Jack hadn't realized for a long time, actually, that he had stolen Cassie's heart, not until they kissed for the first time. That was the moment he realized he had stolen her heart, and she had stolen his in return. He wasn't oblivious; he just had a lot on his plate back then.

He smiles, rubbing his nose against hers after they kiss. He'd get to be a dad to a child of his own, even though he was like a dad to Harrison already; nothing or nobody would ever replace Harrison or Jack's love for him.

He chuckles a bit. "I say we try not unless you want to wait." He says with a wink.

She knew that she stole his heart, but she hadn't even tried. She treated him with the rest and love he deserved. She fell for him almost all at once, but then Jack would do something meaningful and she would find herself falling even harder. She rubbed her nose against his a smile captured his lips, one nothing could take away. Jack wanted a child with her, to be a family with her and Harrison. Jack had been so good with him, better than even Harrison's father had been. "I say why wait. Let's get started on making a family." She leaned into him, holding onto his hand.

"Well, if you have any hints to how you diagnosed that lady so quickly, I'm open to it," Dennis said. She'd had an interesting rash on her arm, one he hadn't seen before, and besides some odd colored vomit that had landed on Oglivie quite spectacularly, that was all he'd seen before he'd been pulled to another room. "But seriously, I'm good at plumbing, I'm happy to help."

"Well for starters, when you've seen quite a few infections in your time you'll start to know just what to do. Not to mention I learned from the best, between Dr. Abbot and Dr. Robby, I've seen quite a few of those." She took a moment. "I've got a few pages on infections I can give you, but don't tell everyone, then I'll be everyone's study guide."

He was chuckling despite himself, shaking his head slowly, letting out a low whistle of disappointment, even if it was all lighthearted. He liked McKay, liked her no bullshit attitude, hard worker, and a damn good resident. "No, no, don't let me stop you on my behalf," he gestured with a hand, "Jack would love to have you on his service."

"You do realize that it was a passing thought. I don't actually mean it." She laughed. "I have too many repeat patients on day shift that I need to help and I could never abandon the team. Besides, who would help with the outreach program if I was on nights." She let out a soft laugh. "Guess Jack will just have to come to day shift with us."

It wasn't unheard of, for residents, med students, interns; shit, even he'd taken a spill before. But fainting outright was rarer. Robby had been keeping half an eye on cassie, increasingly concerned that she was running herself into the ground. He'd been hearing her voice become slower during her presenting the case; he was just about to speak when she dropped. Instinctively, he jolted forward. Arms wrapped around her torso as he tablet bounced on the ground, forgotten. "Need a gurney, here! Shit, Cassie, hey, talk to me..."

It was no secret Cassie had been pushing herself super hard. She wanted to make sure that she didn't fail another patient. So many energy drinks and at least three cups of espresso later, she found herself inches from the floor in Robby's arms. She felt weak. Not because he was holding her as if she was something fragile, but because her limbs felt limp and her legs like noodles. "Robby.. shit.." Reaches up to grab her head. "What happened?" She shook a bit as she spoke.

He was glad to be holding onto her and her to be holding onto him, because if one went down, then the other was going down too, and they'd end up in a drunk pile of limbs, trying to get free. When asked if he wants a baby with her, he nods with a small smile.

His face and whole body perk up, despite being drunk/buzzed, at the news from her. He smiles and leans in to kiss her on the lips, happily and sloppily, the second part not on purpose. "You'd make a wonderful mom again, I bet you'd be glowing if/when you become pregnant with our child. I love you and Harrison, and I always will."

There it was, that smile, Jack's smile could thaw the most frozen of hearts. But if the truth be told, he had stolen her heart a long time ago, back when she first started at The Pitt. She was happy to see how much it had progressed between them. From colleagues to a couple, now to think about having a child together. She kissed him back listening to him tell her how she'd make a wonderful mom. "We both love you very much too, that's never going to change. And I'm pretty sure if we try really hard, we can have that baby we both crave having with each other."

