keegan was excited to meet alec’s sister. they’d been planning it for a while, but it was hard to make things happen when you didn’t live in the same city. he smiled and waved at her as they walked up, and squeezed when she pulled him in for a hug. “don’t worry, i’m a hugger!” he laughed lightly as they pulled back from the embrace. “it does seem like that, doesn’t it? and here we finally are!” he looked back and forth between the siblings. “i see the resemblance. should we sit?”

“don’t be such a grump!” she poked his arm as he slumped into the chair beside her, and closed the book she’d been reading so she could pay attention to the conversation. “i like going on trips like this, i think it’s fun. maybe they’re more receptive to me asking them nicely to quiet down and head to their rooms?” she winked, laughing a little bit at her counterpart. “we’re almost done, two more days. it’s the home stretch!”

this wasn’t really his kind of party. henry was much more used to the kind of party where there would be kegs and flashing lights. instead he was in a shirt and having to make small talk, something he wasn’t very good at. he never really knew what to say what he did for work because ‘only fans’ wasn’t really a good answer. “babe, look how small this pastry is” he said with a grin as he took a canape from a passing tray “do you want some?”

austen knew this wasn’t really henry’s scene, but she still wanted him to come with her. she’d been doing a lot of editing for this magazine lately, so it was only polite of her to show up at the quarterly party. they’d made their way to the food now, and she couldn’t help but let her lips turn into a smile as her boyfriend noted the size of the pastries. “it’s tiny!” she agreed with him, then nodded. “i would love one. that one looks good.” she pointed to what seemed to be a miniature fruit tart with a singular raspberry on top. “i always leave these parties hungry even after eating a hundred of these little things.” she motioned to the table. “we might be hitting up a diner on the way home!”
