This horribly unflattering photo shows us absolutely miserable. We had been up since two in the morning to get downtown to wait in line for Comic Con. It was a cold morning, and we were exhausted. But there's no one else I would have shared those miserable con line days with than you. You've been one of my closest friends for 15 years now, and I don't know that there's anyone I'm more in sync with than you. We've been in different cities with different lives for a decade or so now, but I feel we are still the same when we see each other. I can't express enough how thankful I am to have you and to have spent the weekend with you to celebrate your birthday in person! I wish I could be there on the actual day, but we'll have many more years to celebrate getting older. Happy Birthday, @michaelceratops. You're my aesthetic. 😘

i despise when others control my happiness. you can feel yourself yearning for the person, wanting to talk to them everyday, not caring if you’re always the one to initiate a conversation. you can feel yourself deciding, ‘i’m going to let my fate rest in their hands. they might destroy me, but i’ll take a leap of faith here.’ you can feel yourself becoming weaker because it’s that one person who provides strength, and once they’re gone, you’re left on your knees, wondering how the hell you’re going to recover. and if you rarely ever let anyone in to begin with? oh, boy. you really set yourself up for a fall. i think it’s something we’ve all been through. the scars on your knees fade over time. we may be down for a while, maybe even years, but we have to be strong enough to take the hand of those who try to lift us up again.

Are you tired of negative thoughts? Always thinking of your imperfections? Constantly thinking something will go wrong? That no one loves you? Losing your mind over criticism? Spending hours telling yourself how worthless you are and comparing your life to others?  Are you missing out on opportunities due to your pessimistic thoughts? Is your life spiraling down due to this? 

Well, I too have been there. Since I was about nine years old all I could think about was bad things, and it eventually became a habit of mine. Each morning before school I would get killer cramps, diarrhea and sometimes even vomited before the school bus came to pick me up.  My body reacted to my never ending negative thoughts and I eventually developed Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). So, I am here to tell you my tips and tricks that I used to overcome this bad habit of mine.

Meet the real women behind Hidden Figures.

In the early days of the Space Race, Dorothy Vaughan headed the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics’ (NACA) West Area Computing unit. It was an important but segregated unit of mostly female mathematicians doing aerospace calculations by hand. When NACA became NASA in 1958, the Analysis and Computation Division desegregated and Vaughan became a sought-after expert on FORTRAN  – a programming language used on IBM mainframes.

Vaughan is one of the women whose work inspired the film Hidden Figures — a true story of three African American mathematicians who helped NASA launch the first Americans into space.