He laps up her release like a cat with milk. He smirks and sits up as he licks his lips slowly. "I got you, Cassie." He whispers as his eyes fix on hers. He strokes her leg gently after he removes his fingers from her. He watches her and sighs softly as she reaches down to stroke him.

As her hand slips over his cock, he happily kisses her back, making sure she can taste herself on him. He moans softly into the kiss as she continues to stroke his cock. "You did so well for me." He says in between kisses.

A small smile played across the attendings lips, his rough hands soothing over the exposed curves of her body to rouse her from her sleep.

"You know Hebrew?" He asked with a soft laugh. Picking his head up as he shifted to hover over her, hands on either side of her body as hw leaned down to kiss at her neck.

"Don't tell me you learned just for me." He definitely didn't deserve that, Cassie seemed to always find a new thing to surprise him with, some small gesture to show she cared, thats she was thinking of him. He was no stranger to the small acts of service, he preferred that over anything else to prove the love he had for the other.

His smile turned wider. "Awesome. Okay, cool! Uh, let me know if that changes but," he hopped on his heels softly. "Tomorrow." He gave her a thumbs up, cringed about it, then trotted off back to work.

She genuinely listened to what he had to say about working at the farm and she supposed he was right, everyone had to have one thing they really liked. Hell she herself really enjoyed art and music. One of the few things not many people knew about her. "You're welcome." "Sure, tomorrow." She watched as he left back to do his job.

He has something to prove. It's true for all of the docs, obviously; true for the students, residents, even the attendings. They're all here because of that need to prove themselves, to make something of themselves. But for Frank? It's... bigger than that. Because he fucked it up, so, so badly. Because he has to prove himself, that he's worthwhile of being here. A sick day means more scrutiny, more tests. It's just a little pain. It's probably because he hasn't been eating much, recently. Since rehab. It's probably just because he's tired, because sleep is hard. Since rehab. It's probably just... He came to a stop and leaned his face against cool tile, just for a moment of breathing. A hand resting on his side. The pain had been getting worse, had spread into a band from his throbbing spine and enrobing his abdomen. A moment of calm, of quiet, of... "Shit." he almost jumped out of his skin, sweat damp hair sticking to his forehead. "Dr McKay, uh... hi."

She rounded the corner finding Dr. Langdon looking like he was holding on by a thread, one that was quickly unraveling in front of her. She understood him better than most. She had been through this and in a way, she felt that maybe she could help him. The way he seemed to be broken out in a sweat, true, it's possible that working so hard could do that, but this was more than that. He looked sick. "Frank, you don't look so good. Are you still Detoxing?" She worried for his well being. "You look like you are about to pass out. When was the last time you ate? The last time you got a decent night's sleep?" She took a deep breath. "You can be honest with me."

“Er, I mean, that’s what makes—? Jeez…” He gripped his wrist and tried to relax the muscles in his hand, but the twitching kept happening.

“Oh, okay…” He looked to the nurse with an unreasonably worried glance. “Sounds like a—plan, thank you.” A cold compress was offered to him, as well as the offer to recline.

Even with his fingers and arm twitching every few seconds, he almost managed to doze off. Did he have a fever? The cold over his forehead felt great.

Maybe some muscle relaxers or something would help work faster. He didn’t want to waste time doing something like physical therapy, God help him. There was work to be done!

With the lights off, Ryland was almost asleep by the time his electrolyte drink was brought over.

“Huh?” he asked blearily as he sat up, his hand clenching briefly into a claw shape as he did.

"Alright, Mr. Grace, I can't tell you how to run your life, but you really need to slow down and take a break." She paused. "Your heart rate is extremely elevated and you've pushed yourself to the point of exhaustion and over-exertion. If you keep going like this, I'm afraid the results could be catastrophic." Cassie tried to be as clear as possible.

