Assignments have gone out!

For newcomers: you only need to pick one of the prompts to fill! (If you want to do extras, you can make additional gifts through the Sloppy Seconds collection once you've finished your first one.)

Remember, your fill must remain COMPLETELY anonymous until creators are revealed! Until then, no hints of what characters/kinks/scenarios you're doing, and definitely no hints of who you're matched with. The surprise is a big part of the fun, so NO SPOILERS!

As long as you have an AO3 account, you can pinch-hit! Just message us with your AO3 username and a reliable way to get in touch with you (ideally email or Tumblr).

We may need to get in touch with you about your signup, and if you're not in our Discord server (with your server name matching your AO3 account, so we know who you are), we will email you instead. If we don't hear back from you, your signup may be deleted, so check the email address linked to your AO3 account regularly during the next two weeks.

(Consider setting up email forwarding from that address to your regular one if it's a throwaway!)

Were we able to get more sign ups than last year?

Yes! Last year's count was 58, and this year, we got to a whopping 64; highest count since 2019!

Now, The Matchening begins.

Would you consider allowing voice acting audio in this or future drone seasons?

Yes, absolutely! We haven't had it before, but provisionally, the guidelines would be mostly the same as for fiction:

One (1) fanwork for your recipient, which matches one (1) of their requests.

One-shot fanfic must be at least 1000 words long, and must be complete.

Chaptered fic must have at least the first chapter completed, that chapter must be at least 1000 words, and it should ideally contain smut.

The story you voice must be your own work (not someone else's fanfic, and no genAI for text or voice)

For accessibility, we would ask that you post the text of your story along with the audio.

Her tail emotes, so there's a nonzero chance those are her actual feet. In which case, the sensitivity and motility of paws probably confer a hunting advantage, with paw pads tough enough to weather outdoor environments.

Or they're just cool shoes.

Absolutely! Feel free to edit right up until signups close.

heyo! would i be able to sign up only as a writer/artist (without any requests for gifts)? i like the idea of making for other people but i don’t really have anything specific id want others to make for me </3 it’s ok if not! just curious :)

You would be a great fit to be a pinch-hitter! Those are people who jump in to take on assignments when the original filler has to drop out of the swap. You wouldn't be obligated to take on any prompt that you don't vibe with; you'd be able to see everything as it becomes available, and can volunteer for whatever strikes your fancy.

(And you can also make just-for-fun gifts for people's prompts via the Sloppy Seconds collection, which will become available later in the year.)

To the anon with 2 big questions: 1. The rules are on the swap's profile page, here. The point you were wondering about is covered there, but if there's an issue with your signup, we'll get in touch with you!

2. The requirements are the same for pinch hitters (1,000 words / a full color image / a monochromatic comic / etc / for full details check the rules linked above), which is why they are the true heroes for swooping in and creating a full-fledged gift under a tight deadline.

What's the stance on resubmitting unused prompts from last year? Do, don't, throw new ones into the mix? Does it cause any trouble in the matching process if prompts get reused?

Art is absolutely allowed! Any prompt can be filled with any form of art. (Except photography of real people.) Prompts tend to be written with fic in mind, but you can take that inspiration and create in whatever medium you prefer!
