In autumn of 2015 I went to Norway to enjoy the beautiful nature and to visit the North Cape. I reached Tromsø by plane, because I only had ten days for this trip and I planned to have enough time enjoying the journey and taking some photos. Alta, a small town halfway to the North Cape was the first stop on this road trip and to me this first track between Tromsø and Alta was the most beautiful on this tour. My recommendation is to take the long way without any ferry and to leave the main road behind, whenever you have the chance to. You are almost alone on all the roads and you can stop everywhere to take a walk or some photos. If you are an experienced photographer, I recommend bringing some grey filter with you. There are many small rivers and waterfalls for photo shoots with a long exposure time. The nature was just breathtaking and I wished I could stop the time on any other second. Of course, you can do the whole way to the North Cape on one day, but - believe me - , you will miss the best. If you leave Alta behind, the vegetation becomes increasingly sparse, but it's still wonderful. And it's getting colder and windier, prepare some warm clothes, especially if you reach the region around the North Cape. Be warned, youâll see a lot of reindeer, particularly in the north they appear suddenly and pass the road in front of the car. Arrived at the most northern point, you need a lot of luck, because the North Cape is befogged most time of the year completely. For me it was difficult to find my way back to the car. If you plan to stay overnight, I recommend to take a hotel in SkarsvĂĽg. SkarsvĂĽg is the most northern fishing village in Europe and the last overnight accommodation before North Cape. The rooms in the âNordkapp Turist Hotelâ are simple, but clean, the owners are very friendly and the food is delicious. I can also recommend a hotel near Alta. The âOngajoksetraâ in Mathisdalen is a very romantic place for one night or more. The rooms are quite simple and you only have a kind of earth closet, but there is nothing except nature around and the food is fantastic here as well. You also need a bit of patience to reach the hotel, you drive a long time on a dirt road and pass some really small bridges, but the ride through nature will be worth it.
