PRIVATE: As soon as Joe was handed the glass of whiskey, he lifted it to his lips and downed the entire thing in one gulp. It was out of character for him to be so persistent with drinking, but the burning sensation from the amber liquid oddly soothed him as he stared down at the now empty glass. “No, I’m not sick and my parents are fine,” he assured. Inhaling a deep breath, he let go of it slowly before finally deciding to make eye contact with Ja’Marr. “It’s Madelyn, actually… She’s pregnant.”

Private: Ja'Marr's eyebrows shot up as soon Joe downed the scotch all at once. This was not his best friend at all, so now his concern was spiked even more. Wordlessly, he poured more whiskey in Joe's cup, anxiously awaiting what was to come. When he heard that Joe and his folks were okay, relief spread through his body. Still, it didn't answer what the hell was going on. Bringing the glass up to his lips, Jay took a sip, but nearly spit out the whiskey as soon as Joe's words left his lips. He coughed, patting his chest as the whiskey went down his throat. "She's what?" he questioned, letting out a small cough. There were so many thoughts going through his head right now, but none of those mattered. "Pregnant... you're going to be a dad?!"

We do the top 3 teams from each division, and then there’s two wild cards in each conference. Which I hate, by the way - even though the wild card is probably how we’re going to make the playoffs this year if we do. The way it’s set up now, one division leader will play the first wild card team, the other division leader will play the other wild card team and then the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the same division will play each other. Same thing for the Western conference.  I feel like I made that really complicated haha, but i really do wish it was just seeded 1 - 8 in each conference and do 1/8, 2/7, 3/6, 4/5 because at least then good teams might make it deeper you know? the way they have it where the 2nd and 3rd in the division have to play first round, means a really strong team is getting bounced early. I don’t think that’s rude or intrusive, but I mean…. I wasn’t expecting it now - at all, and i guess to an extent I had to wrap my head around it. I love kids though, and definitely knew I wanted my own at some point down the line - just didn’t know ‘down the line’ meant right now haha. 

Yeah, that shit definitely sounds confusing, but I'm sure you'd think the same thing about how our playoffs are held. We have wild cards, too! Probably doesn't matter all that much of what anyone thinks about how the playoffs are set up, the league will do what they want, what the leaders want. I hope you'll make it to the playoffs! Totally understandable, it came as a bit of a shock. Mhm, makes sense, makes sense. I don't know if anyone is really ever ready for kids, but I have no doubt that you'll make it work! And you're having the baby with someone you love, right? That's the best gift of all.

Ah, that makes more sense! It would be embarrassing to play all that football, then even sprain your ankle whilst trampolining! I would say I lean towards some teams more than others, but I am not a diehard fan for any particular teams. The closest I am to that sort of thing is Paris St. Germain. I am more invested in the summer Olympic sports, but I watch both if I can! They do, but I am a leisure cycler, not one who could compete any time soon!

That’s exactly right! Sucks sometimes, but there’ll be a time when we’re done with football and able to do more extra curricular type of sports. Ah, okay, well maybe this coming season we can make ya more a diehard for the Bengals. That’ll be my goal at least. That’s fair, the summer ones seem to draw more attention, anyway. But, I too try to watch both of them. Bet, leisure cycling is fine. Nothing wrong with just doing it for fun. Not everything in life has to be about competition.

Yeah I think  so. They are cute, I love a dog with big ears, I used to have a miniature beagle called Hobo, she was my dream girl. I always struggle with Dottie when she’s sick because she never complains, she just gets on with her ailments so I never know if there’s anything wrong with her until it’s severe. Like she’s an old girl now and she gets problems with her hips when she walks sometimes but she didn’t tell me.  I always say there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. 

Awh, Hobo, that's a cute name. I think all dogs are cute in their own way. Dogs can't speak, and that sucks because you never really know what's bothering them. Ahh, yeah, certain dogs do have hip problems. Poor little ones. One hundred percent. No dog is innately bad, some are just trained to be that way, or they've been neglected so they act out. Poor, poor babies.

Private: "Whiskey, right. You got it," Ja'Marr muttered, turning on his heel to head to the kitchen. He quickly grabbed the liquor bottle before pouring it into two glasses, along with an ice cube in each. "Drink this and then tell me. You're honestly scaring the shit out of me, Joe. Are you... are you sick? Is it your parents?"

“Okay, okay, okay,” Sabrina finally agreed. She was unable to contain the smile on her face just at the thought of getting to spend so much time with her boyfriend. Not that she didn’t already, but now that Ja’Marr would be on the road with her for a couple months, it was going to be a little different. She let out a sigh while he kissed her and she didn’t hesitate to kiss back, snaking her arms around his neck. “And rehearsals are going so well lately, I can’t wait for all the fans to hear what I’ve been working on.”

"Mm, I bet. You're going to do amazing, baby. And all your fans are going to love you and it, just like I do," Jay said with a grin, hoisting Sabrina up so that she was sat on the counter. It was much easier this way since they were now eye-level with each other. He kept his hands wrapped around her waist and forehead pressed to hers while his lips ghosted hers. "I'm really looking forward to this whole experience."

Jay: Yeah, I guess so. I don't really have love for any certain city other than where I grew up, and I think the reason why that is is pretty self-explanatory. Y'all still planning on heading to Hawaii?

Not even for a hobby? That is one strict contract! Perhaps they don’t want athletes doing what Michael Jordan did and suddenly switching sports at the height of their career. I do enjoy soccer, yes. I also watch hockey, rugby, gymnastics, whatever is on the television that looks interesting. I love the Olympics - I am always spoiled for choice on what sports to watch. I am not actively involved in most, though. I cycle quite a bit, but that’s the extent of my athletic pursuits, most of the time. 

I think that the reason they do it, even as a hobby, is to prevent us from getting a career-ending injury. Shit like pickleball is cool, but basketball isn’t. Sounds like you enjoy watching lots of different sports. Do you have a favorite team for them all, or do you just watch leisurely? Man, who doesn’t like the Olympics? There’s always some dope events that they have on. Do you have a preference for winter or summer Olympics? People compete at cycling, so that’s something I’d say!

oscar: for what it's worth, i'm a very busy man and sports are not my thing. i grew up in the theater, so i'm shut off from everything else. of course i'm disappointed, but you fellas played a hard battle and it shows. there is always next year though, and if you play next year like you did this year then i have no doubt the super bowl will be yours.

jay: ha, well at least you agree i should take offense to it

jay: that's absolutely valid, sports are not for everyone. so are you still following all the theater type of things? thanks, bro, very kind of ya to say. i hope i'm able to play better next year. i was out for several weeks this season, and hoping to avoid that in the future!

That’s very very true. Once the playoffs start, it’s a brand new season - doesn’t matter if you’re 1st or you’re 8th, we all have the same chance. Oh, the ball was amazing - I loved seeing my girl dressed up too. My favourite thing though was probably the art museums, just because that was something Sofia and I could do together, you know?
