I think I might like Billiam Deadlock

Something about Billy strangely attracts me. By all means, he should be a character I greatly dislike. From being a monumental asshole, a lousy punk that never puts his money where his mouth is, and just over all a downright unpleasant fellow.

And its not just the Jacob Lash type of asshole where he might be playing it up for the ring, to be the bad guy the good guy pummels. Nah, Billy is just a rotten fucken kid, smashing stuff for no reason than to break it. And other characters know this too. Like from the cream of the crop Lady Geist that basically tells it to his face that yeah, you can scream as much as you want, I won't hear it from my penthouse. Or those who would even sympathise with him, like Paige who tells him that maybe he just has hate in his heart because the world is too cruel for now. Or Ivy telling him that the goat head is the least of his worries. And then there is Wesley Gray Talon and Vindicta who just call him a soapboxxing loser and a pretentious know-it-all respectively and he is strangely quiet after that. What I am getting at is that Billy is putting on this tough punk guy act but he is quite literally a sopping wet cat of a dude, and I love him dearly for it. Fuck you Billy, I hope you get parried in lane again. See you next time.

Valve know how to make a lovable character. Billy is not "just a punk" yes, as many other characters point out he's pretty boring, but he's a boring person, not a boring character.

As with a lot of real punks, his whole "mad at the world shtick" is basically a gesture of helplessness. He's really wants to make a better world(as it appears that he's wish for the patrons is to make a better world) but he's just a dumb kid! He doesn't know how to change the world! Of course it's not about the world, it's about him but he doesn't know that(still a dumb kid) he faced so much biases and injustice as many kids do, probably even before the goat head.

And then there's some dialogue, "people were trying to kill me since a was in a womb". What. Speaks for itself. A lot of he's lines when he's left alone(far away from team) or the last one alive are just very sad, a lot of emphasis on "why would my teammates be with me".

Even in his select lines he has a lot of shit to say about other characters, but surprise surprise, almost all of his voice lines about his teammates in game(assist, teammates deaths and stuff like that) contain nothing hating. He even has some compliments, or more like the closest ro compliments that he's capable of. He doesn't hate the world, he doesn't hate people, he doesn't hate anything, he's just confused and doesn't know what to do, just like us.
