Well, it was the first ten minutes and they were already getting somewhere. Genevieve wrote down notes as he spoke, especially the laundry list of things he dealt with. “You could go the long way, or you could tell me why it’s that your assistant is the one that made you want to seek help? They’re obviously close to you, worry about you...” Gen looked up at Killian and pursed her lips. “Given what you’ve told me already I’m concerned. Drugs and alcohol have a huge impact on mood and thought. As does promiscuous actions, but The narcotics and drinking have caught my attention for now... How do you feel when you take these things and put them into your body? What is it about them that keeps you coming back?” She wasn’t getting off track, but she could tell there was more to what he was telling her, and targeting his actions, or reactions to his life situations got her closer to uncovering why it was he did things like these.

He was grateful for her words, knowing that she really did care about him. he moved to lay back in her arms, closing his eyes as he rested his head on her chest. “We should just get married,” he said with a soft laugh as he closed his eyes. “I mean it’d be great and I’d be a great step dad,”he teased. “I’m amazed we haven’t at least made out,” he added with another soft laugh, turning to kiss her cheek quickly before he lay his head back down. “Maybe I should put myself back on Grindr or something. And Tinder. Just try it out. I just feel like everyone is so much younger here, I need a man,” he said with a laugh and finally sat up again. “I’m done with wine, I’m moving to tequila.”

The mood lightened and Genevieve was grateful. Hanging out with Rubén was always better in a light mood. Of course they had each other’s backs through thick and thin, but in general, everything was better with chill vibes. Gen laughed inwardly and shook her head at her own thoughts before facing Rubes once again. “We should get married, you’re absolutely right. We should get married and be happy.” Gen grabbed her wine glass and took a sip. “You’d be a fantastic step-father, no doubt in my mind.” Her laughs were small and she couldn’t help but shake her head at his comment about making out. “It’s one of the world’s greatest mysteries.” She teased and took another sip. “We can be on tinder together. Gotta say though. The app is crap. No one wants anything serious they just want to add me on snapchat to see my tits and ass. Charming, right?” The brunette shook her head and sighed. “Maybe it’s different on your side of the spectrum. Let me know if you find a real Mangaso to hold you down.” She chuckled. “Better let my babysitter know it’ll be an all-night job. I know I’m not leaving this place with Tequila in my system.”

“I don’t know,” he said and threw his hands up slightly. “I genuinely don’t know what the fuck I want. Some nights I’m sitting here alone and thinking, god, this would be so much nicer with someone here. Someone who I liked to talk to, sleep with, be with. And other nights I can’t stand the idea of someone in my bed.” He laughed sadly and shrugged. “Every since Javi, it’s like there’s been this gaping hole in my heart. The one man I fall in love with, truly fall in love with is married and I mean you can’t get past that. He couldn’t. And he chose his wife over me, I can’t be upset at him for wanting to save his marriage but I wish he would have thought about that before he told me he loved me. I feel like an idiot, still. I feel like I’m floating and I-” he stopped himself and took a breath. “I just want a romance in my life to work out for once. I want someone to romance me, I fucking deserve it,” he said with a sad smile. “That’s all I want…a romance. Of epic proportions, not too much, right?” He smirked and reached for his drink. “Love sucks. But it’s also one of the most beautiful things we have.”

Nodding her head slowly, she took in what he was saying and tried to emphasize, The loneliness, she could get on with. The one day wanting someone special in her bed the next day no one but herself was something she definitely could relate to, but the rest was something she couldn’t really imagine. “He made it seem like you two had a fighting chance and that hurts. I couldn’t imagine what that kind of rejection feels like and I honestly hope I never do.” Gen gave him a sad smile and nodded her head. “You do deserve it, and I know it’ll come for you,” Gen said genuinely. Rubén was an angel on earth, he cared about others, was this ray of sunshine in anyone’s day. he deserved love. He just had to have faith that the universe was in the works of making it happen. “Not too much at all and I know it’s going to happen Rubén, I can feel it.” Her smile was big and bright and full of optimism. “That’s very true. too true.” Gen sighed. “Come here, babe.” She outstretched her arms out to him for a hug and pouted a little.

When his name was called, Killian breathed out slowly and closed the magazine in his hands, placing it on the table next to him he stood up and offered the doctor a smile. There was no reason to be an asshole. At least not yet. “That’s me” he answered crossing the room and outstretching his hand to greet her. He was glad the slightly shake in his hand wasn’t obvious, his anxiety getting the best of him. He hated the idea of what talking would drag up. His past was something he had buried deep, and his current problems were something he’d rather not talk about. But that was the entire point of this. “Dr. Loewe, it’s nice to meet you.”

Why in the world would he ever need to sit on some couch and talk about his feelings to some stranger? It didn’t seem like his thing considering talking about his feelings in general was tough for him. But he had promised someone who he didn’t like breaking promises to. ‘You could loose everything, Killian.’ So here he was, sitting in a chair in a waiting room for a psychiatrist, legs crossed as he flipped through the GQ in his lap.

