THIS is one of the smoothest, well produced and packaged mixtapes that I’ve come across in a while. If you know ANYTHING about DBZ from your life and love rap, you’ll connect to at least one track. My favourites have to be “Dior” featuring Sha, and “Final Form”.

SPOTLIGHT: DISTRICT VIBE

The young woe Devontée has released a thanksgiving feast for the world, and the vibe is HEAVY. This six-month-in-the-making mixtape is the second free release from the Blake street Beethoven, picking up where he left off with the Devontée x Devontée EP last year.

The tape is a blessing to existing fans and a self sustaining intro to the unfamiliar ear. Self-produced Devontée takes you through Blake Street with “The Ends” and “Bare Tings”, drops a few RnB’esque 808 laced ballads like “Luh2Giv” and “The Meaning”. He then completes the masterpiece on a conscious note with “Finding Myself” and “Godspeed”, with a perfectly placed feature by the one and only Joey Bada$$.

Flow is on point, all of the beats SLAP, and there are a few ice cold beat transitions displaying Devontée’s composition talents buried between tracks that you’ll have to find for yourself. He also makes use of some familiar samples in clever ways…definitely a large highlight for Toronto sound as a whole, and an exclamation point for the 22 year old woe's career thus far.
