I wonder what it’s like to have someone fall for you. And I mean really fall for you. Not just they want to get in your pants because they think you’re attractive. But be consumed with every little piece of you. The way you talk, the way you laugh, the way you just exist. To everyone in love: you don’t know how lucky you are.
You can’t love someone unless you love yourself first — bullshit. I have never loved myself. But you — Oh god, I loved you so much I forgot what hating myself felt like.

An entire sea of water can’t sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship. Similarly, the negativity of the world can’t put you down unless you allow it to get inside you.

in german we don’t say “in the middle of nowhere” we say “at the ass of the world” and i think that’s beautiful
4-8yr Olds Describing Love.
Rebecca, age 8: When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.
Terri, age 4: Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.
Danny, age 7: Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.
Nikka, age 6: If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.
Elaine, age 5: Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.
Chris, age 7: Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.
Mary Ann, age 4: Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.
Girls night isn't about going out and getting drunk, its about enjoying each other and having a good time.

Paris doesn’t woo you. It immediately envelops you in all of the mythologies and narratives that dominate everything from the architecture to the curves in the streets.
The drama is seductively overwhelming.
It lures you in quickly and keeps you in a state of wide-eyed wonder.
Where New York City fuels longing with every sunrise and sunset, Paris seems to relish and flaunt a certain fulfillment of desire with an immediacy that never really fades.
It’s a city that is so steeped in elaborate versions of the past that the future has no choice but to succumb to the romance that comes with such lofty and beautiful presentation.

Photo-set:
1 - A view of of the architecture along the Seine on a deliciously moody afternoon when the river’s water was flowing a bright green.
2 - Looking out towards the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in the far distance over the rooftops of Paris from a beautiful vantage point on a hill in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris.
3 - A street in Montmartre.
4 - The street curves slayed me on an early Sunday morning walk through the Opera district of Paris.
5 - This is one of the most beautiful church interiors I have seen. I have to thank Hugo from Rendez Vous with Paris for taking me here.
It is L’église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis located in La Marais in Paris. It was built in the early 1600s.
6 - A view of Paris from the bell-tower on the top of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Montmartre with a tiny Eiffel Tower in the distance.
7 - I really need to make an entire post about Vaux le Vicomte and I will. But I absolutely love this view from the inside of the chateau which is located in close proximity to Paris and open to the public. With the doors open looking out towards the gardens, it was hard not to be overwhelmed with the peaceful and open feeling this chateau provides.
8 - I was fortunate enough to visit the Panthéon on the last day that I was in Paris. What an awe-inspiring monument. It’s where Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Jean Moulin, Louis Braille, Jean Jaurès, Marie Curie, and many other French national heroes are buried.
This sculpture is by François-Léon Sicard and it honors the National Convention. The mosaic in the apse is by Ernest Hebert. The triptych behind the statue is called “To Glory” and was painted on canvas by Édouard Detaille.
9 - Spring flowers and staircases in the hills of Montmartre.
10 - A woman runs down a street located on the tiny island of Île Saint-Louis in central Paris.

I am still working on setting up my new travel photography portfolio site. A number of people have inquired about purchasing prints of my Paris photography. When I am finished putting together the site (hopefully this weekend), I will definitely make an announcement.
In fact, there are a number of things I need to make posts about: the outstanding gallery event at the Park Avenue Armory that showcased my Paris photography a few nights ago, a huge announcement about my photography career, and an exciting foray into a new type of photography that I can’t wait to show everyone. It’s been an exhilarating week, that’s for sure.

Women are a balancing act Don’t eat too much, don’t eat too little. Don’t be fat, don’t be too skinny. God do you ever stop eating? Woah do you ever eat? The not-so-well-concealed looks of disgust, the not-so-well-concealed looks of concern. Don’t be loud. Don’t be quiet. Have a voice in society, leave the talking to the big boys. You want something, speak up! No, no, when it’s your turn, sweetie. Ugh, she never shuts up, it’s obnoxious. Have you ever heard her talk? I don’t even know what her voice sounds like. Make sure your skirt is long enough, but not too long. Don’t make yourself too available, but you don’t want to look like a grandma. Show off what you got, but if you do it’s your fault if anything happens. Was your skirt long enough? How is any boy going to look at you if you wear that? Have sex, but stay innocent. Give us what we want, but we hate sluts. Virgins are so sweet. What do you mean you want to stay abstinent until marriage? Do you even live in our society? Life without sex is boring. Life with sex is disgusting. God, have you seen her? She’s banged every guy in the school. God, have you seen her? Still a virgin at her age. Be smart, but not too smart. Boys like a smarter girl. Boys can’t stand it when you know more than them. Play dumb. Ugh, not that dumb, god, weren’t you even listening? They like a smarter girl. No, no, now you just look like a nerd. Girls don’t belong in the classroom, they have to take care of the kids. You want a well-paying job? Take some incentive and study. You can’t slack off because you’re a girl. Do what you love, but don’t. Be yourself, unless it goes against what we say. Do you love to do your hair and makeup? Great, you’re good to go. Approved. Do you love videogames and guns? You’re faking it. You’re lying. You’re pretending. You’re wrong
Balancing Act. A little piece I wrote because I’m tired of walking on the beam. (via bigsisterelsa)