It felt silly, the thrill that rushed through him, the excitement that coiled tight in his guts. It was a feeling he hadn't experienced since Heather. Hell sometimes just thinking about her still made his stomach bunch up in knots.

What a fool he was to ruin such a good thing, and yet how lucky he was to be free to explore this feeling, this need to connect with Cassie on a level he hadn't thought possible. It wasn't as thought he never saw her as a potential partner, it was just to think after the shit he had done the walls he put up to keep her as far away as possible... how the hell did she fall for him?

Once the doors closed on them a shy look over took the attending, all the confidence he had going into this suddenly gone as he turned to look at the other, that softness in her eyes, that understanding.

Fuck that look... why did she have to look at him that way?

Robby offered a terse sigh as he stepped forward to craddle her face gently, holding her as if expecting her to run away before he express this feeling. Lips were on lips, a gentle touch at first before that needy desperation to chase the high the connection brought him forced more passion into the kiss.

She felt that twinge of nervousness, but she told herself not to be. That this was Robby, it wasn't some meaningless fling, something that they would both pretend never happened. It was real and it was them. They trusted each other in a way that couldn't be defined. The gaze that she gave him was one filled with love and desire. One moment she was looking at him, the next his lips were on hers and there was no doubt. There it was, that same high she used to chase by other means, was right there in his kiss. She returned it, desperation and hunger driving her wild.

Theo sat down one step down from Cassie and turned to face her. "You didn't fail, there's no winning or losing when it comes to life. At the end of the day we're humans working in an emergency department which means sometimes we can't save everyone who walks through our doors. But it does mean that we can leave a positive impact on those we can save." Theo shuffles through his pants pockets before pulling out a bright candy wrapper. "Remember that girl with the broken nose you helped yesterday? When you finished she could stop talking about how cool she thought you were. You might've made a future doctor with that "

She tried to believe he was right and she was pretty sure he was, but the pain of the loss was still pretty strong. She failed, at least by her mind she did. "Maybe so, but it does little to soothe the pain of losing one. I did everything I could and it still wasn't enough." She shook her head. "Or did I? Did I really do everything I could for my patient?"

He's lying on the couch, with his head on Cassie's lap, looking up at her with a soft smile. He closes his eyes and sighs as he relaxes. He has his legs crossed at his ankles. He has his arms folded over his chest as he enjoys this moment. He opens one eye and then the other, looking up at her again.

"My mom used to make my favorite food when I expressed almost any emotion." He laughs softly, unfolding his arms and resting one on his stomach while the other slips behind his head. "It wasn't anything fancy, but it was made with love, so that's all that mattered. It's also the reason I eat just peanut butter protein bars. I'm just glad I didn't have a peanut allergy at a young age or now. I think my first taste of peanut butter was when I was four. I also used to carry the jar of peanut butter around. It was my own jar, nobody else could use it."

"That had to be the cutest thing ever a tiny Jac running around with his own jar of peanut butter." She smiled running her fingers through his hair. It centered her having him there, kept her feet on the ground. He was her strength, truly, they did the same for each other. She smiled down at him. "I think it's more of the act than the outcome of it. Acts of service are a form of love. She made it for you, because she wanted to see you happy."

"Just the nurses? I should really step up my game," the surgeon teased with a playful smile on his lips. "But if that's really the case, does that mean I can ask you ask you out and you'll say yes? Because I know you're into art and there are a few new exhibits popping up at the galleries— We could go on a gallery crawl and maybe get some dinner after?"

Their schedules might be a little challenging to work around, but he was more than willing to make the effort if Cassie was into it."

"If you truly mean it, then yes. If you are asking as some kind of sick joke, no." She gave him a teasing smirk. She had wanted to visit the art galleries, something about them was calming, the complete opposite of The Pitt. She knew he meant it, but she had to give me a bit of a rib first.

"I'd like that very much. I look forward to it and dinner could be arranged if I can find someone to watch Harrison for me."
