminatory? Should we not have stairs or ladders because some people use wheelchairs? Should we eradicate all flashing lights in movies or at parties because some people have epilepsy?

Is it a waste of time to make anything that can't be used or enjoyed by everyone?

This is a browser game with a toggleable feature that has zero real impact on gameplay. This isn't an accessibility issue, it's an issue of FOMO and being unable to accept that not everything in existence has to be catered to you.

Not every feature has to be universally liked, and some people will complain every time there's a new breed release. Fest effects would be really popular, except with H's crowd who have decided that they need to scream to everyone on the forums about how the new feature is evil. I have never posted anything in response onsite because I know that's a fast track to getting threads locked. But also, it feels like FR staff listens to the loud minority over the quiet majority.

It just pisses me off that on FR specifically, having a disability makes it okay to say 'if I can't enjoy something no one else can either'.

I just celebrated my first anniversary in this game and I adore it to bits but MAN I hate the price of everything SO much. Every time I make a suggestion on the forums to make obtaining the cosmetics you want just the teensiest bit easier (like a single-color scatterscroll, dragon flight change/colored contacts eye apparel, or gods forbid decreasing the value of anything or increasing the fairgrounds treasure cap) it always gets shot down by others because "muhhh that's too easy it'll ruin the economyyy".

(Dis)respectfully, I came here to breed/dress up pretty dragons and play fun minigames, not engage in PNG Wall Street Simulator right down to being a fairgrounds wage slave who rarely ever has enough currency to do what I want. Different strokes for different folks I guess, I just don't see the appeal in spending days grinding for enough money for a gene or two.

So tired

I'm so tired of all the extreme negativity surrounding EVERY. SINGLE. UPDATE. You don't like it? Fair. You don't have to like everything. But I swear people can't just think "hey I don't like this" and then not interact with an *optional* feature. They have to go "staff SUCKS who EVEN asked for THIS what a waste of time" because the update isn't 100% catered to their specific desires or what they think the staff should be spending time on. Then when other people say "hey I enjoyed this, this update is for me, you can just ignore the thing if you don't like it", they cry and cry about how their voices are being oppressed.

Don't get me started on the conspiracy theories about how the site is going under because *gasp* stuff is being released for gems! Never mind that this is probably one of the easiest sites to get premium currency on, they don't shove obnoxious premium FOMO items in your face every month, no gacha boxes or things like that. But no, any gem MP item is a sign that the staff are money-grubbing villains making a desperate cash grab.

tl;dr: You can dislike something, but please stop throwing tantrums every time.

Earth flight PLEASE stop fucking pushing. I know its probably meme worthy at this point but the last few times arcane has tried pushing fucking earth beats us without pushing at all. It's frustrating af. I know it has everything to do with the fact that arcane is massive but our dom push team is like. Why do some of the new effects look really really crunchy???? Like, specifically the Posessed Posessions and The Void Stares Back. The latter one especially looks super lazy, with a name like that I thought it would look cool but it looks really cheap.

To clarify, I don't think they all look bad, just a few of 'em.

It was originally two of us that started this as a replacement for the originally that shut down. Over the years, we tried getting other admins, but they never lasted more than a month or two. Now, the other admin and I take turns running it. We definitely like staying anonymous with how messy the drama on here can be. This isn't really an issue anymore since neither of us have played in years.

Guess anon submissions aren't a thing any more, RIP, but this isn't really too bad so I don't care.

I am admittedly sick to death of people whining about ancients. "AAA THEY CAN'T WEAR CLOTHES."

I don't WANT to have to decide how to dress these beasts! I don't want to have to spend money on genes and then be compelled to cover them up! I want to use my treasure on more genes. Furthermore there's SO much apparel that you have to hunt down in a billion ways and it's lowkey maddening to try to get a dragon to look nice.

No apparel slots? NO PROBLEM.

But yeah silliness aside I do find it annoying when people rant about how ancients shouldn't exist or they're useless or they should be able to wear clothes. THE POINT is that they DON'T. Not everything on the site has to cater to everyone, and I for one am so so happy that there's breeds I can just play around with instead of trying to dress them too.

"Who are these for," people ask. Me. And a lot of other folks who also love them.

I like the ancient/modern divide and maybe it's petty but seeing people whine so much about them is kinda shit. I will contain my salty reaction to this blog, though.

I know, I am an old man yelling at clouds after an update, but is DramaRising not a podium upon which old men might yell at clouds??

I'm just gonna be honest, my immediate knee jerk reaction is that I do not like the effects. I hate that you cant preview them on dragons like you would skins or apparel, thats insane to me that you have to navigate to a whole separate page to access the preview feature.

And I think all but one or maybe two look like cheap discord profile effects. I think adding animation never looks as cool as people think it does, I dislike animated familiars, and I deeply dislike the new effects and that dragons wearing them now have a 'press play' button when you hover over them.

It looks like the site has been taken over by blingees.

I could probably quietly deal with the effects if they got rid of the ridiculous play button. Just have it be an option you select in your account, they either play by default no play button, or they don't play at all, simple!

I swear to god at least half of the people who complain about "banxiety" are just humble-bragging about how generous they are.

You're not going to get into trouble for using basic site-features in a fair manner. They even have an entire section outlining what is and isn't multi-accounting. Funneling is a definable behaviour of 1 account existing for the sole benefit of another. Regular-ass gift-giving and trading between active users is a non-issue, and I come from a *very* gift-give-y group, including 3 users who share an IP (This issue has been brought up so many times since the very beginning of Flight Rising. They are aware that libraries, schools, and apartments ect. exist, and that if anything, people who share an IP will likely know each other IRL, so it makes sense that they're more willing to pass valuable things to one-another. It's not a crime to have real-life friends and family who have the same hobby as you).

Keep in mind that a lot of banned people who claim to be "innocent" often times, aren't. Liars and cheaters are gonna lie and cheat, who'da thunk.

I got my match, trained and exalted over 90 dergs just to get the funds to buy them the stuff they want, was pretty proud of the first batch of items I got them, send them to my elf, and then I get a message that my match dropped out and that I could get matched with someone new if I wanted to.

I hope my match is all right, and I understand real life comes first, but I'm a LITTLE salty that I spend an entire day grinding just for my gift to potentially not even be what my new match wants.
