Biography: Kenneth 'Cat Daddy' Pogson
Kenneth Pogson has been in the hospitality industry since 6th grade, when he got his first job picking up garbage in the parking lot of a movie theater. By the time he was 18, he was the manager of that theater. From there he entered a Hotel/Restaurant program at State Tech in Memphis and moved from theaters to Hotel work. Upon receiving his associates degree in what is now simply called Hospitality, he moved to Portland, Oregon. Enjoying the beauty and mild summers that Portland had to offer, Kenneth began a decade long employment at the Imperial Hotel, working in almost all areas of the Hotel. Kenneth returned to college at PSU during that time and received a BA in English. From there he became the Bar Manager at the Heathman Hotel and then the Bar Manager at Atwaters.
All along that road, Kenneth dreamed the entrepreneurial spirit of opening his own business. It was time to take that challenge after his departure from Atwaters. Teaming up with current business partner, Tres Shannon, they systematically planned a business that they dreamed would be great. It did not start as Voodoo Doughnut. With both being in the bar trade, it seemed like the obvious step, but the math and motivation didn’t line up. Soon there was the epiphany that there was not a single doughnut shop in downtown Portland. Thus, Voodoo Doughnut was born.
Within 1 month they had received their first national press. Voodoo Doughnut has since been on the Tonight Show, No Reservations, Man vs. Food, Globe Trekker, The Amazing Race, Wheel of Fortune and countless other Travel Channel and international shows. They have been covered in everything from Sunset Magazine, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, The New York Times, People Magazine and Food & Wine.
Currently he oversees the operations and plans for the future of World Doughnut Domination.

Community Service Day Complete
Thank you to everyone who joined us to help on the Habitat for Humanity Huntting Park project! We worked hard to hang sheet rock in several rooms of one of the homes. We learned to score, cut, and nail the sheet rock to the studs to make a room feel more complete. We worked hard despite the weather and had a great time. We look forward to doing this again later in the year.
Thank You!
Thank you to Lisa Sedlar for the amazing interview this morning! Also, thank you to our host, The Springs at Tanasbourne, and everyone who got up early to join us.
