I think there wasn’t a better or a worse choice: the sultanate can’t keep its independence. Even Zaganos was forced to admit that Turkyie has to become an empire too. Me:

To me, among the sultans Ayse and Beyazid are the idealistic ones, Ismail the pragmatic one and Orhan the anti-political one. For Ayse and Beyazid the cultural bond is stronger than anything else, they are genuinely fond of Torkyie as they would be of their mother and, if required, they would sacrifice their relatives for a greater good. The argument “We must avoid infightings at any cost” works well on them.

Ismail would have ride any horse that would probably put him on the throne. It doesn’t matter if his sultanate gems are sold to Torkyie for 3 sehir whereas torkyieian people sell them for 30 sehir or more, he is not greedy, business is good enough the way it is and he betted the survival of the sultanate on keeping the status quo. In fact he is convinced by Beyazid’s Shark yay.

Orhan is the only one who would be happy not being a sultan at all as long as he can protect Ayse. He used the argument “my father betrayed his own word and was not worth of his title”. Mahmut has never tried to convince him, Orhan reasoning is beyond diplomacy. He is a wild card.

@aonoou Mirzak border countries are Torkyie and Balt-Rhein and its army, even combined with the other sultanates, isn’t big enough to face Torkyie or Balt-Rhein on its own. Under the Balt-Rhein Impire would Mizrak be freer? We won’t never know! Besides, if all the sultans die Torkyie could legitimately claim the succession. There are plenty of dead flags but I still hope it wouldn’t be a massacre…

Tyger Tyger

Because he features prominently in Chapter 105, I thought I’d take a moment to talk about Balaban’s faithful tame tiger, and all-around good boy, Al-Sakal.

I’ll begin by saying that there’s actually no official evidence that Al-Sakal is male. You can’t see its genitalia (though, being domesticated, there’s every chance Al-Sakal is sans family jewels) and it’s never referred to with gender specific pronouns. However, the name Al-Sakal, which translates to “Redbeard”, seems more suited to a tiger than a tigress, so he is assumed to be male. Besides, we know Balaban greatly prefers the company of male humans… why not assume the same for fauna? 

Realistically, Al-Sakal would most likely be a Caspian tiger, which were native to East and Central Asia including Turkey. They were declared extinct at the end of the 20th century. Caspian tigers had thick, bright coloured pelts and distinctive ring-shaped markings on their tails, which is consistent with Al-Sakal’s design. Mayhap you’ll see a slight resemblance in this photo?

Al-Sakal is a mature male and has a stocky, powerful build. His size tends to vary, but he is usually around half of Beyazit’s height (90cm). This is smaller than average for a male tiger, which can stand as tall as 4 feet (122cm) to the shoulder. His length and weight are impossible to know - Caspian tigers were described as the second largest big cat, after their Siberian cousins. Possibly something in the region of 9 feet (280cm) long and 450lbs.

According to Kato Kotono, Al-Sakal was born when Balaban was twenty, which makes him about sixteen as of recent chapters. In captivity, tigers have been known to live well into their twenties. Safe to say he’s getting on in years, though. I’d like to know how Balaban got his hands on a tiger cub.

The Ottoman Empire was known for its large menageries of wild animals, including tigers. I can’t find any individual examples of sultans keeping tigers as pets, but the idea is not far fetched, considering evidence of them using tamed leopards, cheetahs, and even lions when out hunting. Unlike Al-Sakal, domesticated big cats typically had their claws and fangs removed. 

There you have it! I hope you’ll show your full appreciation for this, the best and loyalest of chunky boys.

After mulling over it for a moment, I started to notice a deeper meaning behind Alois Trancy’s birth name and alias.

Jim: “Supplanter - someone who takes the place of someone else”

We only knew Jim Macken as a mere child, the boy that resorted to thievery and violence to fend for himself and his younger brother Luka.

His life as Jim Macken was short lived, and during that short life, he clung to his naivety and childlike innocence - the innocence that Luka kept alive in him.

After Luka died, I feel, is when Jim Macken was really laid to rest. The child that was once so full of love and life no longer existed, for his innocence was stolen from him.

The Earl Trancy took him in, and Jim became Alois. Jim Macken is a shell of who Alois Trancy once was, and no longer will be.  

That, along with the fake story he made up to those that questioned him; is why he will not respond to his birth name and denies any recollection of ever being Jim Macken. 

