I’m just ALWAYS THINKING about how Kairi and Axel get a whole bonding arc, how they’re teamed up when they split in to the labyrinth. It’s implied they became a duo. And then. Xion comes back. The person who Axel kept looking for in the shape of Kairi’s face and the lilt of her words.

And suddenly Kairi isn’t needed anymore.

In all fairness, canonically Kairi was separated from Axel for the rest of the game (what short bit was left of it) after Xion returned, so I don’t necessarily think there was any real circumstance of Kairi “not being needed anymore” after that, so much as it was just “she isn’t here right now”

but i absolutely LOVE the idea of Kairi feeling inadequate compared to Xion …
