So I've been thinking to myself I should both start trying to doodle at least one thing a day AND start trying to build some editorial style cartoon backlog. And kindly Rick Santorum came to my rescue with some perfect inspiration. I have to say the CPR part is actually not what I thought was the dumbest part of what he said, but it was certainly the silliest.

I’ve been watching Dragon Ball Super lately, and while doing so got into a conversation where I found out my girlfriend was a total nerd over DBZ when she was in middle school. And so the idea for this doodle was born. Trying to mimic Toriyama’s shading style was frustrating, I felt like I had to ignore everything I learned in art school.
Last Halloween I made a portrait for my grandmother (it was her 100th birthday). Mostly just an amalgamation of things in her life, like the text from her mug being on the bottom of the image as it’s written. I’m sure the other items are obvious enough. Watercolor is not my preferred medium, but this was kind of fun.

For e brief bit I was involved in a drawing a day group. Here’s a bit of the stuff I made during it.
So the officers working for this piece of shit (Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell) were not charged with anything after hitting a 19 month old with a grenade in a drug raid (when their target wasn't even present).

Illustrations I did for cards in a boardgame design assignment. We had to make a game about City of Glass by Paul Auster.
Just some doodles done for a class assignment. Illustrated a date night I had. I'm clearly very out of practice and need to start drawing again.
Last image I made for my finals. One of my favorite Street Fighter characters, and just another excuse for more experiments in inking and brush work and so on. I wish I hadn't done the burst at his feet. Initially it was going to be a light source for an underlit background, but this was more fun.
The third of my five images from finals. Got the funny idea while working on Pathfinder stuff, to make a dwarven ninja, armed with Chinese weapons. The sky in this one was so fun.

Anyway, more schoolwork. Just a random fantasy illustration. Been playing a game of Pathfinder lately, so high fantasy tropes are on my mind.
A self portrait for 2013 with the shortest my hair has been in a decade or so. This was another piece of school work. The line art is done with brush using both black and white ink. The "shading" was done with finger prints.
Inking practice from class. Not sure who the penciler was. All brushwork.
In class caricature exercise. Classmates based on photos they provided. The Pancakes thing is due to the photo having a caption of "Bitch, you said there would be pancakes!"
It was a fun exercise, I may do more in the future.
More classwork. We had to take a photo from the internet, draw it, and then digitally two tone it. I picked Don Frye. Not the best fighter, or most well known, but it was a fight of his (Takayama) that got me into MMA. If you haven't seen Frye vs Takayama, give it a google search. It showcases Frye's greatest attribute, ridiculous durability.