Alois : “Famous Warrior”

This definition really stuck out to me. Alois Trancy was a fighter, in every aspect of his life.

He was a warrior. A survivor. Despite his mental instability and his insatiable thirst for love, Alois Trancy was strong beyond his years.

Luka’s death. The kidnapping. The sexual abuse. The isolation. Claude’s betrayal. The hatred and pain that he harbored. PTSD - and despite the full on warfare raging within his subconscious, Alois Trancy lived.

He struggled, but he carried on, even when he had no one to call his own. Even when there was nothing left to live for - he persevered.

Alois Trancy was a warrior.

Constellations and the Calendar

Did you recently hear that NASA changed the zodiac signs? Nope, we definitely didn’t…

…Here at NASA, we study astronomy, not astrology. We didn’t change any zodiac signs, we just did the math. Here are the details:

First Things First: Astrology is not Astronomy…

Astronomy is the scientific study of everything in outer space. Astronomers and other scientists know that stars many light-years away have no effect on the ordinary activities of humans on Earth.

Astrology, meanwhile, is something else. It’s the belief that the positions of stars and planets can influence human events. It’s not considered a science.

Some curious symbols ring the outside of the Star Finder. These symbols stand for some of the constellations in the zodiac. What is the zodiac and what is special about these constellations?

Imagine a straight line drawn from Earth though the sun and out into space way beyond our solar system where the stars are. Then, picture Earth following its orbit around the sun. This imaginary line would rotate, pointing to different stars throughout one complete trip around the sun – or, one year. All the stars that lie close to the imaginary flat disk swept out by this imaginary line are said to be in the zodiac.

The constellations in the zodiac are simply the constellations that this imaginary straight line points to in its year-long journey.

What are Constellations?

A constellation is group of stars like a dot-to-dot puzzle. If you join the dots—stars, that is—and use lots of imagination, the picture would look like an object, animal, or person. For example, Orion is a group of stars that the Greeks thought looked like a giant hunter with a sword attached to his belt. Other than making a pattern in Earth’s sky, these stars may not be related at all.

Even the closest star is almost unimaginably far away. Because they are so far away, the shapes and positions of the constellations in Earth’s sky change very, very slowly. During one human lifetime, they change hardly at all.

A Long History of Looking to the Stars

The Babylonians lived over 3,000 years ago. They divided the zodiac into 12 equal parts – like cutting a pizza into 12 equal slices. They picked 12 constellations in the zodiac, one for each of the 12 “slices.” So, as Earth orbits the sun, the sun would appear to pass through each of the 12 parts of the zodiac. Since the Babylonians already had a 12-month calendar (based on the phases of the moon), each month got a slice of the zodiac all to itself.

But even according to the Babylonians’ own ancient stories, there were 13 constellations in the zodiac. So they picked one, Ophiuchus, to leave out. Even then, some of the chosen 12 didn’t fit neatly into their assigned slice of the pie and crossed over into the next one.

When the Babylonians first invented the 12 signs of zodiac, a birthday between about July 23 and August 22 meant being born under the constellation Leo. Now, 3,000 years later, the sky has shifted because Earth’s axis (North Pole) doesn’t point in quite the same direction.

The constellations are different sizes and shapes, so the sun spends different lengths of time lined up with each one. The line from Earth through the sun points to Virgo for 45 days, but it points to Scorpius for only 7 days.  To make a tidy match with their 12-month calendar, the Babylonians ignored the fact that the sun actually moves through 13 constellations, not 12. Then they assigned each of those 12 constellations equal amounts of time.

So, we didn’t change any zodiac signs…we just did the math.

Ode to Hannah Annafellows

I noticed Hannah doesn’t get as much attention as Alois or Claude. I know a lot of her writing makes no sense half the time but lets be honest Alois and Claude suffered from inconsistencies as well. What we do have is fairly interesting though, so I wanted to write an piece that gives attention to my favorite Demon Lady.

Hannah the Demon Hannah used to be just like Sebastian and Claude for filling contracts for a quick meal. She was board and just killing time until she met Luka and fulfilled his wish to slaughter everyone who was mean to him and his big brother. “That is the first time anyone ever thanked Me.“ at first glance it seems like Hannah went from sinner to saint however a closer look reveals. Hannah is still a demon regardless of her newfound humanity; her true nature makes her a dangerous foe. 

