Multiple genders exist in the sentient species of the galaxy. Many beings are female, male, or non-binary. At least ten genders are widely known throughout the galaxy, but some cultures have a great number more, with the largest count being above 180. Genders can also change or be chosen.
Not all species are capable of reproducing with all other species, due to incompatibility of the manner in which both parties would facilitate or progress with the process. Most humanoids are compatible in this way with one another, but not all. Many species retain the same or similar anatomy throughout their life, but others are known to go through dramatic changes at certain life stages, by choice, or in reaction to internal factors such as hormones or mood. Some species posses a multi-purpose anatomy, though many are restricted to one type- either in general, or one type at a time. A few species do not require a partner at all to reproduce.
Calendar and Time System
'LY' is the Lothal Calendar Year.
'BBY' is 'Before Battle of Yavin' which is when the first Death Star was destroyed. It's called this because the battle happened in the Yavin System. in the BBY system, the years subtract until 0 BBY, and then go up as ABY (After Battle of Yavin) and because of this the BBY/ABY system isn't actually implemented until 0 BBY.
Standard Years in both BBY and LY are effectively the same as Earth's, because Coruscant (the planet which acts as the base for the galactic standard) has nearly the same rotations etc as Earth but without leap days! Coruscant does not, however, have seasons. But other planets do!
60 standard minutes = 1 standard hour 24 standard hours = 1 standard day 5 standard days = 1 standard week 7 standard weeks = 1 standard month
10 standard months + 3 festival weeks + 3 holidays = 368 standard days = 1 standard year
Galaxy-wide holidays were not considered part of the regular counting of days within the months. A Galactic Holiday would thus result in a skip: 18th, Holiday, 19th
There are also galaxy wide festivals which last for multiple days and are likewise not counted towards months. Holidays that were less than galaxy wide (or were galaxy wide corporate holidays made to up sales) would not result in a skip: 18th, Holiday, 20th
'Birthdays' are called Namedays, and are celebrated with the giving of gifts to the person whose nameday it is
