Even the characters are hunkering down for a long storm…

Honestly though, this is even better than a typical meet and greet.

One: no lines.

Two: these kids could meet their favorite characters, and have long, memorable moments with them. Like, sure, you can talk to your favorite character briefly and get a picture with them after waiting in line for 45 minutes (or longer!), which is still memorable in it’s own right… or, you can remember the time you played blocks with Jake the Never Land Pirate.

Three: these families were stuck in their hotel on vacation, while Walt Disney World was closed. And there’s a huge hurricane outside, and they’re away’re away from the comforts of home, and that’s scary. So Disney brings out their characters to have fun with the kids to make the best of a bad situation, and maybe make an awful day turn into a good one. And maybe those kids will remember being scared when they were stuck in the hotel, but I’d like to think they’ll look back with a smile because there was still that Disney magic helping to make everything wonderful.

Sometimes we forget that Disney is someones name. The very word “Disney” is synonymous with happiness, wonder, love, childhood, fairy tales. As someone who genuinely wants to work in animation I can only dream of creating something so incredible that it could stand up to the vast empire that is Disney.