Here’s the thing Hannah isn’t a good person but she’s, not a completely evil like bad fanfic’s portrays her as, and not without kindness but she’s still a viper. Hannah would gladly tattle on Claude to Alois, she would never keep the spiders confidence. In fact she’d use the opportunity to try and get a heartbroken Alois to listen to her. Hannah has shown herself to be very manipulative and sneaky. She spent her whole time at Trancy manor patiently waiting for Claude to screw up so she could step in. Outside of Alois and Luka she’s not exactly warm hearted people forget this is the women who was fine turning everyone into zombies and watching them tear each other apart on Alois’s orders. She had every intention of hurting Sebastian in that fight. She’s probly killed others off screen too and the stuff with Ciel which I’ll get to later. This reflects that although Hannah is capable of love, humanity with the exception of Alois and Luka are still basically insects to her.

Hannah and Alois Everyone seems to forget especially Claude x Hannah shippers is Hannah is Alois’s creature even more so then Claude. In fact they have certain traits in common. Both of them are protective of those they love, (Alois luka and Claude, Hannah Alois, luka) forgiving of trespasses by dear ones, (Alois forgave Claude, Hannah forgave Alois) can be incredibly vindictive if crossed, (Just look at how they got Sebastian and Ciel good) know how to manipulate and trick people in order to get what they want. They both can keep up a charade for a fairly long time. (Hannah everyone, Alois lord trancy) Hannah is both the tinker bell and Wendy to Alois’s peter pan. (Without the romantic feelings)

This is why oc x Claude fics annoy me so much. (Seriously, Claude couldn’t keep a human female alive around those two. Alois would go sobbing to Hannah and she would cut the girls throat for being in the way of her highnesse’s happiness. Also Hannah would never aid a random person unless that girl meant something to Alois. So any oc finance of Ciel’s would be screwed in that situation. I strongly think her attack on Ciel was a direct retaliation for him stabbing Alois as well as to help Alois seize Ciel’s body. However the fact of the matter is their relationship is troubling, manipulations by Claude and the fact both of them are socially impaired creates miscommunication about the others intentions. One being a demon that’s not used to looking after an abused human, and one being a mentally ill abused child.

I’ve noticed Hannah wears the same maid uniform that the maids that prepared Alois for Trancy wore, despite her good intentions Hannah comes across as predatory. Her eyes glow red and she slowly licks her fingers like a snake. There are scenes where she’s crouched over or straddling Alois’s unconscious body in an awkward position. Her biggest problem is unlike Claude who doesn’t care and can calmly make observations and cool headed decisions. Hannah’s sincere love may cause her to be over zealous and over stepping into the comfort zone of a young boy who is wary of adults and their desire to be close to him. (Not that this excuses his behavior) Yet it can be argued Alois is as dependent on her as he is with Claude. When Claude hurts Alois emotionally Hannah is the one he goes to either to take his frustrations out on her, or to simply cry his eyes out. She is the one he gets to take him to ciels manor so he can warn him about Claude and later Alois relies on her to help him carry out his plans in the maze. This suggests even in earlier episodes she held some importance to him even when he didn’t trust her.

Claude and Hannah The two of them have a very interesting dynamic. Claude is the beloved cherished servant Alois constantly showers with compliments and as a result of his affections, Claude has the kid wrapped around his finger. “My heart is trapped in your spider webs, I love you my highness.” Alois declares in the last episode. In contrast Hannah gets all the abuse Alois even rips her eye out for looking at him wrong. “She creeps me out" Alois sincerely tells Sebastian in his introduction episode. Claude yet both of them are attracted to Alois’s fiery soul. “I do so love your passion.“ Claude thinks near the end of Spiders Intention “As do I.” Hannah adds. However as the two dominant figures in Alois’s life they are at odds with each other. And although I’ve heard different takes on Claude and Hannah’s relationship some suggesting love or sexual intimacy.

I tend to view them as enemies who dislike each other greatly, but see the benefit in an alliance against greater threats. Although I don’t doubt a sexual relationship is possible, I think it would be purely for physical and manipulative purposes. I know some fans are convinced Claude is gay or a pedophile but honestly Claude is a demon therefore he most likely has no limits to what he will and won’t screw. 

