In Rainbows was a really important album to me in 2017, especially this song. It’s been a while since an album has been able to calm me down in the same way (last time it was Long Beard’s Sleepwalker). I know I’m a little late but this year was important enough to write about. More downs than ups I have to say, but tough times build character??? This was the first year I’ve actually had the balls to confidently stand up for myself/voice my opinions to strangers, though ironically, this year I’ve felt less confident in my own appearance than ever before. This year I was able to travel to two great cities I was actually considering moving to in the future (nyc and portland), but instead those visits kind of just reaffirmed that san diego is where I want to be. I graduated this may and wanted to take a break, but instead I pushed myself into a program I feel pretty whatever about so far. I tell everyone who has a genuine interest or talent in something they enjoy to pursue it 100%. I haven’t come across anything that I could do for a living that I thoroughly enjoy or am actually good at. I guess some people are just lucky. Friendship has become more and more important to me over the years. Maybe just people in general (perhaps I’ll write a separate one on the subject). But more so how to treat the people, how to be more considerate of balancing friendships and my relationship, well just how to be a great friend I guess. I didn’t have a ton of great friendships growing up, that’s something I’ve always struggled with. But now it’s something that’s important to always work on. I have really great people in my life. Marco’s taught me a lot this year about what it means to be more communicative about what I want and how to be patient with the things that frustrate me. There’s a lot more to that (I’m a big brat) but I’m thankful we made it through another year together. Notable foods of the year were definitely buffalo wings and ramen, I don’t think that’ll change too much next year though. On that note, I was obsessed with hazy and NE IPAs all year long (still am and will be), all this beer is making me fat but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. The best shows of the year go out to- Arcade Fire’s Infinite Content Tour, Solange & Frank at Panorama, LCD Soundsystem in Hollywood & Phoenix in North Park. Honorable mentions- Tiger’s Jaw in LA, Justice at Coachella, and also Beach Fossils at the Casbah. It was a great year for music. I could always talk more music but that’d go on for hours. Anyway, I hope this year is a better one. If you’ve read this far down congrats, I am impressed n I am sleepy ok thank u good bye.
