Here's the thing. I work in assisted living senior care and I see a lot I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

If you see massive staff overturn when you're visiting your family that you may have in assisted living/senior care.

Ask yourself WHY?

Then ask yourself, if there is this kind of turnover in the care department, do you really want your loved ones staying there?

The only true thing you can do for them, report every little thing to licensing. EVERY. LITTLE. THING!

Constant overturn of employees means the management that oversees that facility is extremely toxic. If you speak up and say something, even though their policy is "see something, say something" you will end up being targeted for removal from the job.

When I say targeted, I mean, toxic management will find everything and anything to pin on you, whether it's true or made up, to build a case to fire you or make you quit.

Be cautious, the boss you think is your friend, ISN'T. The manager of the facility you think has your best interest in mind, DOESN'T. The fellow employee that you think is your confidant and agrees with everything that is wrong in a place and says they'll speak up and have your back, WON'T.

It's hard to just go and turn your feelings off when you're in the business of caring for others because, ultimately, you're there for them. Not the management. But the management makes it hard to look past what they do and still justify being there for the residents and families.

I love my job, the part of the job where I'm looking out for the people that live there. But I absolutely HATE the other aspects of my job.

Report for the safety of your loved one. Report for the safety of the staff. Report for your own peace of mind!