Claude although incapable of love himself is possessive he views Alois as his property bought and paid for by their contract, fated to be eaten when Claude grows tired of him. He is suspicious of Hannah and doesn’t want her to steal his meal but also regards her as his toy or as he so crudely put “Hole for my sheath.“ referring both to the fact she is the keeper of an actual sword and perhaps making a sexual reference. He even protects her from Sebastian at one point, yet Claude himself treats both of his so called possessions like trash. Hannah gets it the worst he throws her around hits her and constantly pulls a painful sword out of her body. Yet he’s also dependent on her, as shown in spider’s intention Claude makes the triplets and Hannah do the actual work.

Although he insists the work is beneath him, I’d argue Claude is too proud to admit Hannah is better at pleasing Alois then he is. As shown when she suggests bluebells in Alois’s room in contrast to the roses Claude wanted. Hannah seems to dislike Claude she is jealous of the love Alois has for him and angry at how false he is. “You don’t deserve to be at his side, the only one who does is Luka Macken” she states. Later she seems to display open hatred for Claude instead of simple distaste Suggesting Alois use his wish to bind Claude to him forever and saying that she would happily break Claude’s legs for him. Most likely retaliation for his murder and betrayal of Alois himself. However later she does except Claude into her family and take him to limbo on Alois’s behest while his soul is in side of her. Suggesting she has the ability to forgive and forget. Anti-Hero Hannah I know fans praise Ciel and Sebastian as an anti-heroes but no their villain protagonists. Both Ciel and Sebastian are obsessed with their goals which are purely selfish. In contrast Hannah is the closest thing this series has to a hero. So anti-hero I guess just to be fair. Her whole goal is to save Alois and his brother she even saves Claude from dying permanently and she kills herself to free their souls on the off chance they can all go to Nervinna. Think about her whole role taking abuse, saving children and forgiving her abusers and helping them too find a kind of peace. Even Ciel is able to relax as a demon knowing Sebastian won’t munch on his soul.

She also goes through a huge change in her attitude from careless predator to someone who’s starting to figure out she is capable of emotions like love and caring. But Why is she so understanding of Alois’s abuse how can she love him? I’ve wondered this myself I know it was because she swallowed his brother, but I think their might be a deeper reason. I think Hannah gets Alois Trancy more than anyone else. (Not that it’s saying much everyone else in Alois life except Luka was extremely self-absorbed) She’s a demon a demon who felt lonely and board and did horrible things that’s what demon do lash out at the world because they’ve been rejected by heaven. So when Alois lashes out because he’s scared or hurting Hannah can’t hate him, because I think she’s been there many times and done far worse crimes then the human before her. She’s had centuries to do things like start wars and topple empires. So when Alois hurts her Hannah can’t help but understand and relate to him. Which is what makes Hannah so fascinating she’s a demon who can be nasty but still manages to be kind, understanding, and embrace penance, and forgiveness.

For that Halloween-Thing... How would the Phantomhive-Staff celebrate it, and what's about the Trancy-Household?

🎃 Phantomhive Household:

Ciel will say that Halloween is unnecessary and for children and later will lock himself in the bedroom to eat as much candies as he can. That is it, that is the whole thing.

Sebastian will have a lot of work—as always. Not only he will have to take care of everything personally but also make sure that the other servants won’t ruin his job before the great evening. He will make surprisingly good looking decorations, not too scary but not too delicate either. With his help, Bard will bake a lot of delicious muffins and Finny will shock everyone with his skills in drawing various stuff on them with the frosting. Mey Rin will be the one responsible for opening the door for children and giving them the treats, since Sebastian will be way too occupied to do that by looking for mysteriously disappearing cookies…

After finishing all their tasks, when the manor will be decorated from roof to the basement and candies prepared, Bard, Mey Rin, Finny and Snake will go for some trick or treating, too (”Alright, whatever,” muffled Ciel while trying to hide the piece of muffin in his mouth.). Everyone will make their own costumes and in the end, they will count how many sweets they received only to see who was the scariest looking one. They will all admit that it was good that Sebastian was so occupied because he would undoubtedly won this competition, either with his charm or dark side.

Bard will additionally have even better time, since he will share some stories from his native country, telling the others how does it look like where he cames from. He will make up some parts but nobody will notice.

Sebastian, on the other hand, will like to observe, finding it amusing how humans tend to cross the line of what is scary and fun, not realizing how the darker creatures are right behind their backs.

Wow, there will be a lot of spiders everywhere.

