initial confidence is beginning to wane ever - so - slightly, but she is too stubborn, and far too angry to back down. instead, she defaults to staring him down, with the look that earned her a nickname she loathes. ( she's made interns burst into tears with that look before, but she knows derek's reaction will be considerably diluted. ) ❛ it was abundantly clear that you rushed him in there without a plan, then proceeded to disrespect your fellow surgeons, and scream at the scrub nurses, — one, of which, you made cry. ❜
of course, miranda is fully aware that derek was the patient's best option. his arrogance, whilst infuriating, is somewhat earned. he is the best at what he does, but she did not witness the world - renowned neurosurgeon in that OR. what she witnessed instead, was a spoilt manbaby taking his frustration at his personal life out on the brain of an eight year old. sloppy, and distracted.
❛ — the patient was stable, and could have waited until morning. you were angry, and just wanted to cut something. ❜
Derek couldn't believe what he was hearing from her. He knew he could be arrogant at times, but for her to tell him that he had rushed him into the OR without a plan really got to him. And not only that, she was also saying that he was bringing his personal life into work by taking his frustration out on patients. He wasn't taking any of that from her. Or from anyone. "I admit I was snappy, and I have apologized to her." Derek said. "But how dare you say that I took a patient into surgery without a plan. That boy needed that surgery. Stable can change just like that. You know that." He told her. "And do you really think I would take my frustration out by operating on someone. I would rather have a job than a lawsuit on my hands, Dr Bailey."
