Dredwew week Day 4: AU
@dredwew-week
(Some AU dredwew stuff below)
It was a rather warm day. The sun was out and the wind was whistling on by. Lovely day for a picnic. But they had no time for picnics! It was a stress filled day as Ed and Drew were on a mission! The group of six needed a very important ingredient for their week long to a far away village.
So what was the ingredient?
Ed was just happy that he could relax for once. This time he wasn’t gonna do anything dangerous, to help the group. He was just sat at the stump of the apple tree, resting his head against his arms. He kept one eye open just to keep an eye on Drew, who was the one getting the apples.
Which was honestly quite a funny show, for the fallen Prince. Since of course Drew was rather short, he couldn’t quite reach the branches where the apples were. So Ed, standing at 6’2 instead of helping, quietly laughed under his breath.
Drew saw this from the corner off his eye. And just sighed. But he wasn’t gonna ask for help! He could this by himself!
Ed though soon fell into a light sleep. Which kind of beat the point of why he was there.
Drew looked other at Ed. Smiling a little. There was his independence, he didn’t need someone to look after him. He jumped up onto the nearest branch and pulled himself up, opening up his bag and finally getting as many apples as he wanted to pick. Which was gonna be all of them.
Drew saw a couple of apples that were above where he was sat. He’d have to climb another branch to get to them. So he did. But his judgement on how much weight the branch could take was a little off, as it snapped as soon as he put his two feet on the branch.
Ed woke up to a branch hitting his head. Looking up, the tree was a lot higher than he thought. Ed quickly stood up. As he saw Drew hanging on another branch, that was still quite far from the ground.
“I was asleep for five minutes and you’re already in trouble.” Ed rubbed his eyes.
“I know.” Drew mumbled, feeling his feet dangling, there wasn’t anything for him to hang onto. “Can you catch my bag?”
Ed gave a confused look. “Uh no? Why would I catch your bag, its over your shoulder, meaning that your gonna have to let go off one hand and probably fall anyway.” Ed stated, putting his sword on the ground. “So you might as well drop.” He put his arms out. “I’ll catch you.”
Drew couldn’t, he didn’t know where Ed was. “I’ll uh figure out how to get down.”
“Drew, let go off the branch.” Ed instructed. “If I don’t catch you, your brother, whatever his name was will kill me.”
Drew looked down, Ed was below him. It seemed like Ed would catch him. But did he really trust him?
“So promise you’ll catch me.” Drew could heard the branch departing from the tree.
Drew let go off the branch, but another problem occurred when his glove was stuck. “Um…” Drew said awkwardly, one hand now stuck on the branch, and with that it fell off.
Ed was quick to react getting hit on the head with the branch as he caught Drew, tripping a little, but he regained his composure. “You okay?” Ed looked down at Drew, seeing as though the smaller fit perfectly in his arms.
“Yes I’m okay.” Drew seemed a little stunned, a few leaves in his hair. “Thank you for catching me.”
“No problem. I mean I would of died if I didn’t catch you.” Ed stated.
Drew looked a little confused, which Ed thought was rather cute.
“How many apples did you get?”
“Quite a lot.” Drew opened his bag and looked at all the apples. “Think this is enough?”
Ed nodded in agreement. “I mean, were not gonna live off apples, bet those apples could last two weeks.” He continued, kind of hungry for an apple now…
Drew brought out one of the juiciest looking ones, noticing the way Ed looked at it. “Here.” Drew passed it over, despite Ed not being able to take it, as he was still holding Drew.
“Share?” Ed sat down on the ground in one swift movement. Drew now sat in his lap.
Ed took the apple snapped it in half with his bare hands, making apple juice go everywhere. Ed handed one half to Drew, which Drew graciously took. The two ate it rather happily, sitting in a pleasant silence.
Drew leaned against Ed’s chest, surprised that Ed didn’t really mind. Ed wrapped his arms around Drew, falling asleep again. Drew felt relaxed as well, oddly he soon fell asleep too.
The wind whistled on by, picking a few leaves up as the sun continued to blossom in the sky. Goodness knows how long the two were asleep. But when Ed woke up again, it was somehow night.
Ed quickly picked up Drew and went back to where the group was camping, praying that no one would yell at him too much.