Reviewing her new patient in her office, Genevieve learned the basics of Killian,. He was forty-five years old, lived in Hermosa, was here voluntarily. “Okay. Just a regular patient, Gen you’ve got this.” The tall brunette got up, making sure her room was all set up before she stepped out and grabbed Killian from the waiting room. “Killian Fitzgerald?” She had a smile on her plump lips as she waited for someone in her waiting room to get up and follow after her. A little nervous because she always got nervous with new patients—jiitters. However, she was sure that once she got into the swing of things it'd all be fine like always.

Gen Laughed and nodded her head. “Super wild.” Her wild days seemed to be behind her truthfully, now that she had a child especially. Though that didn’t stop her from having fun sometimes. Like having a drink with a very handsome man or hanging out with friends. “She has a nanny on call. I can come out.” Her voice was calm, nonchalant, but the words seemed eager in a way. She cringed as she thought about it, setting her weights down herself. “That is if you’ll still have me.”

Gen noticed his stumbles and smiled at him. “Do you need any suggestions?” She asked, continuing her reps as she spoke. “I’m probably going to run errands and get home to make dinner. Pretty peaceful night.” That seemed to be most of her nights these days. Just her and her daughter Sofia.

He let out a sigh as he felt her hand on his arm, knowing that it was foolish to even try to lie to her. Aside from the fact that it was basically her profession, they had been friends long enough that Rubén actually felt comfortable being open with her. Which wasn’t something he could say about a lot of people. Rubén was an easygoing and loving person but he kept things close to his chest and he kept his actual inner circle quite small. He found it necessary to protect oneself. Not everyone in the world could be trusted, no matter how kind they may seem at first. “I really liked Nico,” he said finally, adjusting on the couch. “And then he left and I,” he shrugged and sighed. “It affected me more than I thought it would be and it’s not like were dating but it just sucked. And I thought…I don’t know, I thought that maybe we could really have something and I keep thinking that maybe if I had said something sooner he might have stayed.” He shrugged and ran a hand over his face. “But whatever, it happens yanno? I’m just..getting old,” he said with a laugh, “maybe it’s time for me to settle down. Who knows.” He shrugged before smiling when she asked about Heath. “He’s very handsome. He and his brother both are, that whole family has good genes. Their dad is a total silver fox too,” he said with a laugh.

The mood suddenly shifted again and Genevieve was attentive to every word. She knew something was going on, she could tell and he brought up Nico she nodded her head. Gen felt horrible for him. She couldn’t imagine the amount of rejection he felt, or how abandoned he might well. “I know Nico was a big deal to you, and I’m sorry he left but as cliché, as it may sound, maybe he just wasn’t meant to be in your life.” her voice was a mere whisper and her arm went back to caressing his in support. “You can sit here and torture yourself about the what-ifs, and what could've, but the truth of the matter is that he’s no longer in Hermosa and that was his choice. Unfortunately, you were greatly affected by it.” Genevieve couldn’t help but be a little bitter. Rubén was her best friend and seeing him hurt like this tore her heart in two. “Have you really given thought of settling down?” She wondered, never really picturing Rubén as the type to ever settle down. In her head, he was forever a handsome bachelor. Just living his life, but if settling down was an actual thought of his, Genevieve supported it fully. Taking her hand off his arm, she found herself nodding again, picturing the brothers. They were actually her type which is funny that he mentioned the two. “I don’t know their father but I can imagine. Genes like that.”

The coffee shop was definitely crowded and Elena wasn’t used to it. She knew the owner and it was a very small coffee shop with not enough space for the people that were in it, so when she heard the woman’s voice (much taller woman, that is) not from far away from her, Elena felt the need to apologize, or at least provide with some explanation. “Uhm, it’s definitely an unusual day,” she said with a small smile. “I usually come here every day and it’s not this crowded, maybe they were not prepared for it?”

Immediately Gen felt guilty for saying anything. She blamed her new heels for being cranky, but nevertheless, she felt guilty. “Do you work here?” Her voice was soft and she looked at the beautiful woman waiting for an answer until she couldn’t wait anymore to explain herself. “I’m sorry if you do, it’s just been a long day.” Genevieve gestured towards her feet and chuckled a little.

He hated that it affected him, that the man had such an affect on him. But he had finally started to feel himself opening up. The night of the bonfire had been deeply intimate, intense and it was clear that there was something there for both of them. But then he was gone and Rubén was reminded why he didn’t let himself get intersted in people. Because in the end they left, they hurt you and they never looked back. “I’m out there, enjoying myself, going out. I’m gonna have another party soon so,” he smiled over at her. “Oh well Heath Levinstein came by the store today. That was nice. He’s always a sight for sore eyes,” he said with a warm smile. “Otherwise I’m just living life as is, mi amor.”

Talking to people seven days out of the week for hours really helped Genevieve with her practice of reading people. She could tell there was more to it for Rubén, but she didn’t want to pus if he didn’t want to talk about it. “Rubén, I know you’re a man of mystery and it goes into that sex appeal very well, but you don’t have to keep up your walls with me. I’m always here for you.” She placed her hand on his forearm, caressing the skin there with her thumb for a brief moment before pulling away. A few seconds later Gen found herself laughing lightly. “Well, I’m glad you’re enjoying life and are planning to have a party.” It was her turn to wiggle her eyebrows now. “Heath, huh? Handsome guy. I don’t know him, but he’s a very handsome man.”
