Hi all!

Finally, my first post’s here! As promised, it’s about my 1st Open Mic!!!

So, a few months ago in August, I entered in my first open mic. I never had the courage to do so, because doing things out of your comfort zone are terribly scary. Even more freaky when you’re used to stay in your safety zone. It’s safe and doesn’t confront you with your own fears, but it hasn’t helped me grow and now I’m ready for more improvements!!! Because of a friend’s encouragements, I finally took that first step of performing in front of people to get over my stage fright. 

Just to picture how bad I have it, I failed a dozen presentations in high school because of stage fright. I couldn’t get a word out, or I started stuttering or I just froze at the sight of a group of peoples eyes all on me. I had class performances with classical singing or piano in the past which I failed bigtime or which were really embarrassing, and they kinda became small trauma’s that made this step even bigger than I could imagine. I tried it before as a street performer, but I was always so focused on people’s reactions instead of having fun and focussing on my singing and guitarplay. I automatically felt as if I failed… #NotHealthy For that reason, I started making music online. Because I just love singing with my whole heart, but I could never perform decently. Livestreaming (These days on https://jive.live/jazzyke ) has helped me a lot to get less scared of people’s opinion about my singing. It was time to take it to a stage where I could actually see people and their judgments and perform without a care in the world. And I did it. I was scared as f**k, but I did it with the help of my friends who didn’t let me quit. I’m very grateful for that! After performing I was very proud of finally doing it! I opened the open mic with my song “sometimes I wonder” with my acoustic guitar. It only was a performance of 3 minutes, but it made me want to perform more, and I definitely will! That’s the reason for stepping out of my comfort zone!! More Open Mics and performances are planned in the near future, I also plan on starting street performing again. Why so music?

MUSIC has almost only positive notes in my life… It’s my way of relieving stress and It also makes me feel like I can do something that other People like me doing,which is a great confidenceboost and if there’s even a chance that 1 person can feel less stressed out by my music, or inspired like I’ve got inspired, I want to be able to give what I get/got out of music to that 1 person… life can be hell, music is my heaven …