No but everywhere, you won’t be able to go to the bathroom without noticing at least three eight-legged friends running on the wall or hiding in the corner. Claude will insist that it will be all for the sake of decorating the manor properly but it will be easy to see that he will clearly enjoy this.

Speaking of which, he will be such an ass. He will scare all the children who will come to the manor and those who will just happen to be around. He will make them never celebrate Halloween again and sleep with the light turned on for the rest of their lifes. There will also be rumors about some monsters hiding in the nearby forest, the legends awaken after whole centuries. The prettiest decorations in front of various houses will be accidentally getting on fire, the candies disappearing in mysterious circumstances. He will ruin everything just for the sake of it, the misery amuses him a lot.

Except for his own territory, that is why, the Trancy manor will be the best and most scary looking in the whole neighbourhood. There will be a lot of homemade candies, carved pumpkins (with faces straight from the worst nightmares) and terrifying shadows wandering around.

Alois will inspect the whole preparations, whether the decorations are creepy enough and cookies having perfect bat shapes. Personally, he will enjoy dressing up the most, not being able to decide which costume to wear this year. He will most likely blame Hannah for that and demand her to create more and more clothes. The costumes for the rest of the servants will also be choosen by him and he will want everyone to wear them just as he likes—some funny, some surprisingly stylish.

I want to take a minute of your time and talk about Alois Trancy.

From literally the very first episode of Kuro II, Alois can obviously be seen as troubled. As the season went on, we found out more and more about his mental state. He lost his parents and he and his brother were abused by people who lived in their village. He lost his brother. He was raped. He has been nothing but abused until he makes his deal with Claude Faustus and becomes the Earl of Trancy. Alois has never once had it easy, and it shows in his mental state. He has several mental breakdowns and moments of utter despair throughout the season. In fact, at one point, when it appears he’s finally going to die, he lays there and accepts it. He doesn’t want to fight back anymore. Even after Claude has killed him, he still gives Claude a chance to lie to him about why.

Alois is not in a healthy frame of mind for a relationship. It’s possible to have suffered what he has, and have PTSD and recurring mental trauma, and be in a relationship. With love and support, and sometimes with treatment and professional help, people can have healthy relationships with each other. But Alois does not have and has never had any of that, so to suggest he can be in a healthy relationship in Kuro canon does not fit with him at all.

It has nothing to do with the mentally ill population at large. We see, throughout the course of Kuro II, that Alois craves love. He needs it. When he thinks he has it, such as with Claude, he latches on. He’s afraid to be alone. Several times, he clings to Claude and begs him not to so much as leave his side. He became upset and struck Claude in the face, then turned around and told Claude to call him “your Highness” again. Even to someone he supposedly cares very much about, Alois has trouble with his emotional and mental state. That isn’t his fault, and it’s to be expected he has trouble given all he has gone through.

In his current mental and emotional state, Alois is not ready. He relies too much on people he cares about, he clings to them, he hurts them, he turns them away and picks them back up, and more importantly, he does not realize when he is being mistreated if it’s by someone he cares about i.e. Claude. And that became abundantly clear when he told Claude, outright, that Claude could have lied to him, could have told him he killed him because he loved him and not simply to gain Ciel’s soul, and Alois would have believed him. And when Hannah hugs him, he is genuinely shocked at how nice it feels to be loved. Because he doesn’t know, because he thought Claude loved him.

Alois deserves love, and caring, and support, and with those tools, he can rebuild his life and work on connections with people. But in his current state in Kuro canon, he just was not ready, and he never got the time or development necessary to show that he was in a good place for it.

Just please hear me out when I give some reasons why these ships are not good

Both:

•Alois and Ciel are both children while Claude and Sebastian are adults

•Both kids were sexually abused when they were younger, were never taught about consent, and have had no experience that wasn’t forced

-it’s been proven in canon that Sebastian has no problem manipulating or coercing someone into sex

-it would also likely be quite easy for Claude to manipulate Alois into sex

Sebaciel:

•Ciel has actually said he does not trust Sebastian

•Sebastian gaslighted Ciel when they first met, manipulating him into believing he was responsible for his brother being sacrificed

•Sebastian tried to eat Ciel when he was sick and in a poor mental state

•Sebastian is generally a terrible influence for Ciel

Claulois:

•Claude has multiple signs of an emotional abuser

•Alois likely does not understand the full nuances of romantic relationships

•Alois desperately craves affection and is terrified of being left alone again, Claude could easily manipulate that
