Introduction

Personal Background

I am Casi and have been married for seven years.  I grew up 5 minutes from where I currently live.  I like my home and that I am able to live so closely to my parents.  I like to play in my flower beds and working on my home.  We have a German Short Hair that just turned 1 year old in December.  We are hoping to breed him soon with another German Short Hair.  He is my baby and enjoy my time with him.  I like to hangout with my friends and family in my free time.  We like to go riding in the summer in our Razor.  It is always a good time to go on trails in the woods and have challenges with obstacle courses.

Educational Background

I have a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education.  I am working on my Master’s in Early Childhood.  I should graduate in May!!  I will have gotten both degrees at Clarion University.  I work as a Preschool Teacher in Franklin, PA and have worked for the Child Development Center for seven years.  I enjoy teaching and love listening and educating young children.

Mobile Devices

I have a little background in mobile apps, meaning I download them then use them.  I don’t worry too much about other apps I’m not familiar with.  I like to explore apps that I have, and it is easy to explore apps on your mobile device.

Choosing this class and what I hope to get…

I chose this class to fulfill my certification for online teaching and I hope to learn more about apps and educating others online.

I had a German short hair growing up. He was the best dog. My dad was an avid waterfowl hunter. He and the dog would go together. He was a great retriever, too.

Who am I?

Glad you asked… My name is Garret and I am a High School/Middle School Art Educator for the Lakeview School District. I am currently living in Grove City, but spent most of my life living in Clarion, PA. After graduating from Clarion High School, I went on to earn my Bachelors Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Art Education with minors in Art History and Studio Art. I have always had a passion for art and sharing what I know with anyone who will listen, therefor, becoming an art educator always seemed the best course.

In the three years I have been teaching at the Lakeview School District, I have witnessed a strong push for using technology in the classroom. I will admit, as someone who teaches mostly through demonstration and one-on-one instruction, I have had some difficulty adjusting. I recognize the benefits technology can provide in education, but I have struggled to find effective ways to incorporate technology into my daily lessons.

Recognizing my deficient knowledge of technology, I decided to begin working toward a Masters of Education Degree in Technology. My hope is that by taking classes in a field I am weakest, I will discover new tools and methods that will help me to be a more effective educator.

Nice thoughts here on technology and education. I think there needs to be a happy medium between the use of technology and the tradition of learning and creating without digital devices.
