❤┊MY HUSBAND!!!:
AS A MAN OF SCIENCE HIMSELF, KENJIROU MUST COME TO HIS OWN CONCLUSION ON THE MATTER ; one that hadn’t dabbled in the alleys of fantasy & myths. it had to be based upon cold facts, evidence that had been scientifically proven & without a doubt sure in itself, & above all else, concrete. fingers scratched at the scruff on his chin as he squinted at the sepia-toned sky from beyond his home’s window, brows furrow in thought. there were multitudes of conclusions to potentially draw here, but–
well, those would happen to come to a complete halt once he heard muffled yelling from outside his own very window. he was certain some people would be frightened or shocked ; it was natural human instinct to respond to unknown situations in terror. but this had sounded far from that – & the voice, it sounded … familiar. too familiar, in fact. it’s tone had played countless times in his head, over & over again : one whose laughter haunted him countless hours that he had been forced awake by the snake possessing his body, who had made a home within his heart & refused to leave, even after her death. surely he was imagining it – mistaking someone else’s voice for being far too similar to that of hers. he scolds himself mentally for it ; chastises his heart for tightening in his chest & crawling up his throat at some small, unrealistic chance that perhaps she had been here, just as ayano had – that was ridiculous. impossible! there had been no way for it to be true, even if it had been in ayano’s case.
so instead he sighs & glances out the window once more, lifting the sill to yell back:
❛ oi oi, keep it down, y– ❜
what.
what?
WHAT?
❛ A–AYAKA?! ❜
QUICK QUESTION: WHAT THE FUCK.
“”what the fuck ?”” -- well , that’s one way to meta about your wife . telepathic disrespect aside , that far-too familiar voice yelling her name out the window was attention-grabbing enough to get this silly woman to stop mid-hollering about ‘jesus coming in a ufo to probe the isolans’ or something along those lines . thanks for that , i guess .
‘ -- jiji ?! i , uh , can explain ! ’
as comical as the situation was , she’s acting casually out of ignorance -- to her , she’d seen her husband a little over a week ago &. nothing was otherwise amiss . there’s no comprehension of the emotions he’s going through from this distance &. no worry towards just how odd it was for him to shout her name in disbelief , it’s written off with a mental ‘ aw , he missed me ! ’ &. no further questions asked . just how is she supposed to know of alternate timelines ? sure , ayano being 18 was a bit jarring , but ... a reality where she’s dead ? what a hard pill that’ll be to swallow .
metaphorically pouring that water glass -- kenjirou’s beloved wife is gesturing for him to come over . better he than she , right ? plus , all the romantics of reuniting were in order as far as this archaeologist is concerned . would they kiss under the apocalyptic sky &. go down like jack &. rose ? ... wait , sorry . maybe the morbid death jokes are a bit too soon .
‘ don’t just stand there waiting on a fly to land in your mouth , get over here ! -- i’ll meet you at the door ! ’
&. away from the window she walks without waiting on a response . sorry kenjirou , your wife is equal parts embarrassed and over the moon to see you again .
